    I am interested in Cyber Security and Going to school for it Now. What made me interested in this is I was a victim to a hacker that got ahold of my bank information. I was charged every month for 6+ months. I also haven't personally had an interest in anything until now!

    Love the boxeur\hacker analogy:)
    Although an late bloomer to this field will definetely look for what it takes for an entry level position for this area.
    Thinking of on +Network or +Security Certification.

      Thanks Brandon! So you are looking for advice on how to seek an entry level position in Cybersecurity? We might be able to create a future video about that and ask the experts their opinion. We do know that many cybersec pros and companies are very active on Twitter so that might be a place to start. Good luck in the field!

    • @turboDout
      @turboDout 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Although the description may state that, you can still get your foot in the door with minimum experience - so long as you have a strong understanding of the concepts/fundamentals. I was able to get a software development position at a company that originally required 4+ years, although I had none.

      Ya I agreed. I read them on Indeed and all said like +5 security exp or 3+ years cyber related. How the F is this entry and no wonder why the industry is in shortage, start believing candidates can do the job and not throw away their resumes soon as you don't see the +5 years exp in security.

      As-400 is still in demand believe It or not, even .Net and many technologies from the 90's are still required to get into some IT Jobs since, well, many reasons, but mainly my Guess is reliability, shortage of newcomers and overall laziness/complications when swapping to other platforms/technologies!

    I have a degree in Russian, and I love to learn languages. I did some free coding bootcamps over this last summer, which led me to make a big decision-getting into the tech field instead of going grad school. I'm now getting an AAS in computer programming at the local community college, just to get my feet wet. I'm not sure where to look to even find out if cyber security is something I want to pursue. Is my Russian background analogous in any way to security? Basically what I'm asking-would I be laughed out of an interview with a tech company for having only a liberal arts BA and a 2 year computer programming degree? Any thoughts, ideas, stories, examples, networking, etc would be appreciated.

    • @eamon876
      @eamon876 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think having a second language would be a great plus, so much cyber security is online and the net isn't just in English. Do you mind me asking since I saw this was almost a year ago how you've been going with it?

    If I already have a bachelors in Operations Management, will it be crucial not to go back to school for another b.a in CIS? I want to pursue a Computer Systems Analysts field. I was thinking of applying for some certifications to accelerate the process but also save another $20k in education. I know that another B.A will be the better option but will the alternative work on it's own?

      There isn't a career in cyber security, so start with computer science and then specialize in cyber security, if you want to go ahead find certifications and courses as they said in the video, search for cissp, ceh and oscp. Prepare for those certs even if you are not going to take the exams, that will give you the level required to get into cyber security

      MOHD AMIR KHAN I'd still recommend getting your basic certs first to prove to yourself as well as HR that you do know your basics, the CEH and CISSP aren't basic tests the CISSP is actually for people that have had a few years in the industry. so go through basics first. also the OSCP isn't a multiple choice test it's a hands on real world experience test, that will push you into some hard places so don't expect to be earning it anytime soon unless you're a talented black hat hacker or a genius white hat.

    Curious as hell, but... over 30, all programming knowledge from back in the day is long gone, and what's left is a BA in Technological Culture and a passion for cyber security that I've never acted on. I'm looking at free online courses so that I can try and move into a low tier IT position at the SaaS company that I work for, then work my way up from that baseline over the next 5-10 years. I think a nice goal would be to become a CISM after some years of hard commitment and adequate experience.

    • @SecureNinjaTV
      @SecureNinjaTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like a great long term plan! You'll definitely want to look toward getting some certifications to propel you to the next level, then start moving towards CISM. It all sounds really good... but here is the issue. You go to school get a degree, a couple of certification, and try to get your first job to get the experience, but no one want to hire you because you don't have the experience. now what? Obviously someone who take the time to study,get certification must have some passion cause there is a lot to learn in this subject. HOW DO YOU GET A JOB IN THE FIELD YOU LOVE FRESH OUT OF COLLEGE AND WITHOUT EXPERIENCE? That I believe is the question that many including me are asking

