“..Our love must also be directed inward. If we love her, and hate ourselves, she will feel our pain. Forever I will have no other mistress!” What a powerful quote tho. Always love you!
I really love the good daedra’s connections to Lorkhan. Especially in the Khajiit pantheon, with Azura extracting the darkness from Lorkaj’s torn open chest, Mephala being allied with Lorkaj, and Boethra wearing the death shroud of Lorkaj and waging war on the lunar lattice
@@Priceluked True, they refused too help him, and yet you have the 3 Daedra who lead the Chimer to Resdayn to live a life that Lorkhan would be pleased with, and the Psyjic Endeavor. Still, Lorkhan seems more of a Daedric Prince than an Aedra, and given his nature, well... I'm surprised Auriel had fallen for the trap, but maybe Lorkhan's trickster nature and his "beguiling promises" were enough to sway him. Regardless, my homie Trinimac took care of the problem, at least for that moment 😎
35:20 You guys are forgetting how useful Azura's ring was. Running drained your fatigue in Morrowind so you had to take breaks from running and walk to let your fatigue replenish in case you ran into an enemy. Azura's ring is the only enchanted object in game that constantly restores your fatigue so you could run all day long without worrying about your fatigue draining. Just a little nitpick but otherwise great video, I hope we get the Dagoth Ur podcast soon!
I believe the reason Azura changed Chymer into the Dunmer was that she wanted all the chymer to realize that such a betrayal by the 'three' has a price to pay. It's intended as a reminder, simply by looking into a mirror that betrayal is the worst thing you could do to her.
I mean that makes more sense than thinking of it as punishing the whole race. Otherwise she would have done worse tan changing their skin and eye color.
Because lets be honest, the punishment isn't really that harsh. I'd compare it to mother taking away her kid toy. Not to bad, but it show "behave yourself"
The three of you are so authentic, genuine, and just real. The two of you still are ✨and we love Drewmora forever, but some of these concepts just go so deep and y’all dig even deeper I love it 🙏
So, okay, my thoughts regarding Azura's curse on the dark elves may very well not actually be a curse. I mean, yeah, the fact that their appearance changed to a decidedly more "hideous" or vile form in comparison to the Chimer seems bad, but what I suggest is this: the Tribunal may not have necessairly known what they were getting into when they started to tamper with the heart of Lorkharn. In fact, maybe their interference with it severed Azura's ties to the Chimer race, ultimately revoking her influence over them and instead becoming connected to the land of the Red Mountain via the Heart's divine connection to the Dunmeri race. It seems easy to suggest that Azura actively turned them, but it could be the case that, as the Tribunal appeared the victors of this historic event, they were the ones who got to write history, no? Surely would love to see FudgeMuppet's thoughts on this assuming I'm not horribly misugided in this manic-theory lmao
I am leaning towards a similar thought process, that them playing around with powers beyond their understanding, an artefact that we know can affect an entire civilization at once despite only a lone individual tampering with it. For all we know, the Tribunal caused the change and then blamed Azura. That quotation that Vivec wrote down suggests it, that it is not her action but theirs.
Yep, the concept that they wrote the History, and decided to blame Azura for it isn't outside of the "Unreliable Narrator" idea either I actually like this theory, seems something Vivec may say, honestly. And given the lack of presence from the 3 Daedric Princes for a long time in Morrowind, well it would be easily believable. Maybe they can't even change the color back, who knows 😅
Interestingly, even though Boethiah is the anticipation of Almalexia, I always thought Azura was a much better fit; Almalexia's consuming concern for her people's love, the careful cultivation of her public image, and her wrath when crossed which belies the "loving mother" persona-those all point much more to Azura.
Really late reply, but my theory on why the anticipations mirror each of the Tribunal in canon is because they mirror the worst aspects of the Tribunal. Vivec and Mephala because vivec lies constantly to himself and his people and wants to be everything despite in sothas words "he can only be vivec", Azura and Sotha sil because they both are devoted providers of their followers even if they get hurt in the process be it mentally or etc, and almalexia and boethia because Almalexia betrays everyone around her, constant revolt and warlike behavior.

