    I've had mine since October. Advance Model. All I can say it is probably the best car you can buy for the money. It drives superb, handles corners very well, comfortable, brilliant tech, super sound system, spacious and family friendly. btw is 184BHP not 160 as you mentioned. I get 425 miles to a full tank (40ltr tank). Mostly in EV mode when doing local runs, but stays on EV upto 60mph. Anything above that it will be combination of EV and engine or just engine. But the whole change over is unnoticable - superb engineering from Honda. I dont notice any lag when placing foot on the throttle. It just goes! In sports mode the car dumps the battery power to the motor much faster for that super fast pickup. If anyone is on the fence for this Civic- dont be. You wont get any car that is even close for its price/spec/reliability.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for sharing. The kW figure is correct, sourced from Honda's site. 186 is the max Nm of torque available from the engine on its own, while the electric motor combines to provide 315nm as stated in the video. However, you're correct, with the hp figure incorrectly converted, which should be 181hp (135 kW)

    • @clewis5220
      @clewis5220 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for confirming pick up is quick as that was my concern from video - don’t want to find the same lag as I get with my turbo diesel lol

      @@clewis5220 pickup is instant. No matter which drive mode you are in. This review is the first i've seen to say throttle response has some sort of lag. Some other areas of the video I dont agree with either. I've driven over a 1000 miles in mine for last 2 months so have a good understanding of how the car behaves.

      Thank you, glad you liked it! Indeed, it's not expensive over PHEV alternatives, but rather when compared to pure petrol or diesel vehicles, buyers might be put off by the higher price tag. If it (and rivals) were cheaper, it would be a no-brainer for a lot of individuals.

    I've had mine (Sports trim) in Gibraltar for 13 months and covered 44500km. Excellent fuel economy and the best I've got out of a tank is 896.1km on 38.32L, with 2 longer trips at an average of 90km/h due to speed limits. The trip was mostly flat with the odd steep incline and decline. Still catches me out when I boot it in sports mode and leaves me with a smile on my face. Average fuel economy is 4.4L/100km or around 60mpg, with my best being 66mpg. I can drive home (some steep downhills) which is around 4km in EV mode alone.

    Saw this review and so arranged a test drive, ordered one in Sport trim at the end of the test drive, I was that impressed! The Advance trim is great, BUT I 'm not fussed about leather seats, don't really need a sunroof of any description ,so that meant c £3k more for a BOSE stereo system in effect - hence Sport trim won.

    Regenerative braking level is saved in sports mode and indicated on the dashboard. It's being reset in normal end eco modes as it's pretty strong contrary to what the tester says and could destabilize the car for an unprepared driver while manouvering on icy road

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's very specific conditions, and isn't the reason why it's not present in said modes. It's also not harsh in the slightest vs other EVs

    • @mikepl7155
      @mikepl7155 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TotallyEV So what's the reason?

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      From Honda UK: So in Normal or Econ modes, the brake regen will reset to normal when you press on the accelerator. This is to enable more efficient coasting which maximises mpg.
      In Sport mode, the regen mode doesn’t reset so if you set it to maximum, it will stay there. This is to maximise the energy recovery as to ensure the batteries have as much charge as possible, for a sportier drive.

      @TotallyEV in sports mode it saves the regen setting. I own one. I also find the regen quite strong....it has 5 settings and comfortably allows for one pedal driving at urban speeds. As for "kickdown"......it has no gearbox so that's a misleading term. The throttle map does change between modes.....in sport the response is absolutely instant, like a typical ev. If you don't need that torque you can select eco or normal mode for a more sedate drive. Also there is Android auto wireless....the settings are available with a quick search on TH-cam.

      As for the kick-down - it's a good term to explain the shift in power, and one that people will understand. Indeed there's no gearbox.
      And as for Android Auto, it certainly wasn't available, of course, if you go via third-party solutions, that's not keeping in with what the vehicle itself supports.

      I'd say the Corolla hatch drives almost as well as the base Civic. The Corolla sedan doesn't drive near as well. Never driven a GR Corolla, but I'd suspect it's on par with a Civic SI, but faster.
      The Civic is available with a regular non-hybrid 2.0L N/A engine as well, so the Corolla isn't simpler. The Corolla is probably slightly more reliable, but we're talking about the difference between best and second best, probably shouldn't be the deciding factor for most people.
