    • @PratimaShri
      @PratimaShri  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You might have enhanced layout enabled in your org. From Profile> Object Settings > 'Task object' > here you should see all the record types and you can edit from here.

    I have created a custom field in Activity object but I want the field in event object, how to handle this

  • @ZE-pm8di

    Hi Pratima! I would like to ask you what if we want to create a new task or event on opportunity, and auto populate the name field with name of that opp's contact's name, instead of searching from the contacts I want to see the opp's contact name by default. Is this possible? if yes, how? I really appreciate if you could give me an idea. Thank you!

    PLEASE update this for 2019! These issues are still present in Salesforce and they offer no support or guidance on how to fix. Sadly, these steps don't apply anymore.

      @@PratimaShri I am trying to get Tasks and Events to show up on my Activites Tab. At 2:49 you change settings under Task for Record Types. This is not available in my system, the System Admin profile has only checkboxes and the layout is quite different.

    • @PratimaShri
      @PratimaShri  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DTEL77 Sounds like you have enhanced profile enabled in your org(Under set up > User Management Settings> Enabled Enhanced Profile). You can click on Object Settings and access Task from there and then update the record type like mentioned. Let me know if this works!

    hey Pratima thanks for the video. I have one critical doubt, I have added a new custom field called "Time" for the Activity(standard object). The custom field is made visible to all profiles and added to all the page layouts(Task and Event). But in the Opportunity or Lead detail page, in the actions bar, when I click on Log a Call, New Event or New Task, the field which i have created (Time ) field is not visible on these. Please let me know what should I do, Kindly help thanks !

    • @PratimaShri
      @PratimaShri  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi you would need to add the new fields to the action layout as well .. you can go to global action and find your creat task action - then click on layout.

    HI Pratima, thank you for the video. I have a question. How should I do that when I have say around 20 record types for task. In the global action I can only select one record type right? what about the rest? There can be a lot of profiles who shares or don't share a record type. Then how can this be done?

    • @PratimaShri
      @PratimaShri  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First, I have to ask why do you have 20 record types - probably not a great idea in terms of maintenance. Second, if you do have 20 rec types, are all the users those 20 record types or is it profile based - because if it is profile based - you can create separate actions for those and all of them to layout. Only users who have access to a specific record type will see their specific action and finally if you have to have all users access to the record types, 20 actions sounds like a terrible user experience. You could create a screen flow - first screen would be pick a record type then second screen with the fields that you need specific to each record type. It will be somewhat big flow but will be easy to build - in this way you can just use one action that will call the flow - similar to object creation record screen.

    • @premsingh-hj3gj
      @premsingh-hj3gj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PratimaShri so you mean I need to adda flow and just one action? I actually have some 10 record types and different users are using them according to their profile. So what I understand is I need to have one action created in the global action as “master” record type and then have to create a flow ?

    • @PratimaShri
      @PratimaShri  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@premsingh-hj3gj So if you have 1o rec types - easiest solution would be create 10 actions specific to record type and add them all to the page layout. so only users who are assigned a profile will see them. I mentioned alternatively you can create a flow which will be called by action, no need to call a master record type for this, everything will be built in the flow. but fo all users additional step will be - they need to select the record type before creating a task. I would go wth the first option, even though you will end up with 10 actions- not everyone will see it and its easier if you don't have lots of time to build a flow