Awesome pod, guys. As a Ye Olde Loremaster from the Daggerfall/Morrowind days, it's really heartwarming to see people captivated this in the same way I was twenty years later.
For the record, the Ring of Azura was quite a good item in Morrowind. Permanent enchantments (as opposed to ones you had to activate) were extremely rare in Morrowind, and permanent enchantments that restored your resource pools were almost unheard of. Usually, to attain such an item required a Grand Soul Gem filled with a grand soul (typically a Golden Saint) worth 60,000 gold. So the fact that the Ring of Azura restores 3 Fatigue per second on type of Night Eye is pretty impressive by the standard of magic items in that game.
@@feeler6670 yeah it’s cool but your probably just going to get bullied if your like oh by the way I was named after a obsessive god from the elder scrolls series but that’s the funny part
I think it's also worth considering that Azura who values love, affection and loyalty more than the other daedric princes would be affected more by these aspects. Which makes it more painful when she's betrayed because its like someone you always cherish always betrays you. Plus negative emotions are more powerful in terms of spontaneous effect which would explain why her spiteful side can be extreme.
Azura has Borderline Personality Disorder. She is social and desires relationships, but separates the world into two categories of “all good” and “entirely evil”. This is called Splitting. Initially, followers are entirely good and beloved by Azura, but one mistake can put you into the “evil” category, where she has no problems acting atrociously. Interesting stuff!
This video is amazing in the fact that it's making me write my own headcanon of the relationships between deadra even more. In such a multi-planar way never once did I consider how close they would work together or even communicate. All from the merethic-3rd era "partnerships" between Princes seem like a family of misfits more than anything. I wish we could explore those somehow in the dawn-ish era. Here's to hoping for Elder Scrolls 8: Realms in 2055.
17:40 I think the Skyrim quest with Azura's Star is very telling of the unseen capabilities of daedric artifacts. I would be willing to bet that EACH AND EVERY Daedric artifact has just as much "untapped potential" as the Skeleton Key. I think actually performing this feat requires some level of willpower, perhaps the same required to achieve Chim, but maybe it's pure magical prowess and knowledge. I do think that the sheer belief that you CAN change the artifact is the most important aspect, whether you are just stubborn and free-willed (like early history), or have researched and found that Daedric artifacts have had different effects and appearances over the years, deducing that mortals could change them somehow. I would really love to see a series of quests for each and every Daedric artifact where it's done the same justice as these two, it's really awesome to see how magic can bend the rules of reality and with enough power you can bend the rules of magic.

Azura is my favorite Daedric Prince. I love her whole aesthetic, mythology with the Chimer and Dunmer and that she is pretty much the closest to being "good" for a Daedra. She loves her followers, want them to love themselves, and love her in return. I say that's a price I'd be willing to pay if I lived in TES and had to chose a god. /The Aedra are too bureaucratic with the church and distant for the average worshipper, plus I don't really trust them due to the whole thing with Lorkhan/.
TBH the being distant to their followers is kind of because the Aedra are in a semi-comatose state and cannot influence the world as much as the daedra but other than that I kinda agree with you.
Azura is my 5th favorite Daedra love her. Also I understand her and she is quite straightforward. First favorite is a tie between Sheogorath and Hircine, Second favorite is Sanguine, Third favorite is Malocath, then Azura, then Molag Bal.
though heavily pixelated and somewhat censored i found myself strangely attracted to the visage of azura on the so called "thumb-Nail" formed from the scrying springs of oblivion. Pre - Godhood Sotha Sil, scrying youtube from within the Dream.
Love the podcast series. I think a cool addition would be a discussion at the end of your hopes for future content in regards to your topic. Like how would you like to have Azura explored in further games etc. Especially as I’ve watched a most of your content and have heard a lot of it already. Love hearing you guys bounce off each other which is why this is so enjoyable. But love having some questions asked to think about after the end of the podcasts. Good work guys!
*"The rim of all holes."* Now that's one piece of TES Lore on the Mother Soul I'll never forget. Lmao 🤣 Thanks so much for the Podcast(s), they're so interesting and awesome. Definitely looking forward to the one on The Sharmat. Good luck, stay safe, and keep it up!
