I just now, after 15 years realize what savior meant when he mentioned the dreams. He seems to know that the survivors of death trucks suffer from nightmares and strange dreams as a consequence of brainwashing. He must’ve known someone that suffered a similar fate to Strelok in the past, otherwise he couldn’t have known. It’s a shame that the Savior was never reused in Stalker, it would’ve been so cool if Strelok bumped into him on his journey to the center. Another great video about one fo the many mysteries of The Zone. You have by far the best Stalker related channel on TH-cam and it’s going to grow big, I’m sure of it, especially with more and more people getting into the series.
There was a PDA entry in SoC where it talks about nightmares being common amongst all stalkers: "Here's what I'll tell you. You almost can't sleep at all in this part of the Zone... I'm lucky I can't sleep anyway, but the nightmares people see... Sometimes they don't wake up in the morning. Some get a heart attack, for example. Some fly off the handle, some go nuts... but rumor has it there's actually one cure. If you need to sleep real bad, you should find an old bucket... a big pot will do... a cauldron or something... As long as it has no holes... You stick your head into it and have a good night... there now, you may laugh all you want. I'll see you in a couple of days when you are ready to drop dead from exhaustion. Morons... So tell me, what the heck are the grunts roaming about sporting these fancy helmets now, eh? Well yeah! For about two years neither hide nor hair, and now they're all over the place! And the brain buckets are something new. Someone found the body of one such grunt, they've seen it. There's a mesh inside, made of thin copped wire, attached to the liner. What the hell is it doing there? Mark my words, there's something strange behind all this mumbo-jumbo. This place is useless in terms of anomalies, these are not the grounds for those, other areas are safer and with much better swag in store... So I reckon they're researching the grounds. Marking the area for they base. They want to get through to the Sarcophagus. I'm telling you... What we should do is try and stay as far away as possible from them when the moment comes..."
@@The_Cosmic_Navigator I remember that PDA entry, maybe everyone in The Zone is experiencing nightmares, it's just weird that he mentioned it in that context after finding a survivor of a death truck. He also mentioned Strelok having the mark, which makes me believe that Strelok is not the first living agemt to be founs by the aavior.
Yes and how he is taking about it. It's like a very experienced stalker is talking to you or better sayin teaching you in the zone. So you need to listen to him very carefully because you are in the zone.
While I suppose it is then non-canon for the official release of SoC, I believe the cutscene is from a time when the Cordon had many more hills and uneven terrain, explaining the location of the death truck a bit better. Another great video from my favourite Stalker!
the one thing Savior says that i think was interesting was "at least death would have saved him from the dreams". does this mean he himself is Marked and is either carrying out CC's orders of cleaning up crashes or managed to break free of their influence? or does it mean he's saved multiple Marked ones and noticed that weird dreams/nightmares are a common occurrence for them? or somewhere in between all of that. maybe hes a marked one that was tasked with cleanup duty, he broke free, and now he tries to save any that he can
I think he refers to the horrible dreams people have when sleeping in the Zone. According to a Folklore entry from the PDA Encyclopedia, certain areas in the Zone are very difficult to sleep in because of those persistent and terrifying nightmares.
8:35 I think the stalker with a trench-coat and scarred zombie like face is actually Mercenary Scar giving a quick look when lightning appeared, because you can see the part of the collar from the trench-coat which is blue, and the face shape reminds of Scar's ( My theory. ) Edit: Slow down the playback speed to 0.25 and look carefully.
Strangest thing about Savior is fact that he know about "Dreams". So he either meet agents who tell of dreams before (maybe reason why he is not as surprised as Sidorovich if Dreams even are something other than memories of before brainwashing that slip in from time to time) or he himself is/was agent who realize it later on. Way he run towards crash look like he in some way know crash happen. So he either hear it happen somewhere in distance and he go investigate it immediately, or he is tasked to investigate them for survivors by CC to make sure they survive and do their mission as he seem to do it before like with Strelok (who unfortunately have his mission be error) and when he is done with that, he simply leaves and dont reappear until another Death Truck have accident or something similar
I think he refers to the horrible dreams people have when sleeping in the Zone. According to a Folklore entry from the PDA Encyclopedia, certain areas in the Zone are very difficult to sleep in because of those persistent and terrifying nightmares. But who knows...
One of the big mysteries of the zone.I said many times that imo there are at least 2 more marked agents in STALKER universe...One is Saviour and one is Guide.
