    I just picked up one of these second hand and while I was able to download the manual, I still prefer a demonstration. I am so grateful to people like you who take the time to demonstrate how something works. I also like that the color of your cooker made it easy to see the parts. Your explanation was excellent-simple, easy to understand, and repeated a few times to "seal it in". Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Your video made my first attempt so easy! I went to turn it on and realized I'd have been so unsure of the display and pressure gauge. As it was, I stood there watching and thinking it wasn't sealed, but I just waited and suddenly the steam stopped and the timer started. Best chicken soup we've ever had! Thank you!

    Great information, as always, from one of the best on QVC. I learned so much more about my new six quart pressure cooker that I feel even more comfortable using it. My first was just a four quart, so it was time to get a larger size. Meredith makes whatever she presents so very appealing. I love using this method of cooking and take great pride in the results. Thanks, Meredith,

    Used my cooker for the first time & made Corn beef & cabbage, carrots, onion & potatoes. It was the best tasting CB that I have ever tasted. The veggies were wonderful. I am so happy with this pressure cooker. I was scared to use it cause I never have used a pressure cooker before but thanks to this video it was easy. Thank you!!

    Blue Jean Chef, you are REALLY GOOD! I love your You Tube video. You are so patient and THOROUGH. Just what the person who just purchased the QVC cook's essential pressure cooker should watch if they are wondering exactly how to use the pressure-limiting airtight/exhaust valve and everything else anyone needs to know! I can't wait to check out your Facebook page next. Thanks so very much. 5 stars ***** to you!!! This video is a 10!

    I used my cooker last night, for the first time. It is so different from the olden stove style cookers. I kept waiting to hear the jiggle sound! The video really cleared up some doubts I had. I love my cooker and can't wait to use it again. Very impressed with the ease of use and dinner was great! Thanks for the great info Meredith! Ordering your cookbook now!

    Meredith, thank you so much for the informative tutorial. It answered my question without even addressing it! My concern was the clicking noise I hear every time I turn it on. This is my 2nd digital pressure cooker. My other one does not do this. Thus, my concern. I heard yours do the same thing. Now I can be at ease every time I press start knowing the sounds I hear are normal! By the way....the fact that you are fashionably coordinated with your pressure cooker did not go unnoticed! :)

    Thank you so much for this video Meredith! I have the exact pressure cooker you're showing except in the blue color. The instruction book was not clear, QVC needs to redo it. I bought several of these some I gave as gifts but two of the ones I kept stopped working after the third time. I could not get ahold of anybody to help me with the problem. My husband figured it out that the fuses in them were bad and was able to get the fuses I ordered online and replaced them. So to everyone out there who knows darn well there'll never be able to get ahold of the company that makes them, hopefully you have somebody handy that knows how to fix things like this. If it stops working it's probably the fuse

    J Tanner - RRP appears on the cooker when the pressure is building in that particular cooker. It should at some point change to a number and start counting down. If it didn't, you might have seen steam releasing from around the lid of the cooker - if you do see that, push down on the lid to help the seal form. It should almost instantly seal and start counting down in minutes. Glad the meatballs turned out regardless!

    We tried our new Cook's Essentials Pressure Cooker last night for the first time. After the cooking time (90 minutes) we tried the quick release and got a volcano of 'gravy' all over the cabinets and appliances. I was told just now by Q Customer Service that for large portions, you are not to use the Quick Release. Doesn't state this in booklet.... Why would this happen....it was frightening, especially being the first time using a pressure cooker. BTW, the food came out perfectly and delicious!

    Finally able to use the 6 qt pressure cooker. Something very strange happened. Set the Pressure Cooker mode for 20 minutes for meatballs. The "RRP" code came on and never went off. Never saw the countdown occur. It beeped about 20 minutes later and it showed "END". I released the pressure and opened the cover. The meatballs were done. Did I do something wrong? (BTW, the meatballs were wonderful). Thanks.

    My wife was using the pressure cooker and after about a minute, it would do the beep and "End" would display, and you mentioned that it may need more liquid. However, it was full to the top and I'm guessing that's why it was beeping after a minute? Too full? Please let me know so I can inform her. Thanks again for this video, it really helped.

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ed Jasso Hi Ed. Yes - I think it was probably too full. If the cooker is filled past the "Max Fill" line, the cooker will turn off. It's a safety feature because if the cooker is too full, there's a chance the food could foam, spit or sputter and both the pressure release valve. Hope that helps.

    Quick question. I have the model of pressure cooker you are using in this video. It only has a "high" pressure cooker option. In Bob Warden's pressure cooker book some things, green beans for example, are shown as needing to have "low pressure" selected. Do I need to adjust the cook time or make any other adjustment in cases such as this? Please and thank you!

    Hi
    What can be done about the food odor on the sealer ring? I like the pressure cooker but the ring holds the odor of the food that was cooked?