You know after you guys mentioned Azura's crazy ex vibes and then talking about Maphala and Boethia hanging out together and just their whole relationship together with the Dunmer I can't help but think of them almost like the mean girl clique of the Daedric Princes.
I feel like I’m the only person who thinks this, but I feel like azura isn’t the prince of dusk and dawn, or prophecies. She’s the daedric prince of change. She is represented by dusk and dawn, of changing from night to day, or day to night. She changes some random race into khajiit, she changes aldmer into chimer, she changes chimer into dunmer. Her main artifact, azura’s star, can be changed into the black star. She also creates prophecies, or another way of looking at it is changing fate. She also changes that one dwemer from alive to dead. Edit: Also, I know most people attribute change to padomai and mehrunes dagon, but their change is different. Padomai is uncontrolled change, and is more concept than anything else, while mehrunes dagon is closer to revolution, rather than outright change. Azura is controlled change.
Actually, I have a theory that Azura didn’t curse them, but rather instantaneously cause the change that would have naturally occurred had the Chimer stayed in Morrowind. If you look at every race of elves, the Bosmer, the Maormer, the Falmer, and the Altmer, they’re appearances are all dependent on the land they live with, wood elves all have a brownish skin akin to the woods they live in. Snow elves have skin pale as the snow. Maormer developed features you’d expect from creatures that live in the sea. And Altmer have a bright golden skin akin to the bright golden atmosphere often associated with the Summerset Isles, so it makes sense that perhaps the chimer would like wise begin to become grey like the ash of their new home. But why would Azura do this? To prove to herself how vain the Tribunal were by them rejecting what would naturally happen in favor of maintaining their own image, incidentally her point was only half proven, forever remaining in the balance.
The first part reminds me of a Haitian Vodou spirit that comes from Western Africa called Erzulie. She's said to get really upset over those who serve her and then forget about her.
I dont even know why I love TES lore so much lol, it's just fascinating that someone or even a group of people could write something so grandeous. Even if it is just adaptations of many common fantasy tropes and religious ideas. That's what's cool about it though. I love all the pantheon stuff and the fact every race was fleshed out enough to have their own beliefs and interpretations on similar concepts, philosophies and history.
There are 3 fundental groups that all Princes can be sorted into. Driven by Honor Driven by Self Driven by Mortals Honorbound Hircine can seem cruel, and Self-serving Molag Bal can be unjust, but it is the Princes who find fulfillment in man and mer that are the most terrifying. For all the love Azura has leads her to hope, and the actions of betrayal turn her to spite.
Azura out here like 'don't worry sweet child, i will genuinely kick your ass if you don't learn to love yourself' tbh maybe the fear of pissing her off is actually enough to cure depression but also the fact that she genuinely just seem sto be so much more intimate with her people -- like they're *her people* rather than just her followers -- than other gods... it's nice, and I think having that sort of presence in your life could be a really positive thing, especially for some people like, having grown up with an emotionally-abusive mother, I can very much see how that sort of experience might lead one to turn to Azura, and her relatively simpler 'love me, love yourself' desire/expectation feels like it'd be a whole lot easier and a whole lot healthier especially since it'd have a pretty good chance of leading to you discovering a community, like with real-world church -- it's why 'atheist church' is a thing, after all er, anyways azura pretty, i'll continue watching now lmfao
32:00 that elf guy didn't necessarily worship/make a deal with azura, so he wouldn't be "betraying" her? There is a difference between working against her interests and betrayal, and of all the Daedra I think that difference is most important for her?
Azura’s myths reminds me of primordial chaos gods and chaoskampfs. Specifically I see a lot of Tiamat in her. Tiamat is the primordial sea/saltwater goddess from Babylonian myth who mated with Absu, the primordial freshwater god, had a bunch of kids and monsters. One of the kids killed her man so she gave birth to a bunch of monsters (12, I think) in revenge and ended up getting killed herself by a hero archetype in the chaoskampf, the struggle against chaos that basically explains the evolution of ancient people from hunter-gatherers with no understanding of the world to gaining some control over it and building civilization. Azura reminds me of Tiamat; an ancient mother figure that created a lot of life, but got betrayed and in an a rage or grief mindset, got all murdery and vengeful.
to make a wish to have the power of gods, may find your essence merged with them, obsorbed by them, so completely as if to no longer exist yourself as a seperate entity.