When they are caught at the zero point of the region from each group, they are brainwashed and re-coded, and among them the drivers of death trucks emerge. In that scene, the man drives as if he drank a lot of vodka, that is, he is not in the right mind. Armed human zombies are also distributed with these trucks. Marked One is very lucky.
My hypothesis is that the truck accessed the cordon via the darkscape, the removed area. It would have then went through the dark valley to access the darkscape, as they were connected in an earlier version of the game. When Sidorovich talks about the "road to the south" after you leave X-18 in the dark valley, that road is the darkscape. I believe it may have been mentioned in a video... The more theoretical portion of my theory is that there is some secret path from the radar to the dark valley, only accessible to the monolith and of course the trucks. I must admit I got this idea from a mod I played, not sure which.
I think going through Darkscape does not solve the problem of the road being blocked. The tunnel connecting it to the Cordon is full of concrete slabs and besides, Darkscape only goes to Dark Valley and after that the road stops, it does not go further North.
(Sorry for necroing the discussion but....) I have a similar theory. The real life Zone's radiation-effected area is quite irregular, so perhaps the anomalous Zone is too. Add to that the side paths such as the Darkscape which are isolated and buried deep behind anomalous fields, right? To me that paints a picture of a possibility.... Perhaps the Monolithians cart the marked agents of the C-con to the borders of their territory by various means, then from there it is likely the transport is done by disguised agents, and finally all we need is the death trucks to be familiar to Sid and Savior... So perhaps one of the disguised-transport legs of the journey uses a road close to Cordon, similar to Darkscape, but that phase doesn't actually reach the edge of the Zone? Maybe it is a long spindly length of anomaly-free road, but the origin(s) and destination(s) are all still safely well within the borders of the Zone? This might explain why the Ukrainian government didn't poke the C-con operations -- to them it looks like some Stalkers running a dangerous and rickety truck line inside the Zone... Of little interest. Meanwhile the nodes of this network are far from the beaten paths, and heavily guarded by some secretive proxy group, so Stalkers suspect something about the death trucks, but limit their investigations to the wrecked trucks? Or....even more sinister... Sidorovich knows and protects the death trucks, hiring Savior to do cleanup, because he is trading with the Monolithians' proxies?
Like in war where a soldier plays dead amongst the corpses, it could be that the CCon hides the actual Stalker agents amongst dead bodies, giving it a lower chance of being discovered. The death truck has more useful purposes though as it serves as a warning to stalkers: This is what happens to you if you come to close to the center. And instead of burying bodies, they simply use a brainwashed stalker to drive them to various areas around the zone. Most mutants would eat the corpses, except around a truck such as in Cordon where it's highly radioactive. So it could be a coincidence that's the only clear example of being a death truck.
Greeting from Czech. You always make my day when i get a notification that there's a new video. And as always, it's great. Best Stalker lore channel. I can't wait for Stalker 2 to come out and you to tell me later stuff what I missed or overlooked somehow :)
5:30 My theory about the crashed truck that you can find in the Cordon is that it was a prisoner transport gone wrong. I think what happened was a Military squad managed to capture a few members of Monolith alive, so they tried to move them out of the Zone via a truck so that they could interrogate them without fear of interruption, but the Monolith members managed to overpower their captors and cause the truck to crash before it could reach the southern checkpoint, killing all of them. It wouldn't be out of character, given the lore around what Monolith are willing to do to avoid or 'escape' capture...
that’s all well and good except for the fact that it’s the truck we came in on and that we see what happens to it in the first few seconds of starting a new game…
Good video. I know that's maybe isn't canon(or is it?) but in the mod NLC 7 the author did a good job with implementing trucks in main game. There's multiple times you can encounter them destroyed in more places in the Zone, even a "fresh" one that was stopped by Freedom at the Barrier with some strange glow on tires. Stalkers talk more about them and have different opinions about it. Some folks talked they heard or saw that trucks are teleporting when moving. When Freedom explored one that stopped nearby the base, it didn't had an any sort of engine("it was some kind of big toy"). But it vanished next day and left some slime or something on the ground
I love your videos. I always have them playing on the backround when doing anything! Be it yardwork, working on my literary work or even playing games. My sincere thanks for the work you put into each video
i got a theory regarding Scar and the opening scene of SOC at 2:52 in this video we get a close up display of a stalker who has been pretty much zombified or so. We know that Strelok was in that death truck at that moment, but it probs wasn't Strelok because this stalker is quite difference in appearance - wears a coat (it seems to have some sorta patch on it but idk) and not a Sunrise suit which Strelok wears later on in the scene, his face is quite deformed and seems to have a large scar on his forehead which really stands out, so I'm thinking that's Scar. The coat Scar wears in the opening scene of Clear Sky is quite similar to this one (also both are wearing the hood up), but I'm not sure about the scar as i never really noticed it while he was in normal human form. If we look at like 5 seconds before the close up display of whom I'm thinking is Scar, it's possible that there are actually 2 stalkers still sitting in the death truck, but the other one is really hard to spot (the one directly behind the driver supposedly - the scene here is quite dark). i guess it makes sense since we know from CS that Scar has a unique immunity and endurance when it comes to >> these kinds of things
Great theory! I'd like to add that the Clear Sky scientists told Scar that his central nervous system could only take so much abuse until it shuts down and he would die. Also, it would also be logical that the C-Con simply killed Scar because converting him into an agent would be disastrous if would relapse like Strelok. A turned agent being immune to emissions is not something they want.
