Great points, Pastor Randy. Here is the answer we must give people:
“avoid meat eating, not because it is regarded as sin to eat meat, but because it is not healthful.”
    -6LtMs, Ms 15, 1889, par. 3

"For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not by yourselves: it is a GIFT of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9

    • @elainefaria9550
      @elainefaria9550 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

This text of Ephesians 2 is not complete without verse 10: "For WE ARE HIS WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS UNTO 'GOOD WORKS', WHICH GOD HATH BEFORE ORDAINED THAT 'WE SHOULD WALK IN THEM'. " Ephesians 2:10 (8-10)
The Holy Spirit convinces us that we ought not to cook on Sabbath, if we are willing to obey God. This is the work of God in us, not of ourselves! So, it is a work God reveals on those who experience the salvation in Jesus Christ and are willing to OBEY Him. Acts 5:32 says: " And we are witnesses of these things; And so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that OBEY Him."
Therefore, not cooking on Sabbath is a RESULT of being saved, and not a work that I must do to obtain salvation. It is God's work in us; Not our own. It will happen out of conviction by the Holy Spirit in us. This has been my own experience. This is my testimony.

Dear Randy Skeet can you please explain. God never said in the Bible not to eat meat, fish,or poultry. God told us what animals we can eat and what not to eat just like he told Adam and Eve what trees they could eat off with the exemption of one. If eating meat is an issue based on how it was raised etc then there's always organic natural raised. Further more the skin is the largest organ and absorbs alot, why then are natural products not pushed the same way if not more? What are Eskimos to eat? Why aren't people being told etc to stop chemically altering their natural hair, skin, to stop using all un natural products? Also some people have to cook for the less fortunate(the elderly, injured and sick in nursing homes. One cannot refuse always or cook food in advance in a work setting) I hope this question gets answered and congregation hears this as well. Thank you

This body of ours cannot last here so be ready for a new glorious one.
I think the problem is a lot of us grew up eating meat and to change that is the problem.
I used to eat meat until when i did a 21 days fasting and God took it away .Even fish struggling with that now. I believe it is all in the mind we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.Amen

I have great respect to Pastor or Brother Randy Skeete. But, as a Seventh Day Adventist teacher, I would respectfully disagree about the way, how to answer these questions. If, someone would ask: Does Keeping the Sabbath or Does Eating vegetarian foods give me salvation? My answer would be a clear and short NO! Salvation is never found in keeping of rules and laws. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that we are saved by Grace, through faith, and not of ourselves, for it is the gift of God, lest anyone boast. Salvation in Christ is a free gift of God. No one who enters heaven, will arrive there and say: Because I kept the commandments I have the right to be in heaven, or... because I was a vegetarian I was saved. All who are saved will be saved by the merits of Jesus. Nothing more nothing less. If our salvation depended on meating eating, works of the laws, rules it would make void the grace and gift of Jesus. Always keep in mind as a child of God, our salvation must always be grounded in the reality that we accepted Jesus sacrifice. We are not called to focus for our salvation by looking at rules, laws, etc. We are called to look, get to know, and be in Jesus. When we are in Jesus, the evidence and experience will be, that the works naturally flow to harmonize and mirror the relationship we have. If, we revert this process, we can end doing all the laws and fail, and still go lost because we did not only do them on our own strength but we did them without having Jesus in our hearts. There is a danger in doing the works but without having a relationship with Jesus. The bible says 4 things about works. 1. We are saved by grace not of works. 2. Works without faith is dead faith. 3. Faith without works is dead. Here the apostle is not contracting Saved by Grace theology, he is implying that when we are in Christ naturally works reflect and our actions harmonize with our faith in God. 4. We receive recompensation for the works we have done. Never salvation. Our theology on works should never be a works salvation theology because you get 3 dangers. 1. You unsettle the pillar of foundation of Gods grace with works. With this I mean, you start to doubt your salvation whenever you disobey a law, rule etc. 2. You could focus on works more and leave out your relationship with Jesus and still get lost. 3. You could follow God by fear and not based on love. If you do God's will with fear, you'll end up lost because perfect love cast out fear. If you are works oriented, you will fail to understand the theme of Righteousness by Faith. Now let me elaborate a bit what I believe Randy Skeete is trying to explain. When we walk with God for some long time and we know His will, and if we do otherwise. That which we do not do by faith will be sin to us. Grace is there to also give us space to grow in Christ, but abusing grace and postponing growth and ignoring truth is a 3-fold combination that will result us from entering heaven. Why? Because we received light and we disobeyed it knowingly. God's ultimate goal with our transformation is that we reach and attain perfection. But if we willfully obstruct, delay, and play around with this process, we endanger our salvation. Ultimately God is the one who will be the eternal judge over every soul. Now saying all this, I personally would never explain to someone that eating meat will result me from being saved. Because salvation is only found by the grace of God for it is a gift. Knowing Jesus is eternal life. Knowing Jesus must be our top priority. The bible says in Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. God is the one that will cause us to do His will. We will fail if we try to do His will on our own strength. The secret in Christian salvation is knowing Jesus.