I don't understand why the Chimer resent being changed so drastically. I mean, before they just looked like boring old Altmer, if Vivec's shiny half is anything to go by. Now they have skin that comes in blues, greens, grays, and even nearly black, and eyes that range the whole gamut of reds (and silver-white if ESO is any indication) to also black. They look a little scary, but overall MUCH cooler and more unique than before. I'd hardly call it a curse compared to the thousands of horrible things a Daedric Prince COULD have done to their followers.
I thought “the black star” quest, if you did go with the black star...it was a big missed opportunity for Bethesda. As there is no consequence for betraying her, which basically goes against how she’d act when betrayed
Getting a weird idea of Azura embracing uncertainty because she is continually confronted with the fleeting nature of the love of mortals. Even if her followers love her their whole lives, she still experiences the ending of it, of all of it, in the God-place. She might take up the Dawn/dusk connection because she wants to take her mind of the inevitable end of mortal affection with everything that is still undecided.
I’ll be honest, I’ve always thought Fudgetmuppet was the same guy addressing himself as three different names to see if people would notice, solely because Scott, Drew, and Michael all sound very similar in terms of tone.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALLL WEEK!!!!! I look more forward to this more so then any other podcast! Can you guys sometime soon do a podcast about your craziest theories? something you think is super tin foil but you believe in it extreamly
I hoped that’s a joke. If that’s true then you get depressed really easy with the most insignificant things. All I can say is that you should seek help about that.
Love the podcast guys keep it up sad to see that the timestamp is shorter than the other episodes even though there's so much to talk about with azura 😔✊
Another great podcast, fellas! Thanks :) Had an idea for another podcast, let me know if you like it. "The Most Dangerous God". Not the most powerful god, mind, nor the most evil god. The most dangerous, measured by three criteria. 1) what dangers they pose to their followers. Sure Molag will eternally enslave you and Sheo will drive you mad, but Aedra may send you into danger in their name without ever backing you up. The Tribunal may bring a golden age, but have arbitrary and strict perceptions of heresy, punished cruelly, and in the long term doom Morrowind to the apocalyptic Red Year. Second, the danger they pose to their rival and enemies. Again, theres obvious ones like Boethiah and Mephala ganking Trinimac or Jyggalag imperilling his Daedric rivals, but Stendarrs followers hunt the worshippers of Daedra, The Marukhati Selective nearly broke the universe in Akatosh' name and Shor and his Shezarrines have cut a bloody swathe through the Elves of Nirn. The final measure is what threat their philosophy poses to Tamriels future. Mehrunes brings the promise of revolution, of chaos and destruction. Molag promises domination and enslavement of the mortal world. That said, Akatosh brings forth Alduin, and times ending. Sai unbalances Nirn by bringing lucks favour on a whim. The Tribunals vision is inherently one of Dunmer Supremacy, where the enslavement of lesser beings is simply nature in action. Could make a good topic, no?
“..Our love must also be directed inward. If we love her, and hate ourselves, she will feel our pain. Forever I will have no other mistress!” What a powerful quote tho. Always love you!

I just wanted to say that I love you guys so much I've been here watching the podcast watching since the ranking the daedric Princes videos I've watched all and am always so excited when they came out I almost always put on one of these videos to sleep you guys mean a lot to me and y'all started this at a perfect time when I was going through so much and listen to y'all talk makes me feel safe and helped me to sleep soundly again thank you
Azura is my favorite Daedric Prince.
Praise Azura, Mother of the Rose!
though heavily pixelated and somewhat censored i found myself strangely attracted to the visage of azura on the so called "thumb-Nail" formed from the scrying springs of oblivion.
Pre - Godhood Sotha Sil, scrying youtube from within the Dream.
I love just listening to your guys channel
First minute and I already love it as always, always loved these videos
Love the podcast series. I think a cool addition would be a discussion at the end of your hopes for future content in regards to your topic. Like how would you like to have Azura explored in further games etc. Especially as I’ve watched a most of your content and have heard a lot of it already. Love hearing you guys bounce off each other which is why this is so enjoyable. But love having some questions asked to think about after the end of the podcasts. Good work guys!
