Just a quick update. After further testing, I found out that any changes to a hab will stay even if you swap to a different ship or remove a different hab from the ship. Along as you don't delete or move the hab you've customised, then the changes will save.
Kinda cool, you can make yourself like a type of luxury ship now. One thing I'd like to see is more bridge/cockpit options. But overall it's a nice update, this is the kinda stuff I've been waiting for.
I love it. No more desk clutter for me to bump into on my ships. I can also go for more practical compact ship interior now. More ladderless ship builds now. 😅😅
I'm stoked for the empty habs, when I make my ships I prioritize a functional interior alongside a cool exterior. I don't normally go with my design if the inside isn't cohesive. So for me I'm all for it! Next I want choice in my doors and ladders keep it coming BGS , y'all are awesome
The best thing about them giving us empty Habs . Is that some of the larger hab units are only available as storage and kitchen . I have been using a mod called Dera Tech . And I'll probably keep using it because it replaces ladders with stairs . I would love to have all the parts I need to build a oversized B-2 bomber for space . 🤔
We've already come a long way from switching ships & the dozens of guns i have on display in the armory magically appearing in the cargo hold of the new ship. Now i can place a paperweight on a desk. & it just stays there. Forever. (Unless i move the hab in ship builder mode!) Great work Bethesda. This brings the ship interiors to life.
The most important function I was hoping for was being able to choose where the doors and ladders appear. Editing the interior without that key feature is worthless to me.
I agree 100% it is so stupid that we can't choose how a module that shares 2 doors connect to the other 2 doors on the other module 😞 The pre-built modules would lose either a station or some decoration, and you can't pick which 😞 its just stupid.
This is a big disappointment to me. But I'm still very interested in these improvements. Mainly because I have a large 2 story ship layout that has NO ladders (thanks to the Nova Cabot cockpit) and door only where I want them. I think they didn't do that in this update because they feel players will just put together the hab interiors they want now. At least more often. A very roundabout way of addressing a clear oversight...
Put an equipment plate or top porthole on the hub where you don’t want a ladder and it forces the builder to put the ladder on the empty spot. It’s real simple. It’s not hard.
@FP194 Yeah, I know that trick. One time the blasted algorithm cut off access to the second half of the ship! I spent over an hour battling with it trying to add potholes and changing hub configurations. Believe me brother, just letting us choose where those access points go would be way easier on us!
Are all habs of a given size set up with the same portal/ladder configuration? Or is that a variant by hab type within (i.e. 2x1 all-in-one vs 2x1 computer core)? Since they can all be made empty I'm wondering if that's a way of customizing them, assuming different habs have different rules.
I kinda like the empty habs…like most of us, I’ve mostly focused on ship exteriors but I could see myself trying some interior design…maybe…I’ve actually not used the outpost builder system much (except to build landing pad with shipbuilder…lol) but I’ll give it a try eventually. I did enjoy it in Fallout 4/76 but those are much more robust. Looking forward to the full comparisons video…👍
I use those control terminals in my outposts. It's all in all a great update, nice to have ships landing again. And I raised the vendor credits, that's a blessing. I haven't played around with the empty habs. You're right they didn't give us the actual ship parts they have on the ships. But it's a major step forward though.
Small Ships I guess it'll be useful for making small ships, since I can place all the crafting benches I need into one hab. Instead of a separate Workshop/Lab/Berth. Sadly the ability to place doors and ladders isn't there. but hey. I'll just make my ship interior as one single empty battle station with all the workstations and beds added into it. No doors at all now....
I haven’t played the game in about 6-7 months. Only just returning to the game with the recent new updates. Since I was heavily involved in Outpost Construction many months ago before I stopped playing, I can tell you those decorative consoles aren’t new. All those consoles were available as part of Outpost Construction from many months ago. It will be very cool to see just how players decorate and interior design a completely empty ship.
Thank you, didn't wanna be a parrot, but I wanted to say the same thing! It was annoying that those were mentioned as being "new." I have them in all of my outposts and homes. Lol
Definitely making the mess hall an armoury. It’ll have a storage area, an issue area, a cleaning/maintenance area & and open area for the troops to gather. Definitely fits my Private Military RP.
Since the "name" of a hab determines its crew/pax capacity, you can presumably use the names that give you the capacity you need, then fill them with furniture that you actually need. For example, install a "computer core" but fill it with workstation modules and storage chests for raw material. Those chests would seem to allow you to bypass the "official" cargo capacity AND would retain their content when you move between ships (thus preventing the issue of overflowing storage on the smaller ships). Am I understanding this correctly?
@@CrimsonFlyboy Sounds good. Now my only problem is that I can't play the game since all save games created after about dinner time last night seem to have a "poison pill" embedded in them which cause the game to instantly crash when I try to load them (including the implied load from "continue"). Makes it a bit pointless to load a save game from before the weird change (which I CAN do) because sooner or later I'll want to exit the game - and lose all the progress made 🙂Ah Bethesda .....
definitely a step in the right direction though personally I was wishing for something more along the lines of new 1x1 habs or luxury habs from triton cruises, would love to have a legitimate greenhouse module
Do they strip off the innate attributes for the habs (ie crew stations, passenger slots, etc) when you use a blank hab? Because that would be unfortunate. If I want to make a 2x1 bunk bed hab and then find out it can't carry passengers... Well, my exact issue is that I use the Mess Hall habs a lot and so the kitchenettes in the All in One Berths are often superfluous. What I want is the ability to select the entire kitchen area of the berth and change it into a clone of the side with the beds.
as this is awesome to be able to decorate .. you gonna have to let us know if this will work in starborn guardins for that has a great floor plan to add much to that ship
I'll be honest seeing the habs empty makes me like the standard habs so much more. I'm not sure we have enough variety of stuff to make these look really good. I would rather have the ability to delete items from a vanilla hab. That way you can start with a normal hab, delete what you don't want and then build from there. Question: if you spend time customizing a hab, and then want to move it (but not delete it) you lose everything?
They should’ve just let you edit already existing habs. You can barely distinguish the empty habs from one another and it’s just overload and one more reason to grind resources. Maybe I like a certain hab and just want to change the couch to add personal design flare. This is just overload. Also seems like editing the existing interior would’ve been simpler from a design perspective.
I hate to break it to you but a lot of that stuff is not new; those consoles, wall cabinets, And yes the workout bench and punching bag are definitely not new... The only thing I'm not 100% sure on is that long desk, that might be new I'll have to load up my game to be sure 🤷♂️
Coffee time all day I see. Specifically I’d have traded this for 200 exterior parts, however, my assumption based on 76 and other fallout games was ship interiors would eventually get this ability, all in all meh.
Just a quick update.

