"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played live onstage with him before want to quit."..................Eric Clapton.
There were four members of the band at that time, but only three folks doing this song. The keyboards were not played for this, but Reese Wynans was their keys player by then.
I actually worked a few shows with Stevie Ray Vaughan as a stagehand check out the live videos from the Capital Theater in Passaic N.J that's my favorite one.
'Couldn't Stand the Weather'' from his live performance at the Capital Theatre, 1985 is awesome as well....actually that whole performance as well as the one at the El Mocambo is totally mind blowing.
Great reaction! Stevie was really a Bluesman at heart. He did a few Hendrix songs as an homage to him. Please continue to check him out. You won’t be disappointed. He started out with just the 3 in Double Trouble, Chris “Whipper” Layton on drums and Tommy Shannon on bass. They added Reese Wynans on keys later on. Reese is a beast as well. “Texas Flood” from El Mocambo is crazy good. It was just the three and at the start of his break out. After that, maybe check out “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from the Austin 1989 show (same as Voodoo Child). You really see Reese on that one. Stevie was self taught, never learned to read music, and was as humble as he was talented. He also got clean and sober in 1986 and remained so until his tragic death in 1990 (helicopter crash). He was my pal. Check out my profile pic! Subscribed!!

No one else has feelling with such technicality and speed! I miss him,
The fuzz/octave sound when he's playing up on the 12th fret gets my blood pumpin!

Agreed!!! This entire performance is mind blowing. But that one number is electrifying.
No body could bend the strings like Stevie
Stevie Ray doesn’t noodle. He’s always going somewhere, and getting there.
My favorite cover of his is Little Wing from El Mocambo. Supernatural experience.
