I am currently enrolled for an Bsc in IT majoring in Systems Administration.I am actually considering getting into cybersecurity thank you for the clarity.
Great and honest information. I wish there were an avenue for CISSP associate or ISC2 associate to have to have more real job opportunities. I will look more into the IBM cert since IBM has by far the best teaching resources
The Security+ cert from CompTIA is the most popular version of that. Also, I believe ISC2 offers an SSCP cert, which is more entry level, but I don’t believe it is as widely recognized.
Starting 3rd year in Bsc cybersecurity, recently got CC and google cybersecurity certs. I split my last year ,so i can look for junior position or internship, also i have near 2 years as IT technician ,so hope i can get in the field soon.
2 years in trying to break into cybersecurity, and all I can say is that free or low-budget options don't get you anywhere near worth considering for entry level jobs (sadly) - I find the entry level certs and self-learners are frowned upon here in the UK.
Very discouraging coming out of college & the jobs I’m looking for in cyber security “entry level” are 3-7 years experience… I’ve just done 4 years in school, how would I come out of school with minimum 5 years experience…? I understand companies want people who know what they’re doing but like… just give me a shot 😭
couldn't agree more...completed my master's in security to see these job openings. Extremely discouraging and would not suggest people step into cybersecurity unless they're extremely sure.
With the CISSP employers will accept an Associate, in lieu of having 5 years of experience, and just let you work the 4 to 5 years there for the full certification.
I have two questions on the subject: 1- In 10 years, can AIs replace or take over many vacancies in cybersecurity? 2- Do you think doing comptia+, NDE, DFE, cloud+ would already be enough certifications to enter the market as a junior? what salary to expect?
to answer 1: we already use AI based detection in cybersecurity. SCAP, Machine learning, etc. they can and do produce false positives, so their will always be a need for CyS Professionals.
@@jacobmyers5936 Excellent response. Cybersecurity will never be replaced by AI since it requires human qualities such as thinking, empathy, and leadership.
At this point, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs is so great that we don’t need to even begin worrying about AI replacing them all. Secondly, unless and until AI gets vastly better than it seems it will be in the foreseeable future, we are still going to need humans making the tough decisions, weighing pros and cons of responses, building secure architectures, etc.
I knew 2 people that did this, but said it was SUPER boring so they quit and now they're working retail. How boring could it be that they'd rather do retail than earn $100K? 🤔

Cyber security is not an “entry level” career. Unless you did a cyber security internship during college, it’s going to be really hard to get a job if you have no prior IT experience. Companies rarely take on people with 0 experience in cyber sec. It’s a career in which you grow into from either networking or IT.
Stop the cap. Look at cyber security entry roles job listings. The min wage ones accept no exp and will teach you on the job. Entey level base salary 65k in nz. You don't even need a degree for cs. Ask chat gbt. This is just to be put on the top of the application list. Coming from it background or a fancy college. As most companies will have everyone required ie programmers, Java ppl, cyber security etc so if you have a issue outside of your field your team will help you vs you can become a jack of all trades and know how to do all their roles ofc you'd be first pick and demanding half a mill.
@@Danny1680danny Those “no experience” roles are for people that have absolutely no experience whatsoever in Cybersecurity but do have experience in Networking or Help Desk. Curious about the multitude of individuals online offering free guidance and the resources guiding others on this path. If this career path indeed offers well-paid positions in high demand, why are there so many individuals helping others attain it? While they assert the need for more talent, it's natural to question their motivations. People usually don't help without a reason. Why are they selling this dream? I'm unsure; I would appreciate any insights. What am I missing?

Use your best judgement and look for references

Yes, if you want the certificate, that’s true. If you don’t you can just audit the course for free (although, they don’t make it easy to find that option, admittedly)
Thank you very much sir for the great insight. i have take some introductory courses on cybersecurity but what worries me most is the fact that i lack the technical skills and so i began a research for free online cybersecurity internships to gain that exposure but that too has proven futile. Please can you help find such internship programmes that are currently available.
The CISSP exam costs 800 to 900 dollars and about 50% of people pass the first time.. That's a bit of a racket because it kind of turns the game into a rich person's club since a lot of people who are not yet employed in cybersecurity will have a hard time paying for that. Realtor licensing exams and exams healthcare related exams of 150 cost about $200 dollars in comparison.

i wish to have a career in Cyber Security, where can i have certification or the education
Please inform if anyone not good in maths or not from science background so can they persue cyber security as a career?
Reasoning skills are critical but advanced math and science are not required in order to do cybersecurity
@@jeffcrume ok thanks for the information 👍
Thank you very much sir for the great insight. i have take some introductory courses on cybersecurity but what worries me most is the fact that i lack the technical skills and so i began a research for free online cybersecurity internships to gain that exposure but that too has proven futile. Please can you help find such internship programmes that are currently available.
Thanks
I have no experience in cybersecurity
Should I join the course and learn ?
The CISSP exam costs 800 to 900 dollars and about 50% of people pass the first time.. That's a bit of a racket because it kind of turns the game into a rich person's club since a lot of people who are not yet employed in cybersecurity will have a hard time paying for that. Realtor licensing exams and exams healthcare related exams of 150 cost about $200 dollars in comparison.
