I am fortunate enough to rub elbows with some of the best shooters in Canada and I would like to thank Grant for being so gracious and putting up with my relentless filming. You are good people brother!

Lets put everything on the table here. Grant has several advantages that cannot be argued. He is younger, lighter, his joints have much less wear and tear, his eyes are faster due to his age. You can argue those are variables as they are but they cannot be denied or overlooked. You do not see 40-50yr men competing in boxing, running, tennis, whatever against 20 yr olds for these very reasons. There are a few outliers of course but apples to apples if skills are the same, Grant should always be faster. He should take full advantage of it while he can because time will work against him as well as it does us all.

George Foreman was 45 when he regained the Heavyweight Championship of the world. I’m 47, so maybe there is a chance?

Still, well done to you too, I doubt if I could match your speed (52 y/o myself but with multiple health issues).
There should be a separate 'veteran shooter' class for the likes of us ;)
Interesting idea about the pump pillow, that's not legal in our (semi-benchrest) matches here but I can imagine it provides quite a bit of support and stability.

I am 47 and the pump pillow is legal in our (open/unlimited) division

All good comments.....that all said let me ask.....why isn't the "proper" stance, prone, seen being done here by either shooter?....meaning, laying straight and square behind the gun instead of at an angle? Not being a wise guy or trying to be argumentative, but a real question, .....this point is often stressed as being proper form. Comments?...thoughts?...not important?

Nope, an ideal question and one rarely asked. The main reason for the sloppy form is this is a timed stage and speed is just as important as accuracy, so corners must be cut or you time out and leave points on the table. Every shooter has a bare minimum amount of time they invest into each and every position they get into and some (most) are a balance of never enough and just right. If you notice myself and Grant have very similar prone positions because both of us know we don’t need to invest a lot of time to “set” the prone ideally because we are both very confident in our abilities with it sloppy (based on target size, distance, time remaining) Makes sense?