    • @SecureNinjaTV
      @SecureNinjaTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're applying for entry level jobs in IT security with a degree and certifications in hand then you should have a good very shot at getting one. As with any field, the idea is to start small, even just working in general IT is a good way to get your foot in the door in bigger companies. Or there is the option to intern. It also doesn't hurt to be doing either of these things during your college studies to better prepare you when you graduate. Also, networking with companies and people higher positions in the field is always a good idea. You can do this by attending trade shows, events, meet ups etc. Putting yourself out there via networking is the best way to find a job in any field. Hope this helps and feel free to reach out through this link for more targeted advice on which certifications will give you the best shot at entry level jobs. secureninja.com/cpid/7013A000001y7Ar/promos/sm

    The lore is growing like "tales of PCP and DMT!" Those "six figure jobs" quickly become 40K jobs because you're "just not worth that kind of money!" Deja Vu all over again, Yogi! A flood of "talent" into a vacuum makes for the new lore; "The more you know in this biz, the LESS you get paid! How the F did that happen?!"

      A computer science degree is a good start. A few basic certifications should further help you land that first job or internship in the field. Please contact us via this form to find out how to get started >

      Python will definitely help you in this field. Learn it well. Internships are important. Many technical cyber internships may have you build automation tools, so be prepared to apply your CS knowledge, too.

    1:26 why is she being interviewed she isnt a cyber security expert or even working in a company where she manages them etc. waste of video time in my opinion.

      dude what on earth made you come to this conclusion? She's studied cybersecurity at some of the best schools in the US, which includes Harvard. She is the current chief information security officer for Red Queens Technologies (and has been for 18 years). She has decades worth of management at multiple companies. Take two seconds to google someone.

    lol network security is significantly easier than application security. Sucks that there are more jobs in network security than in reverse engineering or malware analysis, both domains that are a lot more challenging to work in than network security, which should be automated anyway.

    • @Fermion.
      @Fermion. 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course there are more network security jobs, a network has much more exposure to the general public. Disassembling source code and debugging programs is difficult (and fun imo), but if you're a small/medium business looking to beef up your security, hiring a netsec admin is generally a better ROI than hiring a malware analyst.
      Look at it this way, if you could only choose one way to protect your home would you:
      A. Moderately defend the perimeter - _Proaction_
      B. Learn exactly how you were breached - _Reaction_
      Granted, in a perfect world, both would be preferable, but the salary demands for both are usually too much for a small/medium business to absorb. So they will always choose the most cost effective method of mitigation, which is option A.
      Speaking of automation, a decent netsec admin will have custom scripts to automate most of his tools anyway. What separates a good admin from a bad one is what's done about that data received from the tools. Even the most advanced heuristic modeled automated tools can't rewrite your company's security policy. A human is still needed in the loop. AI hasn't quite advanced that far yet. Once AI has developed that far, there's nothing stopping it from automating malware analysis as well.

    What major is the best major to take if you are interested in hacking??not saying that I am,I'm just asking.

    • @KelNg130
      @KelNg130 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't bother with a major. Hacking is a skill obtained from consistent practice of hands-on learning with various different tools and software. If that's your interest, get familiar with Kali Linux and become an Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).

    What if i told you that God came in the form of man(he was human through his son, who is Jesus Christ) into the world, so that he could die for our sins, and he did this, therefore through his death the devil who had the power of death would be destroyed, and by doing so deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery, and also input his spirit in our hearts. The Son of God became the Son of Man in order that the sons of men might become the sons of God.
    Salvation is the dead coming to life never to die again, because we were once dead in sin, but when Christ rose up, we became dead to sin and were given new bodies, not only that God gave us a comforter who is the holy spirit and he dwells inside of us.
    Therefore, after all this was done all we needed to do to tap in, was to believe that God in human form(Jesus Christ) came to die for us, because of his love for us and rose up on the third day so that we could all have eternal lives(Never die again). We can see this in John 3:16 :- "For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life". You can receive eternal life for free by just believing. Jesus put's a higher meaning to love by the way he loved.
    God has forgiven you already, no matter the kind or level of sin you think you committed, and all he wants you to do is believe, believe today and let the Holy spirit(The comforter) dwell on your inside. To learn more you can check out Celebration Church ng on youtube.
    Regardless of what you might be going through, your feelings or circumstances, your faith in God’s love will remain unshaken when you stand strong in the consciousness that he sent his son to die in your place so you can have eternal life. Say this "I am dead to sin, and i am alive to God."
