they don’t use this in court to claim innocence or justify the crime, it’s done to ensure that the sentence reflects the crime committed adequately. for example, someone with mental health or traumatic issues can be sentenced to prison and also to court ordered therapeutic processes. in this case it was to try avoid the death penalty. it’s also to lower the amount of years the judge finds necessary though so that’s kinda slimy when you think about it.

kinda hard. ive had friends who get drunk and start trying to physically fight me if i’m trying to get them to stay around me so i can get them home. some girls get drunk and just won’t have it. it’s hard to force someone in your car if they don’t want to. not saying do it, because a lot of girls aren’t like that, but i’ve been in that situation way more than once. sometimes situations happen where it just can’t happen.

I personally like that you included his background (and for other criminals) because it helps us understand how they got to that point, nature vs. nurture, warning signs, etc. I don’t think that it gives us sympathy for the killer but an understanding
I agree. With all the true crime I watch I have concluded that it IS in fact nature, but nurture can bring it out or make it worse. Some people are just truly sick and it doesn’t matter what their family life was life because they have a weak mindset, and have no will to control their urges.
@Bailey Wright If it was nature, he would have never shown any improvement at the time before he returned to live with his father. I think his upbringing made him what he is. He is diagnosed with ASPD, and that is caused by nurture. ASPD is developed as a coping mechanism to survive unstable environments; the only nature aspect is if one of your parents has ASPD. All the true crime cases I have seen with people who become serial killers share a pattern of abuse, and when their parents have the chance to speak out, they all seem to suffer from 'missing reasons'. (Jeffrey Dahmer's parents are a prime example of missing reasons) Sustaining abuse at key development stages in your life does affect who you become, and the justice system only emboldened him. He was essentially told that he could do these things and get away with it. Blaming it on nature takes a lot of onus off of people who craft their children into abusers and murders.
@@baileywright3113 it is not something that’s black and white, it’s an extremely grey area. Someone becoming a monster like this is a mixture of nature and nurture. Not everyone who is abused will become a killer, not everyone with a perfect childhood will be a normal person. Similarly, not everyone that is naturally a bit violent will go on to commit violent crimes. A person’s violent nature is affected by how they are raised and nurtured. This will never be a case of just nature causing someone’s future actions.
"the court thought, that stealing a car was more important than him stealing innocence from that little girl" you have a beautiful way with words cause seriously!

They even took a picture of her standing by the road. She disappeared, and was found deceased later in the area. It's a very sketchy case

But the main point is never let your friends walk home alone, especially while tipsy. Girls, stick together regardless of how upset you are with each other.
When a predator is caught and is giving a very very small sentence you can be sure he is going to assault again AND most likely would confess if get caught again because he thinks he will always get away with that

I can’t even express how angry it makes me that they let these pos’ go out to the public to re-offend. Then when they do get some time they only serve a portion of it. Honestly this bs happens alot. They go to jail for SA and get a light sentence that will even let them out earlier on good behavior. 1. Makes them feel invincible and 2. When they offend again, they're convinced if they kill the victim afterwards they wont get caught again. I really think these type of crimes should be taken more seriously and dont understand why they're not. The fact that you get more time for GT is absolutely disgusting! The judicial system (atleast in this instance) is completely broken.
when you break your ribs, you can barely move from the pain. i knew some one who'd ended up with broken ribs, and you could see the pain he was in. but there's nothing doctors can really do to fix them, because in order to heal properly, ribs have to be free to move naturally inside the body. if you put a cast around some one's mid-section, the ribs will heal, but they'll be fused, making normal movement difficult after they heal. probably about all a doctor can do for broken ribs is to give people pain-killers; that's about it. so how he would have managed to attack a woman with broken ribs, i don't understand; unless he was so drunk he just didn't feel it at the time.

I just want to clarify that when it comes to sentencing for criminals, they’re only going to do about half of the amount of time given. For example if they say 10yrs they’ll only do about 5. Just so nobody thinks that these people are getting let off early etc. You’re welcome lol and keep up the great work, love your content especially the conspiracy videos!💎

I found your channel by chance, and now I must admit to being a big fan. I found it to be so wrong that he got more time for stealing a car than for the assault on the 12 yr. old. I grew up in a house with loads of pain as my father loved to beat on me. It was good that my mother left him when I was 8. She took my four sisters and I to give us a better life and I admire her for that. Around the age of 12 I was molested by a cousin of hers. What hurt most was her not believing me and taking his words over mine. I became an angry kid but I still didn't become a monster like that. Events in life can make you lash out, and become bitter at the unfairness of it all. I then started hanging around the wrong crowds until one of her boyfriends kicked me out at the age of 16. I can related to the pain of having a hard life but in the end you are the only one responsible for the choices you make in life, the blame can't be placed on the actions or treatment you went through because in the end it is only you who is to blame. As for the courts I sometimes don't understand them or their priorities. A human life should always be placed before an immobile object like a car. I admire you for looking into the heart of darkness and still being able to smile. No matter what you remain chill and I really love your insight, you are a light in the darkness and I wish you nothing but the best, thank you for making the world a better place. You keep the memory of all those victims alive and prevent their light from being extinguished by monsters. Thank you for all that you do.
That is horrifying that this man literally broke his ribs because he's so determined to go assault a woman. And yet men wonder why we're terrified of them and can't trust any of them even when they're innocent.
there's no excuse for grown adults making bad choices that they know are wrong (murder, assault, etc). but at the same time when people are failed on every level, like from their parents, school figures, the government, the medical field, etc, it's at least telling how they got there and it does make me sad for at least the child versions of these people.

