I looked at the Denago Commute 1, Aventon Level 2 and Mokwheel Asphalt ST. All 3 are fairly close in price. What I liked about the Mokwheel is not only the integrated headlight but also 3 integrated tail lights with braking lights. Also the front fork suspension is adjustable. It has torque peddling which I much prefer. Its also $1,500 with fenders and rear rack. Anyway do each his own you can't go wrong with any of them.

Nice looking bike, but the front fork is not much quality, the battery is lower capacity, motor only 500 watts. For 1800 there are lots of other choices that are equipped better. Would be nice to know the controller specs on the review.

Would certainly enjoy seeing the folding model.

Another great review. At first thought it might be another option for my #1 choice being the Ride1up LMT'D. I do like placement of headlight and display. LMT'D display is very customizable, not sure about Denago. Other things I liked about Denago are the tires and frame size options. You could add fenders and back rack to the Ride1up LMT'D and get a more powerful motor, lighter bike, throttle from stop, torque sensor, and options to add bottle cage and front rack for similar price. I'm still looking at options, but the LMT'D checks all the boxes for me.

My dad has one. No throttle at a standstill is the most annoying thing about this bike. You can use the “walk” button until it rolls, then push the throttle. The delay in PAS is also very long. Otherwise, it’s a nice bike.

Yes, close but why chisel on that rear light, and I wish the battery was a little higher on Amps.

Agree with your comment about the MicroShift.

Hi thanks for the detailed review. After having ridden both Denagos, how would you compare the value of the Commute 1 to the Fat Tire given that they are the same price? On a related note, how would you compare the Commute's cadence sensor to the Fat's torque sensor? Big difference?
Finally, how would you compare them to the Ride1up Lmt'd? I'm looking to get a commuter bike for work (15 miles round trip on gravel and pavment with some good sized hills) and the two Denagos are available from my LBS for $1299 after $500 state rebate, while the Lmt'd can currently be had for $1459, on sale (no rebate due to it being an online purchase). I welcome your thoughts, thanks!

"You're not likely not going to have to change any settings." Changing settings was what I was looking for.

What were you trying to change? Sorry about that!

@@EbikeEscape Probably the most important thing to know is setting the level 5 speed. When you have it set to 28 mph, the bike takes off too easily at lower speeds. When on a trail through the woods, it should be set to the lowest speed, when on a paved trail, it should be set to around 15 mph. If you want to get home in a hurry set it to 28mph; it flies even when hardly peddling. Also, the wheel size makes a difference. It needs to be set to the largest size f it had inadvertently been set wrong.