listening to you while doing projects makes the work much less of a pain yo go through. And the fact that you're talking about STALKER is the icing on the cake. Keep it up dude ! Thanks for the videos
The death truck driver kind of looks like pavlik from the "deal with a snitch" mission, could they be the same person because we never saw a corpse with a duty uniform so he might have escaped. Nice video btw.
Another good video my fellow Stalker. I wonder if the truck of the Stalker 2 trailer "Enter the Zone" is not just an allegory to the Death Trucks but actually is a genuine one. I know that C-Con doesn't technically exists now, but I'm not that sure that its completly destroyed. And if that's the case the driver might be a programed agent. Sure he doesn't seem brainwashed and he even listens to the radio. However, he clearly drives towards the CNPP and we have to remember that agents doesn't realize that they are doing missions. Damn, I'm so hyped for Stalker 2. Thanks for the videos my fellow Stalker, they really help with the waiting. Good Hunting
The Savior has to be a Cconsciences agent if he knows about the dreams, IMHO, the dreams are common for stalker agents that had information imprinted on their minds. death trucks are the main transportation of agents into the zone to infiltrate stalkers as spies and operate in cointelpro to get what the cc scientists in the noosphere want, imho. The interesting thing is death trucks are so commonly attacked by the zone. Ending their agents before starting their operation. people who control the noosphere control the zone at least that's what I got from the stalker2 endings. if that were the case, why would they attack their own agent transporter?
Perhaps the crashed truck you find in the cordon was is pursuit of streloks truck and they both got wrecked by the same storm? Like those monolith guys could be out for blood and anomalies zapped them both. The zone moves in mysterious ways after all.
Knowing ShOC went a lot of drastic changes during the development, it is possible that the "savior" is meant to be added as an NPC, but got cut or whatever happened.
now, that's the stuff! haven't even started however must recognize the mystery behind these trucks; great subject Anomalous, as always a pleasure. edit: wow not even started, the duty outfit for the driver; never considered it, however makes sense. A good willing faction defending the inner most access of the Zone, what else do you need? And with zeal, justifiable. Could make sense for someone that doesn't have the full details but recognize the Zone's inherent danger as a whole,
It's interesting that Saviour has to specify that Strelok's body has "got the mark", meaning that not everyone transported in Death Trucks has the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. tattoo, and, thus, not everyone in the Death Trucks is a marked agent of the C-Consciousness.
Interesting thing is that only half of the trucks are failure. It implies there are most likely loads of Marked Ones. And most likely also outside of the Zone.
I have wondered why the c con bothered marking agents with the stalker tattoos, with the frequency of other stalkers finding dead stalkers with the tattoo in the death trucks any live stalkers with the tattoo would immediately draw interest and probably blow their agent’s cover
most important thing is that the death truck that strelok fell off was shown to be completely destroyed - heavily implies that it was an anomaly not a lightning and the one truck found in cordon is intact - people who lack this basic awarness yet spill theories left and right should be ignored
As always, your videos are of the greatest quality. I´ve saw your channel being recommended in forums and chats, and ive been sharing with friends as well: i hope soon youll see the surge of views you deserve. I have a question left about the topic: why is sidorovich willing to pay for marked corpses, and is anxious to pay for an alive one? what was he getting from all of that?
5:31 my theory is that the monolith sent out a unit to steal/acquire military hardware with some disguised as soldiers, but didn't get any further after getting caught by a patrolling hind.
