she should read the manual. The lid has a hinge & doesn't need to be taken off completely. The steam release should be done in short bursts. It needs to release & not be covered After it beeps, meaning its done, it automatically switches over to keep warm for 8 hours. Thats what the timer is for. If you don't want it to keep warm, just hit stop.
I love cook essentials pressure cookers! I had a big one and wore it out. Got small ones for my two kids. They are built to last.
I had the original larger one, too...at least 10 years old before I felt like it wasn't working as well!! (:

Oh my goodness I have been wondering what happened to you for ever now! Your previous channel and videos were no where to be found, I was so bummed! I just got the instant pot, but haven't used it yet. This was cool, but that steam was very scary. I love your tip about the towel. That will come in handy.
I always place a towel, the steam is so scary and goes straight up so forcefully. I hope you get to using your IP, they are really great machines.
I have an 8 qt cooks essential pressure cooker and always found it difficult to use, so I bought an instant pot . I LOVE the IP! So much easier to use.
Enjoy! I had great luck with my larger CE pressure cooker, I had bough it at least 10 maybe 15 years ago! Maybe the newer ones aren't built as well.

I know, whenever I work with "pressure" it scares me, until I get the hang of it. We use this little guy at least 4 times a week, it's doing great!
This appliance comes with an instruction manual that is quite understandable for most people. The instructions for rice are clear. It takes white rice around 15 minutes to cook (at a simmer) on the stovetop AFTER it has come to a boil. The "rice" preset will cook rice for 8 minutes AFTER pressure is reached. Which is faster? This is not a microwave. If you really want to save some time, heat your water in the microwave before putting it in the cooker with the rice. Might reach pressure faster.
I have an older model of this. Nice review. I've never cooked rice in mine.

I have one of these, and the lid leaks steam out of the sides. I have taken it apart and put it back together MANY times, but no luck. And Customer Service is ATROCIOUS!! Gonna send it to the landfill...... Oh Well!

for something I can use in my car that can be run with my 1000 watt inverter (the label shoes this is 600w). Even if the pressure cook function doesn't work, how are the other functions?
I just a Prepameal off Amazon for $30 reconditioned. Thing is it says it's 3 quart. Looks identical to yours.

That’s a great question, it has a “brown” option which can be used for sauté.
