      Disagree. Vehemently. The betting “temperature” is fine, there haven’t been any improprieties of note and the League has been adamant about putting the game’s integrity as THE priority for ANY gambling endeavors. They jumped on the ref scandals and keep their nose in all types of potential mess. The sky ain’t falling, knock it off.

      Since Adam Silver took over as Commissioner, NBA has gotten in bed with casinos and sports betting allowing them to advertise everywhere. I doubt he will be getting rid of that cash cow any time soon. Look at the new Mavs owner.. Adelson family that owns Las Vegas Sands. How on earth did the NBA allow a team to be sold to someone that controls a casino empire? Thats conflict of interest if I ever saw one.

    This is the problem I have with sports books. I've heard of this kind of scenario or something similar to it happening several times. In those cases the bettors do not receive their winnings and an investigation is done to the player which damages his reputation and potentially his career of there's any validity to him colluding with bettors. But the games in question he only played 3 or 4 minutes so unless he's like faking an injury I'm unclear on how they think he could be involved. Last thing I wanna mention is there are betting teams that get together and can explain scenarios like this. They all have seperate accounts and if one guy in the group knowledgeable of NBA says hammer Porter's under then they'll all do it. Now in the many times that has happened never have I heard the books complain when those guys end up losing. It's only when the books lose that they demand accountability, but if the bettors lose then all is well. Sports books are just really dirty and unfair. I won't say too much until I know more but I'm already feeling the league overstepped by immediately calling out Porter. If I was him and I was innocent, I'd sue everyone for all I could get.

    • @KNByam
      @KNByam 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you do research you will figure out why. Out of all players, heavy money came in on this one player from Toronto, and in those games, he left the game at the right time so the bets pays off. That's a huge deal for something like that happens, twice in a couple months.

    You guys don’t get it. Adam silver has the feds watching all nba players. With the refs gambling bs and some nba players on bull, This is very confusing. This is another reason why older nba players complain about todays game. Wemby would drop 30 1 5 5 5, then some bull the next game. Also no one has noticed that players are sitting out more now than the early 2000s.

    The only reason the sports are mad is because they have no void in place for things like this like making sure the playing at least plays the first half or first quarter for the bet to be void but no it a player gets injured in the first play of the game and you had the over you lost so it’s just the sports books mad

    A betting market is a game of who has the best information.
    A bet like this could be based on noticing coaching patterns, or perhaps contractual incentives, or some narrative a close watcher of the team might notice.
    In my opinion, if you're going to secure your betting market against that kind of insider information, you need to be selective about what kind of bets are allowed into the market.
    Individual stats bets are easily gamed by insider information, simply by the nature of the bet!
    If you're going to limit bets to wins or losses, in meaningful games, the market's going to be a lot more secure against insider gaming.
    If that's not enough, then betting on seemingly silly things like the final score being odd or even, or have a new round of betting every quarter, should be a better approach.
    You have to ask yourself about the nature of the market you're regulating here, because the simpler solutions are usually on the market side.

    This is horrible for the NBA AND the sports books as well. If it comes out that he did affect his performance/injury status, then the NBA MUST bring an indefinite/lifetime ban on Porter. Just dumb. He couldve easily made himself a role player for a half decade and collected a few million there.

    To fix this going forward on the players side just only allow those kind of bets that makes advice a certain amount financially, maybe around the avatars player salary which I think is 12 million. Now they need to address this on the other non-player sides
