I have purchased 2 pelikans brand new from a retailer and out of those 2, 1 came perfect and the other was just as he mentioned, bent tines and scratchy. I am NOT happy with where Pelikan is headed. Everything is on the cheap now, and they are using up old materials because on Jan 1 2025, Hamelin takes over and it is rumored they plan to focus less on fine writing and more on the budget friendly stuff. 😢 Soooo…. Take that one with a grain of salt…
As for the translucent ink stripes, No chance of them ever going back, they cant make the material any longer. I think it had something to do with machinery being obsolete and they are unable to repair it. Or materials not being available…
The only reason they changed it is to cut production cost, I managed to find a couple of translucent barrels on Ebay to swap out on my M800 For this reason I won't be buying any new Pelikan pens unless they change them back to translucent barrels.
It’s not acceptable that a 640€ pen (that’s how much it does cost in Italy where I live) has quality control issues. It’s not acceptable that a 640€ pen lacks a basic feature as a way to see the ink level. I don’t get what they’re thinking in Pelikan… I can’t buy one of these without trying it first. And even there, the missing ink windows is a huge deal breaker.
It's completely ugly a defective nub in a such price pen!😢 Don’t you agree 😮? I would like to buy one but this possibility is very discouraging 🎉 I haven't a nibmaster to contact 😮
Good review. Thank you. I swap nibs with a full reservoir all the time. Nothing to worry about.
My 2023 Pelikan Green Demonstrator with a medium nib, wrote perfectly from the beginning. So did my Pelikan M600. I guess I've just been fortunate.

great review, thanks for sharing
I have this pen and I adore it! It released in 2017 as a limited edition. The only downside is the lack of ink window 😢
What camera setup are you using?
It's just my cell phone on an overhead camera stand.

But still charging an awful amount of money for a worse pen than it was in the past…
