I was just working with l'alterboy today, a single take background singer doing ooohs and aaahs. I added 3 alterboys, an octave up, 5 steps up, and 3 steps down from what was being sung (she was singing the 5th interval of the chord) and adjusted the formant. Clearly there are going to be some changes needed to adapt the minor/major intervals with this approach, but the genius of L'Alterboy is you can control the pitch via midi. So I fixed all that, printed it, and then put alterboy on that print and raised it an octave yet again, printed that. Panned the two prints wide, volume, EQ, Reverb. It gave me a nice pad for the verses, and a lovely wall of sound in the chorus as she repeats the main words there.

Check out vocal bender by waves and the sauce by dj swivel. Both have a cleaner pitch and format shift imo (makes sense as alter boy is fairly old now. Still great though) vocal bender can also be used during recording without latency. The sauce can't but I think it has the cleanest sound and also has decent effects built in.

This may be the first vid I've heard that I didn't hate the example vocal or instrumental track being used. Good on you. Plus good tips.

Also, without even touching the pitch and format, just the drive section alone is awesome. Big low end boost, dip in the middle, nice harmonic additions.

hey are good plugins, but i wonder if they have stop development for updating these?

I believe they are all compatible with Apple silicon now, so they are definitely still updating them, even though they're getting long in the tooth. It would be nice to see some new products from them though.
