Another forgotten brilliant early 80s UK Soul funk classic track by the Superb David Joseph You can't hide your love Even in 2024 if moves funk it timeless
UK soul get's overshadowed by it's bigger counterpart American Soul. But UK stood it's ground and had a series of amazing artists who left an indelible mark in this genre. 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴
This is the epitome of what Brit Funk was all about! The memories are flooding back seeing this..thank you thank you thank you for posting this...my ALL TIME favourite tune!!!
@@AbbeyAdeb yes from London. He was in a band called Hi Tension, one of their hits was called "The British Hustle". The Brit-Funk/Soul scene had several artists like Junior Giscombe ("Mama Used to Say"), Light of the World, Beggar & Co, Incognito, Central Line, Delegation, Loose Ends, Soul II Soul
Listening to these great sounds, only one question comes to my mind: WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED TO OUR MUSIC? Something went horribly wrong to get us where we are today!
My generation invented hip-hop, thank you. Music is a BUSINESS and we seem to forget that. It’s cheaper to hire one person to play everything (Prince) Thant to pay 8 people. Business.
David Joseph was the former lead vocalist of Brit Funk band Hi Tension, who stamped their mark in the 70s, but when they split up, David Joseph went onto enormous success with this release, a great midtempo track with its insistent keyboard hook, with Jeff Guishard on percussion, it became a chart success, still a great floor filler
Always reminds me of the hot summer of 1983. I used to go to band practice in a youth club in Bradford and it was constantly playing. Great tune, great vocals.
@@mkazilakwamchilloh8158 Yes, YES, as soon as I hear that intro..asthma or not, i'm getting up to boggie ..lol, went clubbing non stop back in the day even sneaking out my bedroom window at times (14 year old kid wearing he's DAD best clothes)...haha.. Blues,Soul,Funk,Disco.. you name it ,these tunes just take you back in time instantly!! Bless! 🌞
Brit funk all the way!! Awesome awesome track, but now I really want to learn these dance moves before I go to the next funk and soul event.. formation time!!!
David Joseph is my cousin lol. I remember TOTP's suddenly going all funky in the early 80's. They got a dance troop in called 'Zoo' This might be them dancing.
Just discovered this song and it's fantastic. They're showing repeats of Top of the Pops on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm. They started with 1976 in 2011 and they've currently reached November 1982. Unfortunately this show from 10th March 1983 probably won't be shown because Mike Smith was one of the presenters and apparently he refused to sign the documents allowing the episodes of Top of the Pops presented by him to be shown again. I agree about the funky music: other examples that have been on recently are Love Come Down by Evelyn King and Love's Comin' At Ya by Melba Moore.
@Christopher Christos It is definitely true, I saw them at the Docklands Arena too in 1990...I been a HipHop fan since the late 70's...Boy how its changed lol
yes yes Beautiful... the Firts time that i Hear this song it was in CUBA by HOT 105 from Maimi in 1987 finally i can see who is singing thak you for Upload
80s funk & soul is having somewhat of a resurgence. Probably because music today is mostly impossible to dance to. Hearing lots of 80s funk/soul played in bars and clubs, especially in Manchester & London. People love to dance to great music. Simple as that!
The Hustle Baby will drive you crazy! Still Love The British Jazz Funk Movement for this time, Light Of The World, High Tension, Incognito....... Pure class Groups..
I remember the song well in my childhood days. At the time of this song me and my family use to live in Tilehurst in Reading in 1983 which I look back with fondness and joy.
these were the fierce days dancing at the Garage when Larry would tear this song up. I am 52 years old wow those days at the Garage......................TOO TOO TOO FIERCERIP LARRY
Forgot about this tune!!! Thanks for posting, it's bought back song great memories!! The video looks like it was filmed on uk's 'Top of The Pops'!!! I really miss that show!!! I use to roll about laughing at some of the folks strucking their stuff dancing!!!
Uh uh uh somebody hold this old girl back....all my moves are coming back...arthritis ain't shit!!! thanks so much for this video I am 20 years younger woweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!
Great to finally see these guys in the flesh with that killer song on Top of The Pops (BBC1 on a Thursday evening) back in the day. Kind of ironic to not know what they looked like in 1983, as heavens knows what these men of vintage look like now in 2015!
FUNK-tastic song - it brings me back to the good old times, when I used to dance on unforgettable Oldies Parties in 2001 and 2002 in Bratislava - all night long! I kive the funky music so much - since more than 40 years. It makes me shiver again and again
A true soul boy's anthem & some nice rare footage to boot - thanks for posting!... fyi: David Joseph will be performing at this year's Summer Soulstice 5 event on June 25! xxxSoulsticeTVxxx
