If you tried to watch the first episode but had an error, you should try again. It's fixed now, TH-cam had this error where they completely lost track of a few videos. I think Tom Scott had the same issue. Haven't said this out loud, but TH-cam's had a lot of errors lately that dicked me over. I've got some plans to do something about this.

“Some Plans” from the man who plays 4d minesweeper makes me think there’s more than “some” planning.
Something I’ve noticed: Tyler can’t say the “alm” sound.
He says “pam” for palm, and “cam” for calm. If it ever came up he’d probably pronounce balm like “bam!” lol
Calm was probably a joke, since during Card Shark, everyone made jokes about the way he pronounced palm, so now he's going along with it. It's honestly pretty funny
I absolutely love how after squishcraft, all thumbnails must contain Tyler's face.

Sadly, not vvvvvv, adofai, or minesweeper.
I love the whole Obra Din vibe without any of the fluff. It was a brilliant detective game but after the initial shock factor it hit the breaks hard and never really recovered afterwards.
The mini mystery style with the overarching plot here keeps things moving, escalateing in complexity and developing plot/characters without backtracking. I might put this series on hold just to play it myself.
This feels like a much more guided and episodic experience than Obra Dinn. I still think Obra Dinn is the overall more fascinating game because it lets you loose upon the ship, not telling you which scene has which clues and more often than not you gather information about a person across different scenes.
But this is most certainly easier to digest and the way you switch between scenes in OD gets very confusing at the end in a way Golden Idol never does.

It's very interesting to watch this after playing the game myself. You jump wildly between "Oh, I didn't notice that detail! That's such a great way to come to this conclusion!" and "How can you miss this?"
Example: The way he connected the amount of glasses consumed with the time they all played was great, I never noticed that - I went purely by process of elimination there. At the same time he missed completely that the name of the guard was written on the alarm thing he carried with him. :D
EDIT: Oh wow, I never noticed one dish was missing a fork. It's great to see how many ways there are to gather the clues to some of these solutions.
I'd like to point out that the relic had a blue gem this time, instead of the usual red, in the poison scene. I wonder if it means anything?
maybe it has to do with the spell used most recently? we know there are "freezing" and "combustion" spells... blue and red?

This makes me think Tyler should play some classic point & click adventures if it's up his alley. I recommend Simon the Sorcerer.
I loved Simon when I was younger, but coming back to it recently it aged really poorly in a few places unfortunately. The explorable area becomes very large very fast, the humor is oftentimes extremely on the nose and the puzzles range from "I accidentally solved a puzzle I didn't know about" to "Who in their right mind came up with this?!"
But the ScummVM version added the ability to highlight hotspots which is extremely helpful.

Same here. This was the first puzzle game I went into mostly blind (beyond what I saw in the demo), and it was probably the best game experience I've had in years.

Dumb wonder: is that a *gill* for wine measurements, instead of a *gallon?* A bit antiquated (except for spirits!) but... I believe one gill is equal to one quarter-pint (aka, one-half cup), and that makes *much* more sense.

fun fact: In the demo, the Inn case and the Spontaneous combustion case are switched in order. Because of that, people playing the demo had no idea that Ash Blair was a fake name solving the inn case.

If you like this game, you must play "The return of the Obra Din". It is kinda similar like this game. The major difference is, that you are a detective on a lost ghost ship which is appeared recently and you need to find out what did happen on the ship. You can travel in time back to the points where former crew members died and you need partwise conclud the pieces like in this game. It's from the guy which made "paipers please".