We know well the context of salvation. How about the context of sin? All lights given to us were to make us “wise unto salvation”. That is to show how wise every adventist is, a precious treasure of God. We are to be fully consecrated. We are to be sanctified both body and spirit. But here we go, despising the mercy of God by trampling underfoot the light of His health message and the spiritual revival and reformation.
      All i know is...
“Sin debars us from entering heaven” Period.

Do you understand the doctrine of righteousness by works ? Absolutely no
The faith is every word that comes from the mouth of God (john 14 vs 15, Luke 6 v46)
Now thats the option of accepting the grace of God and thus being made holly by Jesus's actions on calvary then be holy by coping his example

Why did Jesus feed the crowd with fish and bread if he knew that it was bad for the people ? ( Mark 6:30-44) Why did the Levite priests eat the flesh of the animals if it was so deadly in the eyes of God( Leviticus6 :26)Why did Jesus himself eat fish with His disciples after the resurrection ( John 21:1-15) What is our current message ? Is it against food contamination ? The vegetables are also terrible if we do not grow them ourselves. God would be equally upset if we know that the vegetables were grossly fed with harmful pesticides yet we consume them in the name of vegetarianism.

[4]How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
[5]Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
[6]But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
[7]But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

While salvation is only in Christ, we still need to obey Him if we are to be saved. He gave us a diet that is plant-based. The human body, which is God's temple; the place where the Holy Spirit dwells, needs to be fortified both spiritually and physically and it requires the best. We need to take care of this temple that Almighty God has entrusted to us. Let us be like the three Hebrew boys and do our best to obey Him.

How can our salvation be based on what we eat? I thought our salvation is based on our faith in Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”
    - Romans 14:17 (KJV)
I am also SDA but i don't believe that "those who eat meat will not be saved" teaching. I believe the health message is given to us to live better quality of life, so its our choice whether to eat healthy and live a better life. But i dont believe that it should be related to being saved in any way. If EG White has written this way, can you share the sop texts.

It is a day of rest (how many of us need that), fellowship and worship. Of all of the days of the week it is special. Having your house in a state of serenity is healing. @@eagleeyes6642 this text is in reference to the ceremonial laws given to the Jews. if you read the previous verses of colossians 2 you would see that Paul is speaking to a Gentile congregation. there was a dispute between the church members since the Jewish converts wanted to enforce circumcision and other ordinances on the Gentile converts. Paul clears this misunderstanding saying that all these things that were given to the Jews were a "shadow" of things to come; a religion that was no longer based on physical ceremonies and rites but one that was based on true heart religion. i think it would've been Paul who said that we must "circumcise our hearts"

Here is where I partly disagree with Pastor Skeete! Although it is better and more healthy that individuals become vegetarians we cannot make that a test. EGW promoted a plant based diet, yet she said in 3SM 287.1 "The question whether we shall eat butter, meat, or cheese, is not to be presented to anyone as a test, but we are to educate and to show the evils of the things that are objectionable. Those who gather up these things and drive them upon others do not know what work they are doing. The Word of God has given tests to His people. The keeping of God's holy law, the Sabbath, is a test, a sign between God and His people throughout their generations forever. Forever this is the burden of the third angel's message-the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ."
We must be careful as to.how we present the health message because we can turn many off! We are to present it as a better alternative to a meat diet and not a test or salvation thing.

Jesus said we should prepare the food on Friday. It's in the 10 commandments. Plucking a few things on Sabbath as they were going, because they were VERY HUNGRY it's not the same with cooking on that holy day! The Lord has SANCTIFIED that day. Can we not give Him that little love and honor, to cook, clean, wash, iron and SHOWER on Friday? Exodus 19:10 "And the Lord said unto Moses, Go tot the people and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them WASH THEIR CLOTHES. Verse 14: "And Moses went down from the mount unto the ppl and sanctified the ppl; and they washed their clothes". It is possible todo that, if you love the Lord. The question is: do we love the Lord? Verse 15: "And he said (Moses) unto the ppl: be ready against he 3rd day: come not at your wives". That means the Sabbath is not a day for sex either., but a day for the Lord. Sex is either for procreation, but the Lord didn't create anything on the 7th day, so we shouldn't either, or for our own pleasure, but He said in Isaiah 58:13 " If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, a holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honor Him, not doing thne own ways, nor finding thy own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14: then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon high places .... etc

Kjv matthew 12:1-5 " at that time jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and he began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. But when the pharisees saw it, they said unto him, behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; how he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?" Its fine to do good on the sabbath. The bible verses are words our Lord Jesus Christ said to the pharisees about what a person can do on the sabbath. Boiling water for hot herbal tea to drink in harsh winters is fine to do because your trying to do something good, keep warm and stay healthy.

