As a yorkie, it's so weird to see scenic shots of places I'd walk everyday. York is unfortunately infamous for hen/stag dos - like I don't like walking through certain streets on a Friday night because of that. But, it's still an awesome city (not town!). If you come back, seeing inside the York minster is a must obvs and if you're into kinda quirky food stalls etc, I recommend spark on piccadilly and that area. Loads of hipstery, indie shops and cafes around there 😊
Yes Spark is great, but very modern (built out of re-purposed shipping containers) and if you feel like visiting something genuinely medieval then just two doors down is the Merchant Adventurers Hall, 800 years older. both must see, for any York visitor.
Another awesome video guys.. I keep wanting to mention that I love the way Jess looks at you during the vids.. You can see that undying love she has for you.. You guys are so special..
I'm moving to York next September and I've been trying to find videos to learn more about the area and unfortunately there isn't many so thank you for this!
York has to be one of my all-time favourite cities in the UK to visit. So much to do and see, loads of history and the food is amazing. You should definitely check out the Jorvik Viking Centre next time you are there, comes with authentic smells and all. Enjoy Scotland x
The go to Hens night is Newcastle the in the UK. Hope you go there next as it's not far from York and another beautiful city. York is super busy around Christmas as it's Christmas market is one of the best in Europe!
I love that you guys have explored more than just London. London is amazing but there’s so much more to england than London, I feel like people often forget about the rest of the country but there’s some really beautiful places here :) 😁
York is absolutely THE hen/stag destination in the north. It's infamous for it. A friend who lived in the centre had to use earplugs every weekend to get any sleep.
You two were so cute on that boat. So much excitement on your faces! I have been to York a few times and never saw the boats. Got to give it a go now. 😀
For anyone watching this from a country that has no clue what “hens and bucks” mean, it’s not animals - it’s what some countries call their bachelor/ bachelorette / stag / stagette parties!!!
bruh this is a year old, but your not exactly right, 'town' is the city center, so if i was telling my mam that i was off to the city center i would say "im off into town"
Loving your brand merch. I have followed you since you explored New Zealand. Heading off for a month in New Zealand shortly to spend time with family. I have just purchased a hoodie in your range. Thought I was purchasing in Australian dollars but it was American dollars. Still happy to enjoy your new merch. York is stunning. Be sure to explore the shambles early in the morning and take photos before it becomes busy.
The Shambles is the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter - when I was at Uni in York, there where no Harry Potter shops down there and now I think there are like 3 of them!
Glasgow is awesome you should head there! Also if you're doing a train trip head up to Dunkeld and go to the Hermitage. It's absolutely amazing! You'll love it!
How have you never had Yorkshire puddings? We have them with every roast! We also have toad in the hole which is sausages baked into the Yorkshire pudding! So delicious! Gotta have lots of gravy though!
So excited for the merch guys!! 🤗 It would be so cute if you guys ever make some coffee ones for all of us coffee lovers ☕️😜 maybe a coffee quote or something!
Hi Guys, great video; Yorks a lovely city way better than anywhere down south. As for Yorkshire pudding, It is a batter, just flour, milk water eggs and salt. Easy to make and delicious. There are way more Stag and Hen nights in Blackpool than York.
Glad you enjoyed my home city, sadly lots of stag / hen parties do come on the weekend, but York does have a lot more to offer... nest time come during the week and you should enjoy it more. Lots of hidden places to visit... Brew York / Spark / house of trembling madness / valhalla etc etc
Your new merchandise looks amazing! My parents and I went on holiday to York in the summer and I have uploaded three vlogs about it so far, but I have at least two more to edit and upload. I remember going to Stonegate and the larger version of Bettys Tea Rooms. The self-drive boat tour looks like a unique way to get around York and the roast dinner in a giant Yorkshire pudding looks incredible. By the way, LNER stands for London North Eastern Railway and it is the new name for Virgin Trains East Coast.
In 1999 York was the hen and stag do capital of Europe. Due to the positioning on the mainline railway, sheer amount of pubs and other nightlife (aside from the other reasons to visit), York has maintained a very high amount of visits from such parties - particularly on race days.
Did you notice the cats dotted around the the walls, window ledges on the cat trail, i visited in dec and went inside the minster, walked the walls, and went in the viking centre and inside Betty's where i had the afternoon tea, a piano played and the waitress dressed as tea ladies!
Loving your UK series, although it's making me miss home soooo much. I'm from the South and have only been to York twice, but I love it there. I'm working in Prague until Christmas. I've only been away for a month, but I would kill for a yorkshire pudding right now!!!
Lovely city 😍 ... i will definitely go there next time... last time, we went to Eastbourne... it was a very beautiful city and beachy head views was breathtaking... u guys need to visit there ... love you
Ahhhhhhhhhh AMAZING!!!!! I've been to York soooo many times and never thought to take out the manual boats!!! I WILL BE DOING IT NEXT TIME!!!! I'll have to try and remember to vlog it too xx
Just watched this. Loved the whole of the England series. We would say York-sheer. We've noticed a few different ways to say it. The York-sheer pudding started out as a desert or sweet. Try it with jam or ice cream. We've liked the different places to see as opposed to where people tend to go. Slowly catching up with you now!!!
I love watching all your videos but this one in particular was wonderful, especially the bit on the boat, it really made me laugh! I am from Yorkshire (Leeds) so found your comments really interesting. You are both great presenters and very professional and have a great sense of humour, keep up the good work!
Congrats on your store guys! It's really lovely designs too! If I wasn't a traveller I would love to get some... but you know the packing challenges... thanks for keeping me entretained with the videos! :)
When I went to Ireland/Wales/England, I was suppose to use that BritRail pass to spend 2 days in Edinburgh but with Easter weekend it kind of messed things up so again, definitely have to visit Scotland next and more of Wales :) York looks very cute though!
Ohh my, I'm feeling sooooo wistful! York was the first place my friend and I visited after my arrival across the pond in April 2008. We stayed at a lovely B&B for two nights just outside the town limits. We walked the Shambles. Passed by that Tea Room. Took a ride along the river, and even though we opted for the larger vessel driven by someone else lol (good job at the helm you two!), I sure do recognize the surroundings on shore in this video!! And indeed the weather could not make up its mind during our stay...clear one minute, a soaking shower the next :) Most of the time the sun was shining. I noticed glimpses of the Minster Cathedral here. If you return to York, please check it out. You may enjoy the Norvik Viking museum as well. I wasn't sure I'd be that interested in the museum. After that experience I definitely saw why my friend raved about it. Thanks guys!!!
Yorkshire pudding is just eggs flour and milk or water. It is normally served with gravy before the roast so if you were poor it stretched the meal further as you get full on the Yorkshire pudding first.
York is the heart of England and the oldest the good old Yorkshire rose once the capital and Henry 8ths stop, and many more thank you for york u did pick the best
Cady-lou 22: York may once have been at various times throughout its existence the capital of the Roman province of Britannia Inferior, the capital of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Diera, the capital of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria and subsequently the capital of the Viking Kingdom of Yorvik but never has been the capital of England. It also is not the oldest place in what now is England. King Richard III, when Duke of Gloucester, is more associated with York than is King Henry VIII.
If you liked York, you will love Canterbury. Hello my loves 💕. Congratulations on your merchandise line. I cannot wait to have a peek. I have to tell you that you both have changed my life in so many ways. I first started watching your vlogs in August, 2017 to prepare for my trip to Cairo and Greece. Hazuki bruh Micklegate on a Friday night is packed with stag and hen dos
They should go to York chocolate story
what's "hen/stag dos"
How did you not go to York Minster!? Or Clifford’s tower? missing out on some amazing things in York :(
You’re pronouncing it wrongly! The ‘a’ in pasty is a hard, short ‘a’. So it’s pronounced ‘passtee’ not ‘paystee’. ✅
Its cute, I am always realise my own mistake when I watch my videos back to edit, I am sure they do the same haha
SiHave them pronounce Leicester and get Le-Ces-ter or Nor-wich ha ha
Question re: pronouncing ‘Yorkshire’ - I’ve always said it ‘York sheer’ but is it ‘York shy-er’?
Lisa Thomas Yorkshur :)
Yeah that made me laugh the way it was said!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!! Thank you for the wonderful trip and always looking forward to the next.

