I played Clash of Clans for the first time in 2014, at 9 years old. The entirety of my neighbourhood had a single clan, mistakenly named "4G nights" instead of "4G knights". It was nice, getting to talk with my friends even when I was away. In 2018, I took a break, as I was dealing with severe personal issues. Over two years my friends stopped playing clash too. Then 2020 came and with it came lockdowns. By the time everything opened up, everyone was gone; some were preparing for college entrances, others moved onto college, some moved away. Time moved on, and so did we. One day I sat there in the field where we all used to play football, and remembered the times we played Clash and other video games, made silly videos for TH-cam but never uploaded it because of the trashy internet connection. I downloaded the game again, knowing fully well it would feel abandoned, but it was so much more. It was 2021 - my clan was completely abandoned. The last message was in 2019: "Farewell". But the worse thing I noticed was that a major part of the game - global chat was gone. So many new things, and so many familiar, yet it felt so alienated. It felt like global really was that wall between enjoyment and loneliness, and now it was gone. It felt like I was the last player logging on. The things you said in this video are so true. It was like when you're at a huge party, and you go to get something from your car, but by the time you return, every single person is gone. And when all the chaos and energy is gone, you realize just how lonely a place like it can be. The animated sprites, the low polygon textures, everything that once seemed so lively suddenly felt so... dead. Eventually I did find a new clan, with total strangers, and I play on and off with them to this day. And while yes, Clash has been on the upper trends of popularity recently, at times when I'm the only one online, I can feel that sense utter isolation creeping back.
I felt the same so I created my clan in 2020, since then it has been active and inactif but surprisingly it is now quite active since 2023, clan name : L.O-srdp
When this game first started, the real and ultimate goal is to become a good leader of a clan. We all know upgrades never stops that's why enjoying the game with your friends or by helping new players grow is the actual achievement and the most real and difficult goal you could ever aim for. Not everyone can keep 40+ players motivated.❤
@@notme-yp9lv yeah. I quit before they remove global chat. And when started my clan just this past few years they already have the new feature for finding members. But i rarely use that hahahaha I just invited members from the clans of the players in my league who doesn't have positions, left my clan open for lower THs and just kept them untill they get to TH 13 in just months. Thankfully they stayed and also made their smurf accounts. I had to make a new clan for that 😅
@@void_serenade its hard. I said it was kind of the ultimate goal like the last and hardest achievement for an individual player. I also quit back then and left the game for 6 years just because of the frustration and all the bugs back then🤣
Ngl I kinda disagree because the whole point is to socialize in clans and to play at whatever pace you want without being heavily punished. By design it's not supposed to be a game you play 24/7 so if you feel that's necessary you are doing something wrong or taking it too seriously. The sadness, is losing contact with friends you made along the way. But, you can always make more.
I only started playing clash of clans during the haaland event but I've known about the game since the beginning, im currently a close to max th9 but I've seen so many yt videos and im just as educated as someone whos been playing since 2012, but ive never thought about ths the loneliness of the game and this has made me realize it!
@@IZ4DAYZ_ well i play since 2019. I have now alot of tanks over 100 premiums. And now wargaming is giving away so much gold. I like that becaus free to play players get rewards to. Not everbody can be a whale.
Clash of clans is just a mere statement of how war, in all of its shapes only leads to loneliness. You didn't start clash royale really alone, the story of th1 - 7 are an experience of growth, or at least I lived through it like that. You go from having nothing into progressing rather rapiddly, start forming armies which, more than being just characters you use and waste grow somewhat in you. The Barbarian, Archer, Giant, they are like friends and are with you as you continue in the lower town halls. I remember getting excited over upgrading troops, something about seeing their new designs and knowing they would be with me in every improvement made me closer to said troops. I gotta admit that im biased because I am a player from 2014 that got into COC rather young, but still I remembered og clans being less competitive and more like actual communities. Players who rather than caring about your war attacks, trophies or donations, cared about you as a person and how you interacted; all this also aided by the Global Chat (though looking back, I agree with its deletion). Aside from this in game interaction, the existance of Clash A Rama gave a new fresh soul to the clash of clans experience in my opinion. You were not alone. However, after th7 you start losing a lot of that. You start saying goodbye to the old troops and welcoming new, broken and overall better ones. The Dragon and Pekka being the main ones to just power creep over the older troops. Everything becomes way more systematic and competitive. Before at least you'd be exited about the king and queen for heros change the way to play coc so much. However today with all the equipments and skins they feel more soulless than ever. And as you enter the townhalls 11+ you stumble with a new clash of clans which is much more unfamiliar and lifeless than the one you used to know. Where troops are easly replaceable and improving them feels like chore rather than an exiting moment. Clans have become much more soulless as well, not only are most of them dead anyway but those who are alive are no longer spaces or communities. Everyone is just looking to get more resources, to the point that it became a well known meme to kick a player who didn't attack in war no matter his irl conditions or how much he has provided in the past. Everyone is just either maxxed out, or on their way to max out into a pointless goal which will just leave them even more lonely.
global chat was one way which was connecting everyone to globally random people n removing that loneliness barrier but.. after TenCent acquired its majority stake global chat was removed permanently .. they give many justifications that it was useless , people were abusive but that could have been controlled or its better alternative ..
Frankly speaking, according to me if you're a good attacker you get to join good & active clan where you can communicate fairly enough. It's common sense nobody wants to associate with noob players unless they are very active in donating.
For me, my clan is active and we really donate to eachother, we alwqys qttack in clqn wars, we plan and also for cwl, even tho my irl friends dont play, i really enjoy plqying coc
I disagree with the no friends part. Made a few in a clan and we all left to start a new one after the leaders seemed to forget how to have fun at TH16. They liked doing nonstop 30v30 wars and this eventually led to their downfall. Main reason we left was due to maxing out our capital, we had nowhere to spend our gold; so multiple people decided to go dump excess gold in other clans every weekend. Keep in mind: half of the 36 members we had were maxed out at 16, so having no way to dump resources makes the game stale. Since we didn't have enough people for 30v30, our clan leader and her husband decided to impose a rule about not leaving the clan for a couple weeks to dump gold elsewhere because they believed it might scare new clanmates if they saw people joining and leaving constantly. It sounded ideal; except that we already have clan hoppers every weekend and people were LESS likely to stay after seeing our maxed out capital. That, and there was no point in doing raid weekend if you have excess gold you can't spend; yet the leader still wanted us to do raid weekend anyway. They put it to a vote on whether we'd undertake this, and majority voted against it. Yet because of their pride, the leader imposed the rule anyway; so most of us abandoned the clan afterwards.
I can understand the sentiment, but I just think how much should the game be responsible to make it less "lonely." Of course we had Global chat, one of the greatest things to be brought to the game, but think of it. Even if it were on, you'd only speak to those random people for a limited time until the next day there's more new people, unless you add the to the clan.
