For me it would have to be in this order metal gear solid 2, dragon age 2, and then the one that pissed me off the most was Joel dying because how he was in the first one he would have never let that shit happen I mean for god sakes he ran over someone just for asking for help because he didn't trust people he would have never been caught off guard like that even after starting a family his soul objective was to protect her his only family

Forreal, with all the super natural shenanigan that has happened throughout the entire game series it should be no surprise. Quiet breathing through her skin is pretty much SJWs ranting about her look and Kojima trying to explain why. Definitely not a plot twist. Big Boss's identity though, that is the real plot twist in MGSV and one of the best in my opinion.
How is Joel dying a plot twist. The real plot twist is that we play as Abby.

I don't think they mean that he died, but rather that he dies so soon despite the game's marketing. Kind of like Kaede in Danganronpa V3, but where that was a clever curveball at longtime fans to take them out of their comfort zone, Joel's death just deflates most of the excitement fans of the 1st game had going into the sequel.

I hated the part where we played as Abby. Like, dude, it's the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time and THIS is how you do it?! Buncha idiots
In fact many fans knew Joel was going to die, it's the execution that angered them plus all the false advertising who claimed Joel would take part to Ellie's journey and this one would be the only playable character. Maybe Joel could have died in the middle of the game or near the end.
I love how Watchmojo names the Origami Killer’s reveal as the worst plot twist, then shortly later as the best plot twist. Real good job

I did like shooting Jill in the chest with the magnum to break the control thing. It was a good way to vent frustration during that irritating fight. You couldn't shoot the boulder.

Jason Todd is barely mentioned in the previous Arkham games because he's believed to be dead. As for Batman's sudden remorse, I would have to say that ties in with the doses of fear toxin he's been hit with and his subsequent hallucination about Barbara's death. It just brings his failure to save Jason to the foreground again.
There's also the thing that Rocksteady said that Arkham Knight was a "new character" previous release so everybody expected to not redo the Jason Todd story again because it was already told.

Two things
They never explain how a female only bikini skin is one of the best armors for female operatives. (Not just quiet, there is bikini armor for females at mother base)
And there actually is a skin option for quiet with "breathable" fabric clothes but only one, that you can only get with max affinity.
I really thought Cortana's betrayal in Halo 5 would be here as it undoes all the emotional impact of Halo 4.

I personally thought Halo 4 was a little too out there, but I also will point out there is an important message everyone missed: Cortana betrays the Chief and Humanity; Microsoft named their AI Cortana; likely chance they are trying to tell us that she will betray us all too.

Scott being the Origami Killer was actually a really clever twist, but one that was terribly executed. With better writing, it could have been amazing.

You gotta admit though, the plot twist about the child in Detroit Become Human was even dumber, because it basically changed NOTHING. It was just there for the sake of there being a plot twist
I think La Noire plot twist showed that he wasn’t the perfect detective that we thought he was, I never saw it as a bad plot twist but that’s just my opinion
I connected to him better cause he was flawed yet was a great detective. Same for the show True Detective

I kept joking with my friend I was playing with saying "they keep mentioning the bus driver. What if we're the bus driver in this all in our head?" Then we laughed. I was so mad to be right all I could do was laugh at the ending.
I feel it depends on how people minds work, if people don’t figure it out then it’s a pretty badass twist, but if you pay attention then the ending is cliche and predictable, I didn’t see it coming so tbh I was quite shocked, it is a very depressing ending
@@coreycasciano3255 see my least favorite trope is the "none of it happened it was all in the head of a mad man" it's so overplayed. Man of Medan worked because it was reasonable. But now my fear with future SuperMassive games are that it'll always be a "yeah it was humans all along" endings. I liked Until Dawn because of it's super natural element. Little Hopes enemies and locations were great, until you find out none of it existed 🤣

I figured it out quick but the story about a broken man battling his trauma and demons help enforce the twist. It really works for me and made the second play through a different experience with everyone interacting with others

The last two games supermassive released was basically it didn't happen there is nothing supernatural going on which will spoil their next games if they chose to go down that route again. Personally I dislike man of medan more because that twist is easy to figure out quickly and ruins all replay potential. I like the parts in the 1600s and the characters in present day.

