Kiwi is my favorite VR accessory maker, period. They recently had an Instagram raffle, and I won the G4 grips. After I reached out to let them know I wouldn’t get any use from them (I use the Touch Pro Controllers), they reply and tell me I can trade it out for an H4 boost! I was expecting maybe a facial interface, but that value proposition alone was too good to pass up. I was prepared to straight up sell it, as Bobo‘s halo strap wasn’t to my taste, but figured I would try it out once. Instantly hooked; the design is fabulous, but getting it for free is just the cherry on top.
I would consider this if i wasnt so deep, deep in the bobo world. With a battery charger and extra batteries. Quest 3 just lives on shelf and eats bobo batteries for lunch while i go about my day, I dont really need to plug in the headset anymore after i got it, which is SO NICE. Its always topped up and I'll hot swap a new battery before i start playing. After going from Metas official batterystrap I have never been playing and suddenly abrupted by a headset that calls it a day mid game (because i ignored the low-bat notification😂) Also nice to bring the quest with two full bobo batteries and a topped up quest knowing full well they'll do the job that day or night without needing the awkward, "ok guys that was a fun 2 hours" "now everything is dead so we need to stop and wait for ages.... " This headstrap looks way cleaner though I have to say. Also the arms go over the ports with a cutout like it should. Bobo has this akward friction mount where you feel like you're doing something wrong the first time you mount it ... Either way cool headstrap, but as you state in this video, the interchangable batteries is just too convenient to actually swap brands for me at least. And I dont have the longest sessions. But knowing full well that i can play for endless hours if the time is right is super valuable to me.
I think we're in the same boat. I'm fully submerged in the BoboVR ecosystem. But if Kiwi ever adopts those extra features I'll jump ship immediately. For some people comfort will be everything, in which case I think this wins. But a lot of us have been spoiled by the battery solution. It's been nice always have batteries charged and ready to go.
@@10speed4 if you don't plan on playing more than 4 hours at a time, I'd go with Kiwi and the dock. It's more affordable and now it's more comfortable. That wasn't the case two weeks ago. But if money is no object and you play all day every day, then it's BoboVR for the battery solution. I really can't wait for the day where I'm able to say "Kiwi" without hesitation and without all these if/else conditions.
I’m also totally immersed in BOBOVR with the headset and batteries with a dock. I do wonder if that Kiwi headset goes with The HiBlocks charging dock! Lol

Great review, really appreciate your insight both positive and negative on the halo from kiwi. love your channel too - honest reviews from someone who is passionate about VR. I have the Kiwi design head strap and dock and knuckle grips - so this is a no brainer to get the halo design - it's not on Amazon in Australia so will be buying direct. Keep up the great work
I've watched a couple of your videos before. You seem down to earth but don't seem to bs either. I ended up grabbing a Quest 3. Biggest challenge for me coming from PSVR2 is the front heavy weight. I tried the Bobo with the fan. Fan was great, but I felt like the only way to get it to sit right I had to really clamp it. I have a head as tall as Bert from Sesame Street, so those plastic things on top hurt, but taking them off didn't feel right either. I've heard a lot about Kiwi and I just ordered this one. I'm hoping with the strap on top and the extra adjustments it distributes the weight better. Not sure if it would be lighter too or not. I swear by Globular Cluster for PSVR2. This almost reminds me of the look of it. But yeah. Insightful vid.
@SpiderLuke thanks. Glad it helped. I think it's more comfortable than the BoboVR, and it's possible you could bail on the top strap altogether. You'd have to let me know how that goes.
@bringhurstvr I tried it for a couple days now and I find it so much better. I'm sure Bobo works for some people, but there were pressure points on there I couldn't ignore after a while. The Quest is still a weighty device especially coming from PSVR2, but I think Kiwi did a good job figuring out how to balance it with all the adjustments on it. Not feeling pressure anymore. Just rests nice and easy. That cord just flops around on the side of you unplug it, so I keep it plugged in. That's minor. Overall, I'm a lot happier now, and your video did help push me in the right direction. Thank you!
@@bringhurstvr oh, I don't mind the top strap on the Kiwi. Haven't tried taking it off there. Those top nubs or whatever you want to call them on the Bobo I didn't care for. Those came off, but something felt off still when I did that. I think how the Kiwi has that front adjustable part really helped moreso for me. I don't notice the Kiwi strap or find that one so much a bother.
Hey, thanks for the video :) I was wondering if the top strap can be completely removed? And also if the sliding adjustments on the sides allow the headset to be pressed firmly enough against one's face to prevent wobbling while being active?
@@DavidRusso the sliding adjustments are strong enough and I didn't have any trouble with wobbling. As far as the top strap, I gave it to my Dad who uses a Quest 3S. But I'll be reviewing a headstrap shortly that offers a halo design and hot swappable batteries. More importantly, they don't appear to use the top strap at all. So telling you how that works should speak to this as well.
Huh? You already sold me on the Yoges docking station. It looked amazing! Just kidding. If all goes well I plan on order the kiwi or BoBo strap sometime next week.
Just got mine today. I notice the rear wheel isn’t ratcheted . Is it meant to be? Just seems to work loose as there nothing stopping it moving back and forth

My favorite strap has been the cheap aliexpress one I got for 15 bucks.

What do you mean by ratcheted? Does it click when you turn it? Does it tighten and stay tight?

Terrible headstrap! Why can't you remove the top velcro strap?

It looks like PSVR but i'll bet it's worse.