York --- SHER ---- pleeeeeeaseee ( not Shire )
York --- Shear (Southern accent)

Great vlog as always! When the Vikings raided England they settled in York and made it their main city. Keep up the good work!
You guys are a delight to watch, really enjoyable tour around my home town, loved it.
Lived in York my whole life. As I’ve got older I’ve learned to appreciate it more. Decent place, just fairly expensive to live in
yep. I now live in cumbria though, houses are bigger but 3x less expensive.
What city do you recommend me to visit in one day: York or Liverpool?
Another awesome video guys.. I keep wanting to mention that I love the way Jess looks at you during the vids.. You can see that undying love she has for you.. You guys are so special..

You should really visit the Lake District!
The way you geezers pronounce Yorkshire is so sweet and forgiving, it's actually York-SURE!
Now it is york-sure but back in the day it was ShIRE. No problem with folk saying Shire, as it should be said.

Totally going to York next time I visit the UK! I had no idea it was so lovely! Great tourism vid guys. 👍🏻
It gets massively overlooked in mainstream but I’ll tell you there’s no better city in the UK
York is a fantastic place, full of quirky shops and streets. The locals seemed very friendly too, well worth a visit
Yorkshire puddings taste so good with strawberry jam on them we always have it as desert after our Sunday roast with the left over puddings

The proper traditional Sunday roast experience is going to the pub for it. Every pub does Sunday dinner every Sunday.

York is absolutely THE hen/stag destination in the north. It's infamous for it. A friend who lived in the centre had to use earplugs every weekend to get any sleep.
Is it bollocks! It's got a great range of bars but the clubs are poor. Leeds and Newcastle are many times more popular!
I lived in York for 3 years and can tell you that isn't really true. There is much less than in bigger cities like Leeds