I hope I'm not the only one who finds Fallout 4 plot twist is actually acceptable, or even more than just acceptable.
I mean, as much as my heart aches as I kinda had to admit that Shaun is old and has cancer and is the boogyman behind everything, I do appreciate such a sad ending to the sole survivor.
Feels better than just waking up from a pot 210 years later and finally reuniting with your son. Because that would seem too ordinary.
Yeah, I actually thought that twist worked pretty well. It's a bit unreasonable to wake up and expect that no time has passed since you were frozen.
I personally found it very predictable. There is also the plot hole with the Institute having the technology to extend the lifespan of a hired thug like Kellogg to over a 100 while only looking around 50 yet they would not do the same for the head of the institute.
@@Ginkgo_leaf_3000 extending someone's lifespan may only be possible if they are otherwise healthy. It's insinuated that Shaun has some kind of disease (probably cancer).
@@scottbecker4367maybe but I just find it hard to believe that Kellogg who has spent his entire life out in the toxic wasteland would be healthier than Sean who has spent almost his entire life within the protection of the institute and who's genetic purity was the base for the gen 3 androids.
@@Ginkgo_leaf_3000 Very observant about that. Though it could be there's a high enough chance the technology could cause some serious side effects, and the heads don't wanna take the risk. But maybe Kellogg doesn't care much about dying and accepted the tech, and the side effect didn't occur to him. Anyway, the game didn't tell us about any of that.
What’s funny about Orsino’s fate is that you can ask Varric about it in Inquisition, and even he is baffled by how it didn’t make sense but that it simply happened
I mean, think of it this way: Dragon Age 2 is told through Varric's POV. If you side with the mages, Varric telling Cassandra Orsino turning into a corpse monster via blood magic could be an elaborate lie to protect Orsino and hide the fact that he and many mages escaped. Side with the Templars, he could be lying about it to make the mages look worse than what they really were, therefore making Meredith's harsh rule more justified. That's how I try to explain it away anyway lol.
Orsino's fate was just.......DUMB. Ugh. Like the guy just caves under pressure and turns into a monster for no real reason.

Mario 2 wasn't a dream. Here's the sequence of events: Mario dreamed about Subcon, then he found it and had his adventure with his friends, then he dreamed about what had happened to him after the fact. Many characters such as Birdo, Shy-Guys, Bob-ombs etc., even appear later in the series.
Joel's death wasn't a plot twist; it was the impetus for the entire plot.
I absolutely loved the twist that Sean was the leader of the Institute. For me, it fits perfectly with the overall grey tine of the postapocalyptic world, there's no good or bad, it all depends on your perspective. Also, I believe Pythagoras was chosen because he was one of the wisest men of antiquity, they couldn't take Plato or Aristotle because they were too young at the time.
For real! That was an awesome plot twist. Idk how it made the list.

"These are so bad because these were so unexpected" That is what a plot twist is, dummy, its unexpected, it is supposed to make you think.
It takes more than being unexpected for a plot twist to be good. A plot twist has to make sense, meaning if you look back at the story you'll be able to spot all the clues that foreshadow the twist. Probably the best example of this is The Sixth Sense where we see multiple clues that Bruce Willis's character was a ghost the whole time.

Joel dying would have been perfectly fine if he didn't die so early. An established character dying by the hands of a not yet established character was an awful idea. Abby should have been flesh out 1st seen her back story know exactly how she feels then build up to the moment she comes face to face with Joel where she succeeds on her goal.
Instead, the first impression we have is one of a moronic woman and for some people, no amount of story that comes after will change the initial impression they had of her.
Rehandling the pacing and structure of the game would've done a lot of good, it was such an odd choice.
Imo this game would've been better had they simply removed Abby's side of the story, let the player go through Ellie's story in one go, end the game and released Abby's story as a DLC at a later date. This could've been interesting to see how people reacted to that after everyone already made up their mind about what happened.
Missed opportunity imo.
I believe that Naughty Dog were trying to repeat the first game; Joel's daughter, Sarah, dies at the start of the game, and it's incredibly tragic and heart-breaking - even though we knew it was going to happen, since Sarah wasn't on the cover. So, Naughty Dog thought they would repeat the same impact by killing Joel, but it didn't work.

I thought the Fallout 4 twist just made sense and Orsino used blood magic because he knew that either way, use it or not, mages would always be persecuted so he might as well become the monster they will always call him.

@Connor Stevens Pff, that's bullshit! John was always destined to die in RDR1 cause the feds mindfucked him into believing he would have a peaceful life after his deeds were done. The game was literally filled with not so subtle foreshadowing we already knew how the game would end before even reaching the last act. His death wasn't shocking after all, it was telegraphed since the beginning of the game.

Joel Dying is not smart but ok. But the way he died was so disrespectful and violent. Players were attached to him they knew he was going to die IN THE END but they killed him like John Wick's puppy.
I love Joel. He’s a complicated guy, and he feels real. But the shit he’s done, he had it coming and he knew it. Yeah it’s brutal and awful but that’s the point.

I don’t see him dying any other way to be honest, and I definitely don’t think that him sacrificing himself or dying in a badass way is fitting at all for the story and the world they live in. I would say Desmond himself dying was worst than him killing Lucy, that ended the series for me.
One of the worst tropes in videogames and tv is "It WaS aLl A dReAm".
Or "It was in the mind of a mad man"
The only good one I can think of was Newhart (1980s)in the final episode the main character gets hit by a golf ball then he wakes up and the whole show was a dream of The Bob Newhart Show (1970s) so the finale of the 80s sitcom was also a crossover and reunion of the 70s sitcom.

