Pandora's box is open. There's probably an ongoing scandal that we don't know about yet.

If the betting site allows you to parlay multiple prop bets it could range in upwards of 50/1 depending on the limits. This is the real reason for the NIL in college not because they want to pay the kids, it's because they don't want them to get propositions to rig games or worse.

What Calvin did and jontay are totally different… Calvin bet on college football game he had no control over… jontay was existing games early and manipulating his stats for profit this deserves a life ban

Bookmakers have become a real black market and will destroy the sport completely. Why would an NBA league defend the bookies and not protect the players. Every show on TV or YT related to the NBA league is sponsored by Draft Kings and everyone ran to defend the bookmaker as soon as possible. I thought this world was screwed up enough but there is always room for more.

This is just tip of the iceberg. Im sure this his regularly happening to most fringe nba players mostly 2ways or unguaranteed contracts... what happened here is the person who placed the bet (as well as Porter) went too greedy and placed a huge bet.

  • @SullyAfgarshe

Well said Dan. It’s the person who has the most to gain and the team of people around these players that would get caught up in gambling. I think we’ve entered into a chaotic and unpredictable era with every major league and media company not only embracing sports gambling but positioning themselves to make a killing off it…at some point a certain amount of low level players will get caught up in gambling and we’ll undoubtedly see more of this going forward.

All the gambling that has been legalized and the culture and mindset is going to cause some corruption of the game there’s no doubt. Sooner or later some fringe star will become involved in huge paydays for effecting multiple games, important games and possibly even playoff games. It’s only a matter of time. There are so many gambling parlors in my town. And you see so many lower income people throwing what little money they have away. $92 Billion spent on gambling last year. Smh 🤦‍♂️

Dan brings up the best point… Is that so much money with bet on on a guy that doesn’t play that much and doesn’t really score that much. So anybody would think that there’s gonna be something going wrong because this guy doesn’t play that much

All major sports, all of which have cozied up to the gamblers and casinos, now need to establish a zero-tolerance policy much like MLB's Rule 21. Lifetime suspensions for ANY game-or-points-or stats fixing will be the deterrent they don't yet have.

I don’t understand anything to do with gambling, but if all this is true he does in fact ruin his career because of this, it’s Sad.
Still wild how these athletes try and get away with this stuff. Why even take the risk and get involved with gambling while you’re playing pro sports? Dumb all around 🙈
