I caught my PB last Sunday on a 6'6" Fenwick spinning rod. I've caught way more fish on a spinning rod than a baitcaster. What ever you feel comfortable and confident with should be the deciding factor.
I agree to a point, there is a thing called presentation that each set up is better for depending on technique. That doesn't mean it cannot be done on both setups.
Spinning rods were the only rods that my Pops bought. Pops lost his thumb in the Army, in a heavy equipment accident. That is why I always bought spinning rods. That's what he was able to use and had to teach me with. He had one fly rod and I remember that he wore bream out with it. Then I bought flyrods. I bought my first baitcaster about 2 years ago. Now I have 8, still have issues but I'm getting better. Still going to use both but more accurate with a spinning rod.
Love that Randizzle made and rocking that AMAZING Gadsden Shirt thank you Randy. It was a great video and the “Oohhh”?? Lol was Epic and Debo and Randy definitely need there own TV show..
Spinning is my preferred, I grew up saltwater fishing tho. Freshwater folks seem to think spinning gear lacks power but I've witnessed many people catch 30-40 pound redfish, 20+ pound amberjack, 100+ pound tarpon, etc plenty of power works fine, ironically I've never seen anyone catch any of these on a baitcaster. I do find it funny tho, in a banter fashion how spinning gear lacks power for 5-10 pound bass yet absolutely slay some of the hardest fighting fish in the sea with little struggle. I've yet to catch a bass which fought has hard as a redfish pound for pound let alone an amberjack which are notorious for being very difficult to land at size due to how much they fight and are known for maxing out a reels drag and taking all the line with it lol. To me it's preference I enjoy the experience of a baitcaster, it's hard to deny they are fun but everything a baitcaster offers a spinning reel can do just as well with none of the cons (weight requirement, wind, or birdnesting) so to me a spinning reel is just superior in every way from accuracy, to distance/hitting a pocket every time casting. I really do enjoy baitcasters tho, I had a lot of fun learning how to use them, would love to learn how to fly fish as well, their not bad reels I just feel a spinning reel is superior in every way, go check out some saltwater videos you see folks landing 100+ pound tarpon left and right, if they can do that they can handle any sized bass (which ironically really do not fight all that much).
I appreciate additional insights on the various ways you can rig (line selection in particular), bait, place casts, and catch bass on various spinning setups. Thanks Debo!
@@datruthhurts3984 I fish the same type of lakes and ponds Debo fishes (muddy waters). I also use the same soft-plastic baits Debo uses (Senkos, Zoom worms, and creature baits).
Enjoyed watching that vid👍. I’m never ashamed to tote a spinning rig. Most of the time I’m carrying two baitcast setups and two spinning rigs. Use ‘em on every trip. If you want to make more spinning vids do an ultralight outing fishing little poppers, baby crank baits and of course rooster tails. It’s a hoot to fish like that and when you hook up on a good bass quite the challenge to land it.
I’m 61 and used to use spinning rods exclusively. My son finally shamed me into using a bait caster this past summer. I now own 3 baitcasters, but I still use my spinning rods for the finesse stuff (rooster tails, weightless flukes, wacky rig). I’d enjoy seeing you fish more with a spinning rod, always fun to see different approaches.
Any spinning tips and tricks would be great I have just started getting into fishing and all I currently have is spinning reels. I appreciate all the videos and your teaching method. It is very helpful for us rookies to have some easy instruction to follow.
Spinning combo is essential for successful bass feesh'n. I contemplated getting a MH one just for doing walking baits/poppers this fall. I had a father and son notice me on the water after checking out my vids, it was really cool! Love talking to fans on the water!
Yesssss, more spinning combo videos! Maybe like a top 5 video for spinning lures. Or just showing off how versatile spinning combos can be. Sure would be excellent!

