I’m not a pro but I do have a lot of trees that need attention especially after a storm. I bought the same saw 2 months ago and it’s first job was cutting down a problematic crack willow. I must say I’ve never enjoyed cutting up wood so much! No noise as such, no fumes and release the trigger and it stops. Press the interlock button and then the trigger, ready to go again. I’m a convert as it works really well for me.

Just a reminder for who ever have the MSA300, last wek I went help a friend cuting oak wood for the fier place we went over in the field with 3 AP500S and 3 AP300S batteries, when back home and place the batteries in the charger he went for cleaning the air filter when placing it back over tight on screw and then it just keep going around and around not thigthing and not comes out either next day I have to go to a Stihl dealer to fix it. thoes screws should not be tight to much.
I wonder if if you have try or see charging the batteries using the truck battery? I have see some videos were they using a power converter and then plug in the saw battery charger in this power converter to charge the saw battery. I wonder if it really works.
I just appreciate they put some decent chain speed on it. I have the new DeWalt 20" saw, and while I love it and it has mountains or torque, its 13.5 m/s chain speed chatters too much when limbing or cutting small branches. This MSA 300 has about 50% higher chain speed on low. It just looks to cut smoother than my DeWalt. Than again that is like comparing a Mercedes to a Ford.
I think you make a good comparison, but not any Ford, a Mustang GT, just keep in mind it can be a Mustang GT with an empty tank of gas. A bit off topic but we corresponded about a month ago regarding the HSA 94 hedge trimmer, these seem to be very difficult to purchase locally, following your advice i was looking for the T version, looking at my front hedge i estimate it is 90% holly and not the same as yours. I found a R version, purchased it and i think i made a good choice as the hedge had become quite broad so i set about reducing the width in several passes, the trimmer made the task a breeze. A machine of this quality is a bit of overkill for my level of hedging but it reduces the time needed to do the job so thanks for the advice and apologies for hijacking this thread

I have the 220C and the 161T, I buy 2 months ago the MSA300 , nothing to do with 220C, much faster feels much more professional, just in my opinion even the AP500 battery is not up to the saw, this saw deserves a better battery witch stihl not have yet. You have the 220 as you said the batteries are the same but to go in full power must have the AP500 or it only work in ECO-MODE.
@@sirvozelo1 in the video, I did very clearly say that the AP500s Battery is required for the MSA 300 to reach full power. Battery technology is improving all the time, it’s inevitable that we are going to reach milestones where older model batteries are not going to give the new machines the power they need. This in no way leaves the older batteries obsolete, as they can still be used in a wide range of machines. I find it quite impressive just how far battery technology has advanced in the last 10years. I am sure the next 10 years will see some cool advancements. 😀
Very informative video. This chainsaw will be a game changer for me as a chainsaw carver :) I do have one question regarding oiler... can it happen that you run out of oil before the big battery runs out of juice? This does happen occasionally with my Makita 36v using big 6amp batteries... I am aware that you can get a model with oil sensor, but they are all out of stock everywhere I look... Cheers!
Hi, the oil tank on the saw is a good size - I have not run out of oil before a battery yet - but in your scenario that could potentially be possible if you are doing lots of work that does not require full throttle. It is a great saw. Thank you for watching 👍
It have a oil adjuster, in mine I have it at more than midle usualy always run out of the AP500S battery before run out of oil.The 161T witch I also have yes if you use a battery above AP200 you can run out of oil before you run out of battery but on MSA300 and on the 220C never happen to me even with battery AP500S.
Not much but also depends on size of logs you cut, chain sharpen, how hard they are and in what speed setting you have the saw. I have try mine, cutting oak using the 18" bar and on logs that need about 90% of the bar length in full power about 12 cuts and the AP500S battery is out of power so 15 or 20 minutes.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener Yeh i know they all do a bit, it just seemed more accentuated then on a petrol saw, prob cause of how quiet the motor is, i'm not use to it 😂👍
Interesting video :) It looks like a good saw, but I just don't understand its position in the market with a >£300 battery that lasts less than 20mins (6 or 7 charges to do 2 hours of cutting - 55mins per charge with Stihl's fastest charger!). As much as I love Stihl products (petrol), it seems rather gimmicky to advertise this as "designed for demanding professional use". I can't remember which model, but around 7 years ago a company I worked for bought electric Stihl saws to trial. They were great, until 8.30am, then it was petrol saws for the rest of the day. 🤣
I wouldn't mind one of them but getting hold of anything from stihl is a joke. Still waiting for my battery hedge trimmer 9 months ago long before the start of the trimming season. trying to run a professional business with professional tools is a nightmare. I'd love this saw but think I could be waiting a year or more before I can use it!
