Maybe I'm too much of a noob... I watched the video on the site and looked at the info... and though they do hosting they even said if you want to then bring it to another server after staging....so..why do I want staging instead of just building it in WordPress?...but it also seems to be WordPress, so I'm confused.
Any advice for someone who is beginning to freelance on the side? I’m already a software developer but want to make a few bucks on the side through Wordpress. However, don’t really know where to start. What would be the best way to learn the ecosystem? Any courses? I pretty much have html css js and php locked in so wouldn’t struggle with that.
Written down points help add value to the talk. I did not know a few things in there. The idea of combining Twitter spaces with the live TH-cam broadcast is an excellent idea as well. Stef keeps adding value to the channel. Going great! Keep it up.
I suggest you heavily discount the first few in exchange for testimonials. Once you get a few done, you can charge normal prices. Offer a free lead magnet as well.
There are so many pedantic comments against Wordpress and PHP that just shows how real life *_!=_* reddit/youtube comment sections lol Many freelancers/companies still use Wordpress and PHP because its _profitable_
There much faster, stable, cost effective and faster growing nocode and low code CMS solutions. WP is like the MS of the 2000's trying to reinvent themselves. I find their UI and processes management so slow.
You are missing the point. Wordpress isn’t crushing it because it has excellent code (it doesn’t). Wordpress is crushing it because it has a whole ecosystem that alternatives can’t complete with.
I'm glad WP has such a big influence for PHP and has done tremendous work to work in that ecosystem. I don't need to use WP that often, therefore work with other frameworks.
@AR I agree and say this all the time to people. It's very flexible and can accomplish most tasks, profitably. I've used more than several CMSes, and I find WP top-notch. There's a lot out of the box that I don't need to program. Contentful is second place and Webflow is 2nd place contender as well. But, I always hug WP when all else fails.
WordPress is also the MOST hacked!! Not to mention upgrade issues if you're using plugins especially ones that have not yet been updated to the latest version of WP! So be very very careful when you upgrade WP!
Using things like Wordfence, 2fa and educating your clients on how to create hard to crack/easy to remember passwords (in case they don't want to use a pw manager) goes a long way. Also, limit the amount of plugins always, and if you do use 3rd party plugins, go for the ones that are frequently updated.
The same thing is valid if you don't properly test and upgrade other frameworks too. It is most hacked because it's most popular, but you get fast updates and can greatly limit the hacking with active firewalls, geo-locking, and so on.
Because it's all point and click. Want new functionality, or a new look? Point and click install a plug-in and you're done. No programming skills necessary :-)
If I wanted to break into the development field fast is going full stack web developer a better way to get into the development field over learning C#/C++ or Data Science related stuff such as AI/ML/DL?
Hello Stefan, my name is Jovane and I am from Angola-Africa, and I would like to know if there are any online courses in the USA on web development such as (HTML, CSS & JAVASCRIPT) that I could take from Angola. I need so much training with certification, because here in my country cerfication is very important, please help me out!

What your thoughts on WordPress theme developer vs WordPress Plugin Developer? What a beginner should learn?

Gotta love the anticonformists.
Not realizing they are shaped by the conformists.
Two sides of the same coin.
Flipped around by someone elses thumb.
Preach!!! 😂
Good info..thanks for this
Welcome!

Like what if you can be kind and suggest websites
Yes and comparing Wordpress to Microsoft is not a bad thing, at least in terms of making money.
You are missing the point.

Like he said, open source is a double edged. If you have a solid security strategy you’ll be fine.

@@burak1462sadly nope.
Only if your math is good enough 😊
Yea I have notice that a lot of math is needed and a bunch of other stuff. I may consider trying something else. Got a year worth of coursera. :)
@@burak1462not really. 😊
Hi Uncle Stefan, what's you stance on Webflow? Would like hear you compare Webflow vs WordPress. Thanks
I've done videos on it. Search on my channel.

If you can pay, Stef has a Bootcamp. Else there is the Odin project and full stack open, which are both free.
Can i start as a freelancer web dev with only wordpress?
Yes.
Every time you say a stat it could easily mean 2 to 3 diferent things, i hate this type of number throwing without context
But its hard to get clients
put on a suit and hussle
can you recommend a course to learn wordpress
Hmm .... I would have to check what's out there these days.
If you know programming in a detail, there are better suited cms platforms than wordpress.
Such as..?
he is trying to tell whrere the bread lies still in 2023. Not the best and most efficient UI cms.
Had a great experience with OctoberCMS before it was paid. Stripe is awesome.
Is instawp a former student?
I don't believe so.
How is Wordpress still getting 12% growth? that’s insane!
