  • This is the practical part of the Overview of Regression class handled by John Bagiliko (Alumni of the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Senegal) at the first session of the Application of Regression for Research training using R and Python (AREFOR'20) as organised by The Achiever's Gathering.

    Great observation @Jair Granados
    That is very true. I forgot to add the intercept which gave an erroneous result. It should be as below:
    Yearly.Amount.Spent = 25.8344*34.49727 + 38.2721*12.655651 + 0.4758 *39.57767 + 61.9148*4.0826206 + (-1052.6996)
    This will actually 594.4807 which is pretty close to the observed value of 587.9511.

    Excellent iniative! I really enjoyed it and I seem it very useful.
    Just an observation. When the the teacher is proving the effectiveness of the multiple linear model at 1:41:00 minute he forgot to add the intercept to the ecuation, that's why he got a predicted value of 1647.8 very different from the actual value observation 587.9511 (not 532.7248 his comparing, this is from the train data) from the test data he is using (you can see this data set at 1:36:40). If he had added the intercept he would have obtained a predicted value of 594.4807 very similar to 587.9511.