With everything that has gone on over the last few years, it is understandable that there are delays in getting machines out. I am sure that the manufacturers are just as frustrated as the consumers. I too have been frustrated by delays, but ultimately we just have to be as patient and as understanding as possible and continue to support or local dealers as much as possible. The engineers of these products definitely know what they are doing. Huge amounts of money and time are spent developing these products - they definitely put the filter on there for a reason.

That is so amazing for say some normal person slowly clearing their land or building a log cabin over an entire summer, at a slower pace. Buy an extra battery and boom. Bye bye fumes🎉
My tests, comparing battery and petrol chainsaws has me concluding that 1kg of battery equals 2 liters of petrol. I can work longer with my Husqvarna 540i between «pit stops» than i do with my ms201, using the lagrest batteries. In fact i carry a small oil flask in my belt, so i can use the whole battery between stops. The battery pays for itself over time, so i see it as «buing fuel in bulk»
I am not so sure about that, I have the Stihl 161T, 220C and MSA300 with an 18" bar witch on oak logs using about 80% of the bar in no more then 15 minutes I am out of the AP500 BATTERY. The AP500 weights 2Kg I with never cut as much as I with do with 4 liters of petrol.

In regard to Trimmer I have the battery powered 135 with bycicle handles and I am 100% satisfied. I most likly can say I have used and abused i,t so far never have a problem.
Very enjoyable video to watch and thanks for sharing,I have the msa 220c which I really like but not sure if I should upgrade to the 300,ego seem to have some decent chainsaws too and I already have their lawnmower
I guess it is all down to choosing the machines that meet your requirements 😀 Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and Leave a comment. I really appreciate it 👍
I have the 220C and the 161T, I buy 2 months ago the MSA300 , nothing to do with 220C, much faster feels much more professional, just in my opinion even the AP500 battery is not up to the saw, this saw deserves a better battery witch stihl not have yet.
😀
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I hope so, I have 3 battery saws, the 135 trimmer and I am about to buy a blower.
You should have got the 18" bar, it cuts like a knife through butter. I think the RS chain makes all the difference.
Great video bloke, how long does it take to recharge the battery?
How long does it take to charge. You are on 240V right?
Great video mate but think you will need the 500i for the main stem 👍
When I get to the main stem - I will film another video and show which saw I choose 😀
Thank you for watching 👍
Do you have an Echo DCS 3500 saw? They say that he is also very powerful and a good saw.
Ash, great firewood😀
Does anyone know when the saw is available in the United States
Your local stihl dealer is the best person to ask. thank you for watching.
Cracking battery saw and so much quieter than petrol 👍
Fiyat nedir
I love mine! its a beast. I was able to cut twenty trees from a 6 acres small holding in a couple of days.
I feel more confortable with side botton designer on the 220C that I feel with it on the MSA300.
Excellent video, that saw is impressive.
Informative video. It would be interesting to know how long the rma765 would run on two ap500s
That is definitely something I could make a video on.
Thank you for watching.
Very powerful !how long the battery charge can last for?
Not much but also depends on size of logs you cut, chain sharpen, how hard they are and in what speed setting you have the saw.
I have try mine, cutting oak using the 18" bar and on logs that need about 90% of the bar length in full power about 12 cuts and the AP500S battery is out of power so 15 or 20 minutes.
@@sirvozelo1 quite interested.
Looks a good bit of kit, nice test on it mate bet that was fun 👍. Is it me or does is seem to have a bit of 'run-on' when you let the trigger go?
It does - much in the same way a petrol saw would. When you look at the speed the chain is going, it is understandable. 😀
Thank you for watching 👍
When it’s coming to USA?
I’m not sure - Your local STIHL dealer is the best person to ask.
Thank you for watching 👍
Curious abut the pants that he is wearing, who makes these? Are they cut resistant? Great saw! I am ordering one!
how much did you buy the saw?
The saw retails for £744 in the UK (without a battery)
Lol,
You’re a walking billboard for Stihl…t-shirt, pants, gloves…I’m guessing you have Stihl underwear also. 😂
🤣 I do indeed & Stihl socks.
I hope you get your trimmer soon! Which model is it that you have on order?