Jesus was rebuking the Pharisee because he healed on the Sabbath. Read Matthew 12:1-14. He asked them many times what is more important a donkey or a human.
Jesus came to fulfill the law. Yes you are right, salvation is only through him and his grace and mercy covers our sins, but that doesn’t mean we get to make up our own rules like the Pharisees and decide what is righteous. God said the commandments are just. They show us how to live.
Romans 6:1 “What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase?” Paul says NO! We are saved by love for God and obedience to the law.

You can cook any time. The sabbath is only recognized by today's religious systems and not the bible. In 1 Tim 1:16kjv Jesus made Paul our pattern for the body of Christ and in Col 2:10-17kjv he explains not to let anyone judge us about this. Verse 17kjv says the sabbath will come back and we know that in the millineum this will happen again with everyone under the law. Sabbath is part of the law and if anyone likes following the law stay with bible versions apart from the kjv because their inline with modern religion. There are 147 kjv verses with the Sabbath. Our apostle Paul mentions it 1 verse in 1 Tim 1:16kjv and he says it's not for today. What and who teaches this, the kjv bible and mid acts dispensationalist. Paul became our apostle and the Lord gave him a mystery dispensation per Eph 3:1-10kjv and Rom 16:25-26kjv. The body of Christ gospel is 1Cor 15:1-4kjv Christ died for our sins was buried and raised again apart from any works. How do we know we are saved and put our faith in this. It's a pretty good indicator your just following religion if your putting Jesus back on the cross every day asking for forgiveness when he already was crucified.

Sometimes people don’t express a truth correctly.
I’m sorry you feel being away from believers is conducive to your spiritual well-being. God told the Pharisees that he came for the sick not the well. If you are looking for perfect people you won’t find them. All of us are pressing towards higher ground through sanctification.
      Hebrews 10:25
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

Now if we read our bible with understanding we'll find that there are more laws a dietary law, a civil law and a ceremonial law...all the laws are still binding except for the ceremonial law which was nailed to the cross....now if I am to love my neighbour as myself and love the Lord with my might.. that's a mighty task ( Adam failed) so we will be justified by the laws.

We need FAITH as the means to receive the Holy Spirit who empowers us, now we are justified not only BY FAITH,in Jesus Christ, but also THROUGH FAITH . The whole creation changed and even the lion could no longer eat straw. God didn't have to allow us to eat meat to shorten our lives. He put a length on man days and whether we eat meat or not we cannot live pass those years. Our bodies are made up of protein and we need to maintain that. The problem is that people eat too much meat and the wrong types of meat God tells us not to eat. In Leviticus 11 God tells us what to and what not to eat.

@Marcia Samuels......My understanding is that a in seed there is life, in dead flesh there is no life. Therefore eating plant based food you would gain more benefits.

Is it prohibited to cook on the sabbath day?
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it [manna] till the morning.
Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them *left of it until the morning* [they baked it not] and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
And *they gathered it* every morning, every man according to his eating: and when the sun waxed hot, it melted.
And it came to pass, that *on the sixth day* [preperation day] they *gathered twice as much* bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is *the rest of the holy sabbath* unto the LORD *bake that which ye will bake to day* and seethe that ye will seethe; and *that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning*
And they *laid it up* [did not bake] till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.
    {Exodus 16:19-24}

Niether did Jesus's body see corruption on the sabbath day as he laid dead in the grave.
No its not, we can cook on the sabbath day, but gathering [preperation] and picking up sticks for making a fire to cook and keep warm on the sabbath is prohibited.

In conclusion all the followers of God will come in to one conviction that meat should be done away. Because there's no Different conviction that o can eat but others can and according to mrs. White those who are waiting to the Lord's meat eating will be done away.

The laughing after a question may not be mocking but it comes across as such. One should not laugh after questions particularly when inviting them to do so. This is not the correct approach.

Jesus ate meat and went to heaven. You don’t plant animals, you raise them and they multiply similar to trees growing. This is just opinions. Manna was already prepared. They didn’t have to cook it. So that was not a good example

Jesus and His disciples were hungry and unlike us who are often in the comfort of our homes, they were travelling and teaching and healing the people. while He did pluck the corn, He did not cook it. we who have adequate time to prepare for the sabbath shouldn't have any excuses in regard to this matter

A lot of churches are in trouble then. cooking is often done in the church kitchen especially for special occasions. It's best to maintain a vegetarian diet but if you must eat meat only biblically clean meats.

We only talk out of convenience. Vegetables are grown large scale with dangerous pesticides and are worst than the contaminated fishes in the sea. We can only be safe if we grow what we eat. God alone can feed us with His bread and fish safely . No man can prevent one from going to heaven based on his beliefs . God is in charge of our salvation. He alone knows what you go through.