The only time I saw that particular plot twist work was in an episode of Batman the animated series where Mad Hatter tried to trap Batman in a dream but he noticed strange anomalies and occurrences which suggested it was all in his head.
@@TheSonOfTheDragon that’s a great example and the reason that it worked is being Batman still went on a journey that developed him more as a character. Why is that bad? Little Hope was all in the bud drivers head but he still battle his trauma and demons. The emotional journey and character arc was still really, just in a metaphorical journey, not literal but still a real journey

I still don't understand Watchmojo, do you think that Raiden being revealed to be the main character in Metal Gear Solid 2 is a good or shit plot twist, because you have added the twist on your best plot twists in video games list, and also on your worst plot twists in video games list, you need to pick one, you can't place the twist on both lists because it doesn't make any sense.

Being smart enough to know that it was Jill under the mask the entire time in RE5 doesn't make it a bad plot twist. It makes it very predictable, but not bad. It was actually a great twist, of course Wesker is the kind of delicious bastard who would mind control Jill into doing his bidding and attacking Chris.
The real plot twist is Jill being blonde instead of brunette. Has Wesker been maintaining her hair all this time?
For most people, it wouldn’t even become obvious that Jill is the masked women until Chris’ flashback, unless they saw one of the RE 5 commercials that basically spoils that plot twist. People like to pretend that they predicted character reveals just so they can look smarter than everyone else.
@@Majin72 the experiments that Wesker performed on Jill caused her to loose pigmentation in her body. This is why her hair has turned blonde.
Joel’s death was not a plot twist. But if you want to talk about the worst plot twist in any video game, you could put the moment we switch character to play as Abby. In theorie how the story is constructed in the Last of Us Part II is quite interesting, but the execution was so bad. They try too much to show that Abby was a nice person, instead of trying to make her story interesting. So it ends up with the most boring section of any game ever. It was predictable, cliché, the characters were empty and Naughty Dog tried so hard to make a story so dark, so serious and so violent that sometimes it was pure comedy. Naughty loses their talents as writer and loses my respect.

The issue with tlou 2 is we play as Abbey after the death so we have NO sympathy for her
They don't want you to sympathize with her.... but pity her instead. It WAS her fault essentially her friends died, the WLF got eviscerated and the Seraphites went down in a literal blaze. Anyone else really like the fallout 4 twist? The game was just fine but the twist kinda surprised me, I liked it.

Killing Joel wasn't a plot twist, it was just a plot point. For Ellie to go off on a revenge mission (like the trailer very clearly hinted at) it had to he him that died, he was the only person close enough to her that would warrant that

If Joel wasn't killed off the way he was, there'd be no reason for Ellie to venture out on the manhunt she did. And then there's be no story to the game. Also people forget that Joel wasn't a saint himself, he did some shady/bad things that were eventually going to catch-up to him.

Regarding MGS2 I personally think it's brilliant. The game straight up uses a meta critic about fake information and hoax. Also, I don't understand the Raiden hate boner, personally liked the guy.
Raiden becomes a badass cyborg after being horribly mutilated, he’s an awesome character. Imo, Metal Gear is full of inspiring plot points and great characters
It's even better when you view raiden as a massive 'Take THAT!' against the _players of the game_ . Kojima literally had the balls to make raiden an analogue for the average gamer ('Simulations' instead of 'Video Games', Many other characters basically saying 'I came prepared... why didn't you?, and all of the moments where raiden was caught flat-footed by all the typical MGS bullshit).

Joel’s death wasn’t the worst plot twist in the game. The worst plot twist is the fact that you’re forced to play as his torturer and killer for the rest of the 10 hours of the game.
I hated that. I also didn’t like that you never got your revenge. I get that it doesn’t go with Ellie’s arc but she could’ve at least seen someone kill her and that would’ve been good enough for me.
I had no idea about Jason Todd. But that’s also because prior to playing that game, I’d never heard of him!
Shaun ending up being Father in Fallout. Spent tons of hours playing up until then and just quit after. Terrible twist.

The Quiet "plot twist" isn't really a plot twist. It's just a character trait. The Venom Snake twist at the end of the game though was stupid.
The truly bad plot twist in TLOU2 isn’t that Joel died at the beginning, it’s how Ellie committed genocide to bystanders throughout the whole game and magically changed her mind when it came to the “antagonist” at the end

I strongly disagree with Little Hope. The whole plot of the game is a tragic character that was accused falsely of murdering his family . He then reimagines the witch trial characters as his family to cope . During the witch trials people were falsely accused left and right of being witches and demons and condemned . The game pays tributes to the victims by showing that all of the monsters in game weren’t real just like all the illusions during the witch trials which weren’t real . People were murdered for something that wasn’t real .
