normally i couldnt care less about the shipping culture but the archie comics had me genuinely invested in sonic and sallyʻs relationship. i was saddened when it ended so suddenly but stuff like this helps fill the gap that the departure of the archie series left. great job u guys.
It's because unlike any other character Sonic has been shipped with he and Sally had actual chemistry. Depending on the canon Sonic and Sally had been close friends since they were small children and they both survived and fought against Robotnik's regime their entire lives. Not only that but they are a prime example of the Opposites Attract Trope where they balance each other out. They had ups and downs. They felt like a real couple. It's something that the rest of the female cast has just not been able or even the opportunity to replicate.

It is canon. SEGA was forced to admit "Everything is canon". After all, SEGA of America themselves created the Freedom Fighters in 1991 before either the DiC cartoon or the Archie Sonic comic book ever existed.

I was never a part of the sonic fandom but I’ve recently been watching some Sally stuff and I have to say she’s such a wonderful character. I do have to say, this ship is probably my favorite Sonic ship. No offense to SonAmy.

No, it's not. It's stupid to make Sonic a blank corporate mascot with no feelings. Sonic needs a stable relationship. It helps ground him & makes him relatable. If he's the forever hero who always wins with no real stakes in his adventures, then he's not relatable to his own player base/comic readership/TV & movie audience, because we humans are flawed creatures with our weaknesses, so Sonic should reflect that, too. The only contemporary things they're ever apart of nowadays are things made by dedicated fans of the American Sonic universe (ex: Team Seas3on creating their version of the _Sonic SatAM_ 3rd season that went unreleased due to the series' premature cancellation, _Sonic the Hedgehog: Re-juiced_ which re-animates popular episodes of _Sonic SatAM_ in multiple art styles, JayFoxFire's _Sonic Family Life_ dubbed comic centered around Sonic proposing, marrying & having hybrid chip-hog children with Sally, and of course, several instances of either inserting sprites of the Freedom Fighters into the 16-bit Classic Sonic video games directly (such as putting Sally into any of the SEGA Genesis titles via rom emulation hacking even though she kind of technically IS in the Classic Sonic games by default on account of the fact that Sally is canonically the Americanization of the Ricky the Squirrel base template, which in other words means that Sally in the West is basically just Ricky legitimately gender-bent to be Sonic's original [not counting Madonna, who's loosely based on the singer-celebrity of the same name, so she's discounted], most enduring [after all, the Archie Sonic comics lasted from 1993 to 2017] & actually worthwhile [because, unlike the other potential ships involving the Blue Blur, Sonally actually had believable chemistry as a couple] love interest, even if SEGA doesn't want its corporate mascot to be happy anymore by stubbornly refusing to let him have a stable romantic relationship [namely, letting Ian Flynn kill Sally off even though she was the better overall girlfriend to Sonic & SonAmy never fully becoming canon because of the uncomfortable age gap between 15+ Sonic & 8-to-12 Amy, never mind Amy behaving like an unwanted stalker Sonic couldn't run away from fast enough during the 2000's], taking away Sonic's only family by getting rid of his parents Jules & Bernadette Hedgehog as well as his beloved Uncle Chuck, basically decreeing that Sonic can no longer be shown looking vulnerable [if Sonic has to consistently be flawlessly confidant that his victories are assured without no real stakes tied to his adventures anymore, then he ceases to be relatable to his own video game player base/comic book readership/TV & film audience, because we as humans are inherently imperfect creatures with our own foibles, so we look for characters whom we can either relate to or whom we wish we could live vicariously through & Sonic used to be a character to exemplify both, as we related to his struggles when he was allowed to show human signs of weakness or actually took looses to Dr. Robotnik -- whereas Dr. Eggman just doesn't feel threatening anymore nowadays by comparison, since we know that Sonic will always triumph in the end, regardless of the circumstances -- and we might have wished to be as free-spirited as he always prides himself on being, even if it's just a coping mechanism for himself, just so Sonic doesn't have to think nor worry too much about possible consequences to his actions having any tangible bearing on those around him] nor can he be allowed to show deep emotion [henceforth nuking any chance he has at building any solid meaningful relationship with anybody going forward] just to make him the forever hero who always wins with a smile on his face & has no chance at being relatable again, because the human faults he did have were stripped away from him completely to make him a static heroic protagonist who never experiences significant character growth whatsoever), having the Freedom Fighters be part of fan games that are intentionally set in the _Sonic SatAM_ / Archie Sonic universe (ex: Sonic the Hedgehog: Liberations by NickP), or any video that CashlinSnow takes part in that features Sally reuniting with Sonic since CashlinSnow's voice for Sally is very similar to Kath Soucie's original to the point of almost being indistinguishable, etc.

No, it's not. It's stupid to make Sonic a blank corporate mascot with no feelings. Sonic needs a stable relationship. It helps ground him & makes him relatable.