Woo-hoo!
Hey I was wondering if you can add a bed to the starborn ship
So what happens if 1 ship has 2 empty mess halls that you customise, switching to the 2nd ship, how does it know which one to keep?
I have even moved the hab and it's been fine.
Kinda cool, you can make yourself like a type of luxury ship now. One thing I'd like to see is more bridge/cockpit options. But overall it's a nice update, this is the kinda stuff I've been waiting for.
I just realized the most significant thing about customizing ship interiors is that we can now turn the Starborn Guardian into a functional ship.
I love it. No more desk clutter for me to bump into on my ships. I can also go for more practical compact ship interior now. More ladderless ship builds now. 😅😅

It looks like it tells you the name of the hab you're in, when you bring up the build menu, in the top left btw.
Small Ships

Nice video with a chance for a rant! It’s about time to customize the interiors of habs. Liked it when you slid the furniture through Sam.
This would be perfect for a lone wolf bounty hunter build. A bed, workshops, and armory all in one hab.

Hate to say, the computer terminals are not new.
Well, that's a letdown. Hopefully, in a future update, they give us the stuff needed to remake all the habs
Thank you, didn't wanna be a parrot, but I wanted to say the same thing! It was annoying that those were mentioned as being "new." I have them in all of my outposts and homes. Lol
The empty Control Station hab is going to be useful for smaller ships because you can get the 4 crew slots, and fill it with workbenches and beds.
Ground vehicle bro🎉
Definitely making the mess hall an armoury.

I’m curious how you have the navigation console, computer stations, etc as furniture. It seems I’m missing those items?
We were looking at this as we went through New Games and built a new ship. If you want an empty 1x1 then add widows and it will clear it.
When you put in storage crates, fill them, then delete the hab, which are 1) contents of crates, 2) resources used to build the crate, go.
Most pragmatic furniture for any cargo-less gunboat or battleship is containers.
Since the "name" of a hab determines its crew/pax capacity, you can presumably use the names that give you the capacity you need, then fill them with furniture that you actually need. Yeah, that's correct. The empty habs keep their perks so you can place them, then customise it to your needs
@@CrimsonFlyboy Sounds good. Those consoles in furniture have always been there. I've used them in outposts and apartments since release.
So, is Outpost Design (or whatever the skill is called) going to become part of the build meta? 😉
I hope not, I'm crap at building interiors. There's a reason I only ever show one room in my house
definitely a step in the right direction though personally I was wishing for something more along the lines of new 1x1 habs or luxury habs from triton cruises, would love to have a legitimate greenhouse module
Green house habs would be very cool. Hopefully they keep giving us more havs as we go

The base perks stay, so the empty control still gives 4 crew. The empty all in one still gives 2 passengers
Its a start. I'm sure more will be added. Shame you can't eliminate ladders
as this is awesome to be able to decorate .. you gonna have to let us know if this will work in starborn guardins for that has a great floor plan to add much to that ship
It does work on starborn ship
Just went to NG and guess what you can add stuff to the starborn ships. Hopefully putting some control panel that the crew would stay away from you.
Consoles aren’t new you could put them in your outpost too
Just a Quick NOTE: You find the decorate button not in inventory, its when you press "F" key, you will find it.
5 mins in: those consoles have been in outposts from the start 😊

Well, that's a rip, I thought the consoles were new, my bad
There are some new chairs from starborn ship, and letters/numbers in decorations. I didn't notice anything else new
@@CrimsonFlyboy i have the full set of console desks in my nesoi dream home :)
What happens to my setup when I decide to change has around? Or when I change ships?
It will stay intact when you swap ships, and you can modify other habs safely, just don't touch the habs you've decorated
Demios and Stroud captain's Quarters bed is real pathetic, can we switch the bed to hopetech beds ?
Does this work with the star born ship?
Now that’s a good question, then not having beds is a real head scratcher
I’ve seen another beta person say yes about starborn ships
i’m same crimson i jump from ship to ship so i will be leaving this maybe! i want more parts for ships visually really. rather than custom built Habs
Weight bench isn’t new and yes there are new pictures
The consoles not new!
Coffee time all day I see. Specifically I’d have traded this for 200 exterior parts, however, my assumption based on 76 and other fallout games was ship interiors would eventually get this ability, all in all meh.
How about they update the god aweful writing?
Lol nobody cares
About your opinion? You're right!
