Miles knows that having command over your domain isn't about physical size; it's about ATTITUDE. The walkway atop the fence is great! It allows Miles to see the entire property, the same way he oversees his family (in his mind).
Robert Heinlein once wrote "Ever seen a little dog tell a big dog to get the hell out of his way?"
I grew up with a brown, female Dachshund and we didn't go anywhere without her, including vacations & boating. She was the most important member of our family! And the only one who fully understood and gave unconditional love! ❤😂😂
I grew up with a male Dachshund looked just like Miles, except the area on him fanned out like ruffles on a 1970s tuxedo shirt and his legs were a little bit longer. Not long enough to make him tall enough to go with his Rottweiler decibel barking, though.
I had a little brown dachshund when I was a child, and he was my best friend. Rode in my saddle-basket through the neighborhood, loved long hikes - just the best dog ever. Dachshunds have such warm and happy personalities
yeah, Dachshunde are absolutely love machines and 100% protective of and loyal to their families. they are the cutest little security guards someone can have.

Seriously Miles has such a sweet family who thinks outside the box to keep him amused of guarding the whole neighborhood on his stairway to happiness. His grpa is the bomb digging🐕
I'm sure the wall helps him feel like a big dog, giving him a great view of the world around him that he doesn't usually get low to the ground. Great that they did that for him.
Dachshunds are big dogs whether you think they are or not. American badgers are small by all categories we think of size.........not so small when they are pissed off.

That is a wonderful idea to install the catwalk along the top perimeter of the fence so he can peer over at the activities on the opposite side of the fence. He will feel safer being high of the ground and he can greet anyone he recognizes on the sidewalk.

The original catwalks, in the 1880s, were on ships and backstage in theaters, and they were named for the careful, delicate way a cat walks.

Update: We just adopted two Dachshund sisters on 2/6/23. Their human passed away and they needed a new home. It's very sad about their Mom, but awesome how the Universe works, these pups were truly Heaven sent! 🕊️🙏❤️🕯️🐾

@@mjl5497 Absolutely! Adoption is my favorite breed! They are hard to come by down here in Texas, for some reason, unless you buy from a breeder. I've always adopted all my pets, or they found my home, as I am still involved in rescue nd heavily involved in advocacy! Let's hear it for the wee-knees! 🌭

Miles looks so proud of himself and keeping his family safe. He’s a cutie. I lost my little hot dog earlier this year and she was the same way. Always curious and always sassy. I really miss her but love these sweet videos. We have them such a short time in our lives. Why not spoil them?!

Shout out to Max and Donovan, my two Dachshund brothers when I was a kid. They were just like Miles; full of personality and so much fun. Smart but totally untrainable, like tiny four-legged teenagers rampaging through our lives. We loved them fiercely. RIP.

My grandparents had 3 Dachshunds. Larry, Curly and Moe. Like you said, totally fearless. They would go at another dog 10x their size. I can remember my uncle coming over to visit with his 150 lb King Shepherd. Biggest, most intimidating animal I have ever seen in person. Pure black fur, not a streak of color on him. He looked like a large wolf. Those Dachshunds would just bully him and terrorize him. He finally stopped bringing him over because he remembered and would not get out of the car. He was like "I ain't goin' around those 3 psychopaths. Keep them away..." But total momma's boys. Every night they each got a scoop of vanilla iced cream in their food dish. At 9 pm that scoop better be there or they would howl. Like they had built in clocks. They all 3 passed away within 2 months of each other. Kind of an amazing thing.

I had a Teckel 12 years. A Joy and I loved him so much. Intelligent and when they have an Idea they don't forget it. Mine flew to the sky with his own angel. I will miss him forever ❤️

I was thinking the same thing. Something he can see thru but not get over. Could also make it harder for someone to reach over and snatch him.

I can see Miles in my own dachshund. He always wanted to watch people passing by. Somtimes he hid in the hedge so he could "work undercover" for hours.
My mother has breed dachshunds my entire life. They have been in my life for 33 years. They are the biggest little dogs on the planet. The body of a weenie and the heart of a lion. No fear. But amazing cuddle buddies and super attached to their families. They are ferocious when need be. Their name literally means badger dog in German. They were bread to hunt some of the most fearsome animals on the planet.
I absolutely adore this. A huge Thank You goes to your father-in-law, Miles' Gramps, for creating this amazing walkway, allowing Miles to do what he does best - Lookout, Watch, Guard and Protect his peeps. This is perfect! Gramps are the absolute best!
