In my opinion Fate Man is in the same family with Tom Ford's Amber Absolute. But instead of a sweet warm Vanillic Amber, a light Maple Syrupy Immortelle is used to supply its sweetness. Its notes of Cumin, Saffron, Ginger, & Mandarin Orange make it fresh/spicy. With its notes of Incense, Labdanum, & Copahu Balm rooting it deep in the Middle East. For me, Fate Man conjures images of having my fortune told while taking in all of the different Market scents along the Spice Route at night.
I dont think the Cumin is the issue with Fate Man. I believe the issue is with the Immortelle, & how its Sweet Maple accord clashes with the Cumin. But had Amber been used instead of Immortelle, Fate Man would smell like your average Middle Eastern themed fragrance.
All that said I love Fate Man for what it is. Give it some time, you'll grow to love it just as I did. My bottle was bought in 2015

Hi I dont find them similar at all. To me different leagues. Amber Absolute is similar let`s say to Ambra Aurea or Vintage Ambra Mediterranea (Profumi del Forte). Fate Man is the scent of its own...there are no other similar fragrances other than clones?

@@fragrancemafia1778 thanks for the awesome comment, I do agree that I might be the immortelle that, mixed with the cumin, gives off this steamy super heavy vibe. You are also right that without it, the fragrance would smell more generic. Thanks again, very insightful.

Side note: I see you've gotten to the point that you've realized people will look for reasons to be bothered and offended by what you say. mine is a magnetic cap version so perhaps it’s after a reformulation that toned it down. To me it’s assertive but not overpowering with the cumin for the first hour and then dries out to a beautiful sweet, musky, amber, resinous wood. it’s very creamy to my nose and the musks in it have a fluffy feel.
it is definitely unique though and a piece of art all its own. Luca Turin says fate woman is a perfect scent and i’ve long wanted to smell that composition but have no access to it anywhere.

Fate man is the first Amouage I have tried (with Interlude man) at my brother in law house in 2013... I was gifted both bottles (Interlude and Fate) when he bought new ones. After that I was hooked on the niche perfumes, so my money problems start rooting around that time. I loved their scent, but the first Amouage I bought was Journey man. Fate man is my least worn form my entire collection and it not because I dislike it, I don't see it as a kitchen smells, because the cumin, at least here, in Transylvania we rarely use it for tea, and we have a special cumin soup with toasted bread, but nothing like using it every day in our cooking space... It is not very easy to wear at least for work, but I really enjoy smelling/wearing it and even have a new unboxed Fate Man found two years ago for a very nice discount (I like that now being a discontinued one). It is my least used Amouage and the only one I have 2 bottles of, funny life is.
L.E. I find it quite unique as a perfume - Karine Vinchon Spehner is one of the best out there - but in the dry down it shares similarities with Laudano Nero by Tiziana Terenzi. I don't have that now to compare but my memory say that Laudano Nero was a sweeter and heavier/denser dried down Fate Man. I wish I had that for confirmation.
    Love your videos!

Fate woman is a chypre-oriental hybrid created by Dorothée Piot; she did such amazing florals for Amouage; its color is completely yellow: the citruses and the daffodils of the opening and the rich spiced vanilla of the base. And yellow is also Fate Man a dry woody scent centered on immortelle: this is it, cumin is there to give depth to the composition. I ignore if yoiu have the box, but you'll notice that the shades of yellow are the predominant colour. I admit that in Fate Man, skin chemistry (people's pores to be frank) plays a very important part if the developing of the scent...for me it reminds me so much of my holidays in Corsica with its breeze of immortelles that it holds a very special place in my collection. Try to get your hands on Fate woman, especially the 2012-13 version. the best review I came across is from kafkaesque: she nailed it and the community misses her writings quite a bit. Enjoy Fate in the summer: it is more rounded and appealing. Cheers

I didn't get fate man when i first smelled it too. I felt it's unfinished or it's missing complexity or something. Everything clicked when I realised it's nothing but an amouage take on skin/molecular scents like Escentric Molecules fragrances. It's definitely your skin but better type of fragrance.
I'm definitely getting a lot of ambroxan which makes it fresh/cool and sweet. I think thats what makes it wearable for the summer.
It's just fresh and sweet ambroxan along with cumin to give it BO vibes. That's why it's long lasting and sticks to your skin.
It's about your skin smell, your journey, your own BO in the midst of desert heat. You can't escape your own fate.
