The boy scout marker shows he was only 18 yrs old when he died. Maybe while scouting....so they provided this marker as a tribute perhaps.. Big old cemetery with many mysteries for sure!

The spike wasn’t actually for a railroad although that’s what they were created for, but it’s from an old survey that was done. It’s used as an elevation benchmark.

Railroad spikes could be used to help trees develop resistance to infections and disease. People do that with tomatoes all the time. A little copper goes a long way when you insert it into the stem of the plant.

Up where I camp in Northeast Pennsylvania, we have a few trees in the area near where my group stays that twist in the wind, and make squealing noises. I'm not sure if they're dead trees or not.

(I shouldn't post this until I've seen the whole video - but I never listen to my own advice!) I noticed that the flag on the flagpole was blowing back and forth and there was a pulley at the top for raising the flag. When it blew in a certain direction, it looked like the pulley extended out, and then returned to a position closer to the flag pole. Is there any chance that might have been the source of the sound? What doesn't make sense with that thought is that you could hear it so well while in the woods but didn't hear it when you were standing near by. Just a thought.

Hi Matt, interesting exploration.Nice area to go for a hike, must be beautiful in when plants are in bloom, animal life & sit down to enjoy the peace & quiet surroundings. The creaking must come from old trees bending in the wind, hear it often when i'm in the woods. The metal ""sound"" might be caused by the flag or maybe there is an old grave with a fence around it.Would have liked to see more of the cemetery, some markers seem very old & interesting.Love "" the boots "". In the Netherlands you come across then often being used as a garden ornament ( put a nice flowering plant in it), funny to see them here in the cemetery.Maybe there are some Dutch people buried over there, placed by members of the family.Maybe someone found it not suitable to put on a grave and removed it to the place you found it.Enjoyed the episode, hope to see more of these combinations ( nature preserve & graveyard / cemetery) in the future. Thanks for taking us along with you on your travels Matt. Keep safe on the road.Looking forward for new content. So nice to see all these different places Of the US you don't often come across on Tv/ internet/YT.The best way to see the US is travelling by car !!!.

Someone is keeping that place up sort of cuz the flag is flying. Lawn upkeep probably come in on a truck and trailer as it was no longer safe to keep the equipment there and the cemetery looks filled up so no new people will get buried there if all plots sold. That does not mean all plots have a body. People buy plots years ahead of time back in the day and prob some never make it to the plot when they die due to moving etc. Cremation for me and mine, No way on earth would I bury someone in the ground.