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You can try soaking the ring in a baking soda-water mixture or a vinegar solution to try to get rid of the odor. It's a challenge. If you are really sick and tired of the odor in the ring, you can get replacements from pressure cooker manufacturers.

    Hello: I have made 3 meals with great success. My question is about the brown setting. I have found that if I am trying to brown for 3 minues on each side the heat stops maintaining a consistent temp and will shut off. Do you know if that is what it's suppose to do. It's a pain when I'm in the process of searing meat and the heating element changes.
    The meals: italian pot roast, beef and macaroni and lemon rosemary chicken with rice and broccoli was delicious. Getting organized and prep work took the longest. :)

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. In electric pressure cookers, the heating element has no option but to cycle on and off in order to avoid getting too hot and burning the food. So, you're right - after about 3 minutes, the heat becomes a little less consistent and cycles on on off. If I'm feeling impatient, I switch the browning feature off and then back on again.

    Noticed you did not add oil to the chickpeas. All the recipe books I have state that at least 1 tbsp of oil per cup of beans should be added to the water to minimize the foaming. Can you get away with not adding oil? Thanks. Enjoyed your hints and tips.

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I've never added oil and I've always got away with it! :) Adding oil won't hurt, but it wouldn't be necessary unless you're cooking A LOT of chickpeas.

    • @wendyryan3023
      @wendyryan3023 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blue Jean Chef Thanks for the prompt reply. I would rather not add oil. Just will be careful of the quantity I am cooking. Would this also be true for oatmeal, rice, applesauce, etc. that all the instruction manuals warn against cooking? It is OK as long as you are not cooking a huge quantity. Always enjoy you on QVC and liking your new videos.

    I’ve had mine a while from QVC, too long to return it - my quick release valve always falls off the lid. I wasn’t even sure if this was a problem and didn’t try to return it. A friend just bought one and hers does not come out. I can’t find any information on how or why mine won’t stay on. Any suggestions? I have the pink one and of course can’t find where to even buy this same cooker in that color.

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lisa. The pressure limiting valve (quick release valve) should pull off and push on. Is yours pushed on firmly? It usually takes a little force to pull it off, so it should take a little force to push it back on. Give that a try - push firmly straight down. The manufacturer of that cooker is maxi-matic and you should be able to learn about replacement parts here: www.maxi-matic.com/parts-accessories/pressure-cookers.html

      Blue Jean Chef thank you I will try to push it on but I don’t think it will, my husband has looked at it as well. I was trying to find something on line that shows what it looks like underneath to see if mine is missing something. I will try that this evening and go online to see about replacements if it doesn’t work. Hopefully I can find the pink one 😊 thank you so much for responding

    Hello I just received my pressure cooker. I'm trying to cook potatoes. I've watched your video several time. To make a long story short I can't get it to stop steaming. The lid won't lock. :-( I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Please help.

      +Whitney Hogard Hi Whitney. The first thing to check is the gasket. Make sure it has no tears or kinks and that it is in position behind the metal bar around the inside rim of the lid. Then, make sure the pressure limiting valve on top of the lid is in the "Airtight" position. It's tricky to tell what position that is. There's a slightly elevated position and a position where the valve sits right down on the lid. It will be loose when there's no pressure in the cooker, but once there is pressure and the valve is in the "Airtight" or lower position, it will be tight. If you see steam escaping from the valve, you have it in the "Exhaust" position - just turn it until the steam stops escaping. If you see steam escaping from around the lid, push down firmly on the lid as I do in the video to help the gasket for the seal. You should notice a difference immediately and the time should start counting down a minute or two later. Hope this helps. If none of these remedies solves the problem, you might have a faulty unit and should call QVC customer service about a return or refund.

    How long does it take for pressure to release naturally?

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MaybeSi Hi. It all depends on what and how much food is in the cooker. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. I usually give a natural release 15 minutes and then release any residual pressure manually.

    We just got one and it will not seal. I've tried several times to push on the lid and it will not seal. I think I'm going to send it back.

      Hi Tom. There is a chance your cooker is not working properly, or that the gasket is not fitting properly. I don't know which cooker you bought - whether it is a cook's essentials cooker, what size it is and which model if it is. If you bought it from QVC, chances are this is the manufacturer contact info. You might give them a call to trouble shoot before you go through the trouble of sending it back. 800-365-6133 ext. 120/107/105 or info@maxi-matic.com

    My pressure cooker always takes 5+ minutes to start the timer. Am I doing something wrong?

    • @bluejeanchef
      @bluejeanchef  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Monique G Hi Monique. You are not doing anything wrong. The timer only starts counting down once the right pressure has been reached in the cooker. How long it takes to reach that pressure depends on how much food and what food is in the cooker. 5 minutes is average.
