This is not new and known about since the early 70's. My brother was part of the British Antarctic Survey until 1977. Part of his assignments was to monitor the ozone layer. He sent for new equipment as he could get no reading. The new equipment gave the same reading. There was no ozone layer at the south pole in the 70's.