Azura is my favourite Daedric Prince so this is great.
*"The rim of all holes."*
Now that's one piece of TES Lore on the Mother Soul I'll never forget. Lmao 🤣
Thanks so much for the Podcast(s), they're so interesting and awesome. Definitely looking forward to the one on The Sharmat. Good luck, stay safe, and keep it up!
11:21 And then he looked at me and said "Vivec, I can't feel my legs!.." And I was like "Nerevar..they ain't there!!"
'I am the Sun-shadow at your back, the Moon-gloom to light your path, and fifty shades of monochrome inbetween'.
I was hoping you'd do one on Azura! Yay!
I need these podcasts to be thrice in length
thank the gods I never give Azura's Star to that mage
i could listen to these two for hours! 😄
I was hoping you'd mention Sul and his relationship with Azura from the infernal city novel
The first part reminds me of a Haitian Vodou spirit that comes from Western Africa called Erzulie. She's said to get really upset over those who serve her and then forget about her.
I’ve rimmed holes too Azura,
big f***in’ deal
I dont even know why I love TES lore so much lol, it's just fascinating that someone or even a group of people could write something so grandeous. Even if it is just adaptations of many common fantasy tropes and religious ideas. That's what's cool about it though. I love all the pantheon stuff and the fact every race was fleshed out enough to have their own beliefs and interpretations on similar concepts, philosophies and history.
By Azura! A new episode!🤘🤘🤘
There are 3 fundental groups that all Princes can be sorted into.
Driven by Honor
Driven by Self
Driven by Mortals
Honorbound Hircine can seem cruel, and Self-serving Molag Bal can be unjust, but it is the Princes who find fulfillment in man and mer that are the most terrifying.
For all the love Azura has leads her to hope, and the actions of betrayal turn her to spite.
Thanks guys, another great one
By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! It’s the Azura episode!
i usually only think of her as the divination divinity of the DunMer but after watching this i will also associate her with boarders/threshold.
BY AZURA BY AZURA BY AZURA BY AZURA! ITS THR GRAND CHAMPION STANDING HERE NEXT TO MEEE
Azura out here like 'don't worry sweet child, i will genuinely kick your ass if you don't learn to love yourself'
tbh maybe the fear of pissing her off is actually enough to cure depression
but also the fact that she genuinely just seem sto be so much more intimate with her people -- like they're *her people* rather than just her followers -- than other gods... it's nice, and I think having that sort of presence in your life could be a really positive thing, especially for some people
like, having grown up with an emotionally-abusive mother, I can very much see how that sort of experience might lead one to turn to Azura, and her relatively simpler 'love me, love yourself' desire/expectation feels like it'd be a whole lot easier and a whole lot healthier
especially since it'd have a pretty good chance of leading to you discovering a community, like with real-world church -- it's why 'atheist church' is a thing, after all
er, anyways azura pretty, i'll continue watching now lmfao
*Turns azura's star into the Black Star*
*Yeets it into the sea of ghosts*
My favourite daedric prince takes the spotlight
Now knowing how many dadric artifacts there are i would love modders to make there own with their own stories
By Azura! By Azura! By Azura!
The rim of Azura.. if it could b put into inventory, it would be categorized into “foods”
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALLL WEEK!!!!! I look more forward to this more so then any other podcast! Can you guys sometime soon do a podcast about your craziest theories?
something you think is super tin foil but you believe in it extreamly
Voiced by Lynda Carter, that's good enough for me.
Why was the podcast so short when I saw the time of the video I spiraled into a deep state of depression
Kappa 😏
I hoped that’s a joke. If that’s true then you get depressed really easy with the most insignificant things. All I can say is that you should seek help about that.
The Queen of Heaven, Lady Azura
Love the podcast guys keep it up sad to see that the timestamp is shorter than the other episodes even though there's so much to talk about with azura 😔✊
Now do one on Akatosh, at least after the Daedric Princes
Azura is my favorite.
I WANT A DAGOTH UR PODCAST NOW!
For me my favorite is a tie between Azura, Nocturnal, and Vermina
Another great podcast, fellas! Thanks :)
Had an idea for another podcast, let me know if you like it.