Up until recently, I would never pick up my spinning combo. Now I keep a weightless stick bait tied on and use it for skipping under overhanging trees and docks. It might take me 10 tries to hit the spot I’m aiming for, but I never get a birds nest.
I only fish with spinning tackle. With my kast king sharky 3 reel which can be used for salt and fresh water, my spinning setup is ready for whatever fishing I want to do. I throw every kind of freshwater lure including large swimbaits and the 130 size whopper plopper and have no problem catching large fish. I have maybe caught 50 bass that weigh 7 pounds and above and have never had an issue with it being on a spinning set up.
I love my spinning reels as I know a lot of others do. Have been killing it this year with drop shot & whacky rig. Would absolutely love seeing more on spinning rig set ups! Keep up the great work!
I have as many spinning rods as I do baitcasters. Have both in the truck at all times. Started out spinning and about a year ago bought my first baitcaster off FB for $15. I ain't proud! If I had to use a cane pole and a cork to fish I would! As long as I can go fishing I am happy. Nice change of pace👍👍

Hey Debo! Shimano spinning reels. Which one would you choose for your type of fishing if cost wasn’t an issue, AND if costs was an issue? Thanks for the help and very enjoyable videos.
@@DEBOSFishing Thank you for the response Debo, I think I'm just weak af haha.. but thank you for creating high quality content so frequently, you and Richard Gene the fishing machine are my heros~
I noticed when you cast you barely (seemingly) put any power behind it, yet it goes a mile (Eg around 11:15 or 11:30 on your video ). It’s a technique I can’t seem to master especially when I need it around dense vegetation around me when I need to cast strait in front of me . What am I doing wrong ? If I do that it doesn’t go anywhere! Lol

@@baldyhead1 yeah, you're probably going with too light of lures on a rod that's too stiff. Pick up a medium power spinning rod. Great for lures up to 1/4 oz. If you're using a lot of cast and retrieve lures, look for a medium rod with more of a moderate fast tip. It will load up the rod a lot easier.

As always good stuff. 🎣
Always appreciate you watching, Bob!
i use spinning rig for all my texas rig fishing , call me weird but it works
Nah, just use what you prefer!
Yeah Debo love seeing some attention for spinning gear. Can you give a little more attention to tackle to throw on spinning gear?
Yes, I can definitely do some more vids on spinning setups!

dude you got me into throwing swimjigs
Nice! Hope you hook up on some good fish!
Since I’m new to bass fishing I have all spinning reels. It would be nice to learn more about pitching with a spinning reel. I’m a budget fisherman out here in Los Angeles and don’t want to go out and buy a bunch of casters yet so any spinning reel tips you have would be much appreciated! Thanks for the great content!
I can certainly do a video on that!
I would like to know your thoughts on 2 piece fishing rods. What is the best kind to use with bait-casters for worm or jig fishing or even crankbait. I can’t take my regular rods on family vacations because there is no room. Any thoughts would help, Thanks
I personally don't use two piece rods anymore. I'm a one-piece guy.
Hey Debo! Shimano spinning reels. Which one would you choose for your type of fishing if cost wasn’t an issue, AND if costs was an issue? Thanks for the help and very enjoyable videos.
Drop shots!🙌
How do you like the Tatula rod? I have the caster version of it with a fuego reel, tad bit heavy imo
I love that rod. It feels good on the spinning rig. The casting version i have is a small medium. So it doesn't feel heavy. But the larger models may.
@@DEBOSFishing Thank you for the response Debo, I think I'm just weak af haha.. but thank you for creating high quality content so frequently, you and Richard Gene the fishing machine are my heros~
I learn something new about #fishing
I only fish banks and piers, and spinning reels. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
I'd be happy to share some tips for the spinning reel!
Frog fishing with spinning reels in heavy structure is a little like bringing a knife to a gun fight... it usually doesn't end in your favor.
I totally agree and don't recommend it!
I would like to try it with a spinning rod designed for catfish
I noticed when you cast you barely (seemingly) put any power behind it, yet it goes a mile (Eg around 11:15 or 11:30 on your video ). It’s a technique I can’t seem to master especially when I need it around dense vegetation around me when I need to cast strait in front of me . What am I doing wrong ? If I do that it doesn’t go anywhere! Lol
I think a lot of it is release point. Does yours do a high arc?
DEBO'S Fishing it kinda shoots down like 5 ft in front of me . I know , it’s gotta be release point right ? I’m aware of it but don’t think I’m doing anything that wrong . Heck I don’t know . Glad I didn’t set my sights on being a professional pitcher!
@@baldyhead1 yeah, releasing too late. Are you using a medium heavy spinning rod?
DEBO'S Fishing yup!
Infamous Debo lol Thank's buddy👍
Haha just out here catching some feesh 👊
Have you ever tried them Portable fish finders
all my fishing has been done on spinning combos. been thinking of getting my first baitcaster. I know each has there pros and cons. hey Debo have you tried the Jack Hammer Chatterbait Stealth Blade yet?
I just picked up a stealth blade but haven't fished it yet.
