He says: "'Cariad'. I can even, uh, I can, you know, make that better. (pause) 'Dwi'n caru ti, cariad'. Which means 'I love you, sweetheart'." (Then someone else says "Write that down, I might need to borrow that later." ;-) )
He says "Dwi'n caru ti cariad".. because he's from South Wales. If he was from North Wales (Gwynedd or somewhere like that) he wouldn't phrase it like that. What he said is a very SW. It's difficult to get the hang of the Welsh dialects if you're not from Wales. (PS - I doubt he gets sick of these kinds of requests. In my experience, Welshies love speaking Welsh and will do so at the slightest excuse. They're not shy about it. Ask away! I sincerely doubt it annoys him at all. ;-) )
@XxFavoriteSonXx No, he hasn't. He never spoke any Welsh (other than town/estate names) in the show. No character has ever said cariad. It's something the fans made up. The only full sentence in Welsh was said by PC Andy ("Croeso y cymru," which means welcome to Wales).
@xokatyxo Heh, I'm a Welsh speaker and I get so annoyed when people ask me to speak Welsh because I can never think of anything to say. If someone were to ask me to say something specific, I'd have no trouble, but otherwise, I'd probably end up saying something insulting, and just say it's something mundane.
I've seen this like a hundred times, but still whenever I'm in a bad mood I go back and watch it because everything about this makes me smile (:
Cariad's my name, and it's a term of endearment meaning love, sweetheart, or darling:P
John says "Write that down, I might need to borrow that later."

Cariad means "love" as an endearing term for someone, but the sentence at the end translates to "I love you sweetrheart"
God, he's so cute, and when he stutters like that I lose it!

It would be great that Gareth did a show, a film or theater in welsh. He´s got a very nice voice and he is a good actor. Shakespeare, maybe?
i love his accent to bits but what does it mean? :)
