  • Innate Behaviour In Animals. ( M.sc Zoology, Semester - 3rd ).
Innate behavior is behavior that's genetically hardwired in an organism and can be performed in response to a cue without prior experience. Reflex actions, such as the knee-jerk reflex tested by doctors and the sucking reflex of human infants, are very simple innate behaviors.
All animals, including humans, have innate behaviors. Typically, these behaviors are related to basic needs such as finding food or producing offspring, and they are genetically encoded. Innate behaviors exist because they are necessary in some way for survival and have evolved through the process of natural selection.
Innate behavior is automatic, like a reflex, and does not require conscious thought. It is hereditary, it is triggered by some specific stimulus, and it is performed the same way every time. Learned behavior comes from experience, and it comes from learning how to respond to a situation or from being taught.
