The OVA soundtrack is truly a masterpiece. The OVA was heartbreaking and really complements the anime and shows Kenshin's character development. Seeing this again makes me sad in a good way tho ^^
Watch the live action movies, they're very well made and true to the original. The fighting scenes are a blessing to watch. th-cam.com/video/SZCAIAvQeAM/w-d-xo.html
The live action films are very good and I look forward to the last installment on Netflix. However I still prefer the outstanding OVA anime and it’s beautiful and atmospheric OST.
@@SolarDragon007 Netflix has only the 4th and 5th installments, Rurouni Kenshin The Final and The Beginning. The first three movies are available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime and available in BluRay or DVDs.

The OVA soundtrack is a masterpiece. That's what the movie lacked. IMO It would be interesting to see the movie trailer with the original OVA soundtrack. ;) There's one thing I liked more about the movie than the OVA: Tomoe. She is perfect!

I can't believe that the scenes in anime can adapt to live action trailer style perfectly! (except the dialogue. They seems not fit to the live action's dialogue)
@@jewishromero7891 gogoanime ok so basically just search rurouni kenshin trust and betrayal gogoanime thats litearlly it and it should be on the first or second link
Maybe they should've followed the flow and sequence of the OVA more. I know they mirrored key bits already, but the live action felt really slow on most parts. Also, the bleeding scar story was important, makes reason why Tomoe did the second; shame it wasn't put in.
As good as the live-action adaptation was, it was more "anime(ish)" than the OVA, Japan seems to have two mode of acting depending on the type of movie they are going for, the style that has them overacting/overexpressing as if we are still in the time of Akira Kurosawa, the live characters overexpress with their body languagebut instead end up looking like cheesy Power Rangers or anime/cartoony, and then you have the modern style of acting where you act-like-you're-not-acting that we see in western movies. The OVA was more of the latter, and the live action was ironically more of the former trying to be too true to the anime/manga background becoming a style of its own(neither anime, nor realistic) that I'm not a fan off. Trust & Betrayal was a more grounded and realistic take of a period drama, it truly was something else, the script, the art style, the music and its timing, the tone/mood, the cinematography, everything, everything was working like perfection, it was just art. Trust & Betrayal could have been a stand alone with that beautiful poetic ending, it wouldn't have mattered if you were a fan with previous knowledge or not to enjoy that movie because it had a great opening and great ending. That director was amazing, or whoever envisioned how to convey that Kenshin arc from manga to OVA. I swear if everything in the OVA was the same save for the animation being in live-action, it would have been a Foreign Language Oscar winner like "Departures." I can't get over how fking amazing this animated movie/OVAs was. This master piece is literally my favourite anime(and possibly even amongst films) of all time.
As a manga guy I can’t like T&B any less than the original. My favourite bit of this OVA compared to the manga is how they portray Kenshin after learning the truth about Tomoe. In the manga he was in enraged state but slightly less focused allowing low tier yaminobu to wound him. On normal condition there’d be raining blood in the snowy forest. In T&B he was guilt ridden, trance state, barely noticed his surroundings relying only on swordsman instinct. It explains how he can get injured fighting minions.
In the manga he said he’s slain a hundred people in his first six months after joining Katsura. In one scene he’s seen to take out 3-4 men at once. Do you guys think he could’ve slain at least 200 in total? 250 could be max, 300 is overkill (pun intended).
Although the movies were masterfully made, this OVA series has the better story overall, IMHO. It's a shame that this trailer shows a massive spoiler though.
Although they covered pretty much the same content it is amazing how direction can make such a big difference. T&B is great not so much due to its story but the details in it. Tomoe's scent that is referenced throughout and is the first thing kenshin notices when he slashes her since all his other senses were numb, the reason for his bleeding Scar which explain why She would Scar him too, his whipping top reminding us how young he was despite the burden he carried (Guess with their casting choice that would not make much sense which is another problem I have regarding Begining). Story wise they still left out important things like how his master found kenshin and their arguments which was a shame and they should have kept the original Score. If you want to watch this story, stick to T&B
Easily the greatest ova of all time. They took a different tone from the anime and the manga and it became even better.
Agree. This is more darker than in manga, also more sad