Kinda wish he was just given life without parole and put in gen pop. Have the guards casually mention what he did as they bring him in. Make him live the rest of his life always looking over his shoulder fearing a beating or death. The same treatment he gave to those girls. Sometimes death is an easy way out, too good for these monsters.
There are certain things that just don't add up in this story..... like when Sarah is at the bridge and sees a figure, how do they know that she couldn't really make out what it was. She died that night before telling her story, so they couldn't know what went through her head in that moment. Also, how do they know that Aundrea didn't think much of her cat miaowing........ we don't know what she was thinking that night. She never escaped.
I know I should never laugh during any of these stories but when you said "I'm gonna take these 30 seconds that I'm gonna be spending in jail" I unexpectedly just busted out a laugh 🤦♀️🤦♀️ gotta love tha system

But i live in Norway so thats not so suprising. Life here is 21 years!!! Oh and the reason for killing her was that he wanted to be with her but she just wanted to be friend. The steroids made him do it, not that he can’t handle rejection. She was 15 and he was 20
This Rex guy is such a sick individual and I found it so pathetic and ridiculous that the court would give him a light sentence for sexual assault and a three year sentence for stealing a car so shame on them.
Right!!!! You freaking read my mind♥️
I guess Rex was the original Brock Turner the rapist who rapes women. What is it with California giving these 30 day sentences to sex offenders?
The court systems literally don't view women higher than vehicles, woaw.
For those wondering what happened to Kristin “Roxy” Smart (the earlier missing Cal Poly girl mentioned, from 1996), her remains were never found, but she was declared legally dead in 2002. Despite that, the trial for her murder is going on right now. The man charged was a fellow Cal Poly student that walked her home after a party. His father was charged as an accessory after the fact (by helping hide the body) & they’re standing trial together as co-defendants

it’s weird to think that they arrested this man for being a predator only to give him 36 days as his sentence, it goes to show what could’ve been prevented if they had given him a longer sentence to begin with
Or not. He was 17. Even if they gave him maximum of 20 - he still would be out under 40 years old.
@@alexforce9 yeah but thats 20 yrs to maybe reconsider you life choices. In those 36 days, he was obviously thinking of worst things hes gonna do once out. Which he then did. I say give his ass 20 yrs.

@@alexforce9 @Alex Force Men are not dogs. Dogs don't know any better and so are innocent from having a motive. I personally like that you included his background (and for other criminals) because it helps us understand how they got to that point, nature vs. nurture, warning signs, etc. I don’t think that it gives us sympathy for the killer but an understanding
Agreed! There may be some sympathy for what they went through, but we know that they decided to be the same monster as their abusers, if not worse.
I agree. With all the true crime I watch I have concluded that it IS in fact nature, but nurture can bring it out or make it worse. Some people are just truly sick and it doesn’t matter what their family life was life because they have a weak mindset, and have no will to control their urges.
@Bailey Wright
If it was nature, he would have never shown any improvement at the time before he returned to live with his father.
If I were that friend, I’d feel SO bad and never forgive myself.
Yeah what a terrible fake friend move dipping out on your friend who has been drinking.
“Friend”. Sounds like somebody who had no care for her. If she was a friend, she would have at least helped her out a bit. Kept her by her side while she was drunk at least.
Blaming someone else for another’s actions is crazy
It reminds me a little about a recent case in Mexico, Debanhi Escobar. You should look it up, her friends left her in the middle of nowhere after an argument in a party. They even took a picture of her standing by the road. She disappeared, and was found deceased later in the area.
It's a very sketchy case

I can’t even express how angry it makes me that they let these pos’ go out to the public to re-offend. Then when they do get some time they only serve a portion of it. Every. Single. Murder. Story. Begins or has sexual assault in it where they get caught but let go😒😡 the lack of concern the justice system has for rapists is very telling.

Hailey me and my partner love your stuff thankyou for everything youve done please don't stop

My heart breaks for everyone involved in all these crimes ;(
I just want to clarify that when it comes to sentencing for criminals, they’re only going to do about half of the amount of time given.
For example if they say 10yrs they’ll only do about 5. Same for 20yrs = 10 and so on.
Just so nobody thinks that these people are getting let off early etc.
You’re welcome lol and keep up the great work, love your content especially the conspiracy videos!💎

a case that I think would be interesting to cover would be the yeardley love case. it shows how such an unhealthy relationship mixed with alcohol can lead to such an awful ending. there’s a bunch of media coverage around it, as well as a foundation her mom had set up called “the one love foundation”. my lacrosse team always uses this foundation around our fall play days.

Regarding his misogynistic ass, so he and his counsel were blaming his mommy issues for him being a psycho creep murderer who assaulted and killed innocent women minding their own fucking business. He also had incel tendencies being that one of his victims he targeted for righteously wanting nothing to do with him. And how often does this happen every day? Where a dude acts like he has the right and entitlement for women to fall at his feet and do what he wants? Yet no one gives a shit about it. This story clearly presents the fact that the "justice" system doesn't give a fuck about violence against women.

That’s utterly horrific
there's no excuse for grown adults making bad choices that they know are wrong (murder, assault, etc). but at the same time when people are failed on every level, like from their parents, school figures, the government, the medical field, etc, it's at least telling how they got there and it does make me sad for at least the child versions of these people.

Just came to say its impossible to be sentenced to prison for any amount of time less than a year and a day (366 days). Any sentence of one year or less is served in jail.
