Auditioning for the role of chief engineer of the USS Enterprise, James Doohan did several different accents. Producer Gene Roddenberry asked which he preferred, and Doohan replied, "If you want an engineer, in my experience the best engineers are Scotsmen."
I inherited my aunties 360. She was playing console games well into her 70s and probably 80s. I bought some games in second hand shops for it but it broke after about a year. So ended up buying a second hand 360 from Cex. Still have it connected to the TV! All this talk of ending the 360 makes me want to play all those Lego games again 😄
Really should mention this podcast on your cave channel as well i didn't know this podcast exist for a good year after subscribing to the cave channel.
I have an Xbox 360 that i honestly play more than my Series X. It is too bad the store is closing but it was quite good of MS to keep it alive as long as they have, not to mention the awesome amount of backwards compatibility. I will always have great memories of playing Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 4, Minecraft and Gears of War 3 with my daughter before teenagerdom hit.
Xbox 360 and Xbox One are the last generation where the full game is on the disk. You can't say that for Series X as their disks are only a gateway to download the game from their servers. No servers = no game with only a case to remind you that you don't own the game.
Two early examples of crime games are 'Mugsy', a fairly limited but still quite fun organised crime game, as well as 'They Stole a Million' a game very much ahead of its time which has an interesting back story - the game was eventually remade on the PC, and the guys who created this eventually became part of Rockstar and helped to develop the 'heist' elements of GTA V.
I tried to attach a credit card to my 360 account on my 360. It gave me an error. And the 360 shop through web browser is not working anymore..... They have basically shut it down half a month ago.
Nintendo switch keeps physical with smaller patches for now. Ps outrun pc patch is amazing.refelects stunning, aa no jaggies, 240 FPS stable , no pop in
Thanks to jailbreaking, every Nintendo system is safe to offline and perpetual play - Wii, Wii-U even online. Switch eventually Online without Nintendo. Every Playstation up to PS4 Pro, same, but online only for LAN games. XBOX tops out at 360, also online with LAN patch. The last game I put 40 hours into was Zelda for the Wii in 2006. Back in the day however, Ultima IV, Ultima V, Bard's Tale series, Stunt Car Racer multiplayer, etc.

Ok, help this aged brain out. I’ve not connected my 360 to the net for a long time. Can I still update my firmware by logging in at the moment? I still need the final ‘backwards compatible’ update to allow the full back catalogue. Is that still something I’m able to do before the servers are stopped?
To me TWIR is truly the start of the weekend !
"Street Fighter, a lot of those fights were unlicensed." This got me, lol.

Xbox 360 out in 2005 is 19 years ago, not 23 :)
That's not what Terrence Howard says
Neil is on crack.
They're filming this in the future, ffs.
Squirrel With A Gun looks like a very fun experience.
The Xbox 360 was only discontinued in 2016, but by Neil's maths, that's a good decade and a half ago 😉
yep, "released in 2005" ... and "23 + a bit years old" in 2024 🤔🤔
because its a far better console than the modern generations.

The 360 is an incredible machine!
Parental leave. I love the sound of that. I'm sure i speak for all that you are going to be the best dad.

The IBM factory was in an area known as "Spango Valley". The name always makes me have a little chuckle.
Drug Wars was a classic.

Great Terry Wogan impression at 0.30.

Is there a more modern version of "They stole a million" besides "the Clou"? Loved to play it on my Schneider CPC 464
@@korallenkaiser yes, there is a sequel to the Clou called 'The Sting' which came out in 2001.
@@HappyCodingZX thanks man
Need pics of the catdio once done
DMA is the reason the first Computer Games Degree was created at Abertay
Gaelic football??!! I think the Irish might have something to say about that!
In Elite you have the option being bad from the start
Hoots mon!
Would Cinemawares "King of Chicago" (1986) count? You play a gangster and you run a mob empire.
Yes!
The best crime game on the Amstrad CPC was They Stole A Million where you had to put together a team and then go on a criminal job.

Anyone else never fully connect the weird intros to the actual story they are referencing? I am also fine with that...
Yes.
I'm English, but hat's off to the quality and productivity of Scottish engineers, including the most famous - scotty of the USS Enterprise.
It was a choice, but possible to play evil in Ultima IV. But besides that, I'd say Pac-Man. Poor little ghosts.