Cheers for watching 👍
@@TheFullyChargedGardener HSA 94 R. I watched your video about this machine at the beginning of the year. I do really enjoy our videos just feel like I'm pulling my teeth out trying to order tools.
I've ordered 3 months ago fs131 strimmer. Latest update is December. December comes and shop says another 4 weeks, then another 4 weeks... 🙄😡
Wanted one but they are always out of stock, UNLESS you pay in full when ordering one, but I am very hesitant about blowing that much and a dealer goes bust , losing it. They seem to be desirable but unable to keep up with demand from China.😊
Talk to me about how great it is 10 years from now, if it's still working.
As with most products. I guess that comes down to the person using it and how well they maintain it.
Nice Video Looks a good saw I Brought the msa 220c last week not used it much yet Thanks again
We also have the MSA 220 - it is a great saw. Thank you for watching 👍
I think maybe you make a mistake, I have the 220C also the 161T and now two months ago I buy the MSA 300, very much have no use for the 220C any more.
@@sirvozelo1 I guess it all depends on what a person is using the saw for. Some use cases don’t require a large saw.
@@sirvozelo1 Hi Carlos I did look in to the 300 but my currant saw is an old 021 I have AP 300s battery's with the kma135 kombi so that was the most cost effective way to get a battery saw both saws have the 3/8 pico chain Have a bigger saw 250 ? if we have to cut some thing really big me mate comes over with a big husky Thanks for you user feed back have a good day
@@DJC995 I have 3 AP300S battery , I normally use it on the 220C and on the Trimmer 135 and I have used it as a back up for the MSA300 when I have run out of power on the 2 AP500, just in that one on the MSA300 it only runs in ECO-MODE.
The air filter always got quit dust I never think so much dust can got in. Yes it really needs the air filter.
The engineers of these products definitely know what they are doing. Huge amounts of money and time are spent developing these products - they definitely put the filter on there for a reason.
Are you saying that one battery only lasted 17 minutes? I don't know...
Sorry for your loss, mate. I'm sure you'll find a new barber though.
🤣🤣🤣👍
sorprendente
when working in forest i usually use 3 fuel tanks, so taking with me 1L bottle of fuel, 1 tank last 40 minutes so 120 minutes of active sawing.
So if using battery chainsaw, in I have to take with me 6 batteries? And its only hobby level.
It’s all about choosing the machine that suits the work you are doing 😀 These battery saws are fantastic bits of kit in certain scenarios.
I love your videos dude but I just can't imagine a chainsaw without a proper engine on it. Do u still have the 500i? Now that's a saw!
😀 I do indeed still have the 500i.
It is all about offering options for different requirements.
I find the battery machines an absolute pleasure to use. Thank you for watching 👍
You should compare the msa 300 in eco mode against the msa 220
That is a great idea 😉
I have both saws in fact maybe next time I do compare themes buy using one AP300S battery on each and this way the MSA300 only work in ECO-MODE.
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I'd like to see a comparison along the lines of what you did in this video- real world stuff. I'd especially like to see the 220C against the 300 on thicker stuff
That is so amazing for say some normal person slowly clearing their land or building a log cabin over an entire summer, at a slower pace. Buy an extra battery and boom. Bye bye fumes🎉
My MSA220 is up for sale :) :) :)
I didn't found in Amazon and Flipkart
And when you add the fact there are no fumes and less noise, the battery saws bring some great benefits.
Although I do like the way the 500i sounds 😀
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment 👍
@@TheFullyChargedGardener I kind think like you before and I use to have 3 gas power saws, but then after I buy the first battery power one and got used to I end up sailing two gas power just keep one as a memory. However yes the battery ones have a disadvantage because the batteries don't last long and if you are not near a place to recharge is a problem.
@@sirvozelo1 The battery saws definitely have their limitations, which is why I still have my 500i for the bigger jobs. But this MSA 300 will definitely be getting plenty of use around the Estate here 😀
@@sirvozelo1 Doesn't he show 17 minutes run time there...with one large tree cut up which seems to me more like one chainsaw tank-ful of petrol in a mid-size saw and not 2L. 2L runs a gas saw for a long time.
Batteries are $500 cdn each, saw will be over $1000. It's impressive but too expensive yet for most applications. The arborist saws up a tree are a different scenario where the instant on-off of electric is such an advantage.
Half the fun of cutting wood is the smell and sound of a hopped up 2stroke.
I hear ya! I still love running my 500i!
BUT
These battery saws definitely have their place. Especially in noise sensitive areas.
Thank you for watching
