@@davidwpinkston4226 This work has nothing to do with Ukraine and the Kiev "Golden Gate" of the 11th century, which were destroyed during the invasion of Batu. The inspiration for writing this suite was a sketch/project by architect Hartman of the city gate in honor of the Russian Emperor Alexander II.
I sometimes wondered if Lenny liked the ELP version of PAAE. He must have heard it, and no doubt would have at least respected the musicianship of Emerson. In addition to their spectacular rendering of Mussorgsky, ELP also took on Copeland, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Bach....
From Memphis, Tennessee. weighting in at 230 pounds. Here is Jerry "The King" Lawler!
Bravo Bernstein and the NY Philharmonic with its "unafraid to play" trumpet section led by William Vacchiano!
This sounds just like the section from my vinyl record of Pictures at an Exhibition and A Night on Bald Mountain.
Bernstein is very easy to follow. Cool.
