Great video, we're on the lookout for a new tow car the sportage is on our short list. We've just gone through our caravan and sorted out all the items we don't use, it's amazing how much stuff you accumulate.

I was wondering if my car could pull a caravan, so I decided to have a look on you tube to see if anyone else had tried to use the Kia Sportage to pull a caravan and I came across your videos, I saw the one where you picked up your new car and I've just watched this one there, where you pick the caravan up and take it home to wash it . Nice caravan. I was wondering if you could help me out with a few answers. My Kia Sportage is a 1.6 petrol 2070 plate. Iam not sure if that engine is big enough to pull a caravan, I think it will manage on flat roads but Iam not sure if it will really struggle to go up hills. I live in Scotland so I want to travel all over , Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales and hopefully try going across to Europe at some point in my travels . Iam hoping that your Kia Sportage is also a 1.6 petrol so that you can give me the answers Iam looking for before I go and decide to get a towbar fitted to mine . So can you please tell me the engine size of your car. Have you tried to tow your caravan on all different inclines of hills and also on the motorway. ? Are you able to pull the caravan easily or is it a struggle on bigger hills , are you able to get the car up to 60 on the motorway easily enough also. Hi Ronnie. If you want to tow a caravan the best thing to do is go and see a caravan dealership that will give you all the answers you have. Long and short your car would only be good for a caravan under 1000kg what you want is a kia Sportage 2ltr like mine which will tow upto 2 tons and not suffer on hills and fuel will be a lot better. 1.6 ltr petrol will be very heavy on fuel and you will also get noticed by the law. Beware. Paul and Sarah
Hi. 2.2 tons for this kia and we travel light in the caravan maximum trailer weight normally runs at 1850kg it tows really well and never have had a problem with it. Thanks for watching
Hi Greg only just seen this. We have the kia sportage 2ltr auto 185bhp 400nm of torque all wheel drive does about 38 mile to the gallon and with the caravan if you travel at 50mph about 28/30 mile to the gallon. It's a fantastic car and wouldn't get rid of it. Hope that helps. Paul.
@@paulandsarahcaravanlife At the moment I have got a Hyundai I30 1.4 Turbo with 170bhp and my caravan is a Xplore 554 and it weighs 1350 so at the moment it is ok.

I've got a 1.6 Sportage, but it's the diesel one FWD/eco. It struggled pulling our 4 berth Bailey pageant burgundy (1400kg), but is happier now we've downsized to a 2 berth swift alpine (1200kg).

Hi Paul am just a new subscriber and looking into getting a caravan next year I currently have a vauxhall mokka and it's not ideal for towing so was looking at the kia sorrento I see you have had this car before you upgraded would you recommend the sorrento as a good towing car

Hi. Our sportage is a 2ltr AWD and she can tow up to 1900kg max we don't have that caravan anymore we now have a Swift which is lighter 😉