After all, Monolith soldiers could have been on the death truck as guards... And then again: It is also possible, that the developers just didn't have the entire picture of what is now S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lore in their heads, when creating the models i.e. the beginning cut scene of SoC.
I contacted the Game Devs and asked where all Electricity came from as I had not seen a solar susytem or Generators+NPP is offcourse destroyed.... And they said... Its One of Zone's Secret😂😅
Nobody mentions the frequency of death trucks, how many of them are being sent a day? a week? a month? Monolith bodies and Military bodies could be explained by my theory of just agents that are not in other faction suits yet, only the driver and other passenger has military uniform. Strider and his group could be also be agents, they could have forgotten their task or lost PDA's under psy-wave influence or when being Monolithians.
Easy. Military was carrying Monolith prisoners and it met nearly the same fate as Strelok’s truck. It’s not uncommon to grab prisoners from the main bad guys and transport them for “talk” sessions. You wouldn’t just have them all sitting in the back of the truck alone. You’d have guards sitting with them so they don’t just jump out of the truck at any given time. That’s not that hard to figure out. We did it when we had to transport POWs.
i think that the truck at 5:31 could be the truck the strelok is in, it's just that the devs didn't want to make new model just for that 1 truck so thay use the monolith and militery dead bodies model that they already have but idk the terrain positioning is correct but the nature is wrong, you can see the elevation thet the saviour come from but there is no tree around it unlike the one in the game.
The game also features props for stalker dead bodies so I don't know why they did not use it in this case. Also, in the cutscene the crashed truck lies with its bottom on the ground while in the Cordon the truck lies sideways.
Well my theory is this, the game was supposed to have vehicles, and places like Darkscape to use them, so it means it would have workable roads, not safer, but at least can be crossed in a truck, still many marked stalkers die, now, the game hints a lot on the corruption of the military, and later in the links that duty have with the military, so a duty driver may have a better chance to talk and bribe the military to take out something out of the zone, why would the CC do that ? Well they have to, supplies for monolith and tools spare parts and such, the hint is the weapons monolith use, some of NATO origin, so someone is selling them those, but how do they pay ? Well, the only resource they can send is artifacts, and mutants and stuff from the zone, so the need for the trucks, now... who is buying all that, and what for ? Artifacts where supposed to be like seeds of the zone, so maybe someone outside the zone is replicating the CC work...
Have you ever thought about doing a video around the collectors/special edition physical copies of the stalker games? Might not make a long video but it would be nice
Stalker 2 reference? Both beginning cut scenes are similar. Both trucks driving in similar conditions, both carrying people on the back. Idk i might be waffling but maybe look into this one bro?
Excellent topic! Since Duty and the Ukrainian military have history together it would be conceivable that they worked together. Duty having the reach and capability to venture north and the military's efforts of gatekeeping the Zone. Duty and their code adhere to the destruction of the Zone and it's creations. To do so would require research on the dead...to know thy enemy. Additionally with the military gatekeeping the zone death trucks managed by Duty deliver attrition rates, how long stalkers have been there, how far did they get...a report card on the efforts of the military to keep people out. Who is the group outside the zone where these trucks are to be driven is the question. Is it the international science group?
@@anomalousdugout9557 It's not in the game interactive but the lore tells the story of Duty being a derivative of ex military. I know you have done the Scientist of the zone but I think they are a bit more sinister than the passive group they appear to be. Duty does not profit from the zone when dealing with the scientists, they are tolerated and give over things they find. For what purpose? Not to hijack the death trucks but when I saw the freeze frame on the Duty driver all these questions came up. Years into this and your still finding more questions than answers. We need a part 2! Great work!
What do the stencilled words on the side of death trucks say? (The small patch near the driver's cabin.) Would be great as a non Russian or Ukrainian reader to have a comprehensive translation of all the text on textures.

Glad to read that, thanks!
Love this video ! You break down and explain very well the death truck theory as I was always curious about the intro video !! Thank you 🙏🏾
Glad you enjoyed.
I don't think the military drove their BTRs all the way to the CNPP
They probably air dropped them in with helicopters.
Epik,my crazy duty=monolith theory made it in the video NICE!!!Great video btw
Yeah it did!
Great video, this is one of the best mysteries the series has, no doubts.
Thanks, it sure is.
The death truck driver kind of looks like pavlik from the "deal with a snitch" mission, could they be the same person because we never saw a corpse with a duty uniform so he might have escaped. Nice video btw.
I believe they used the same face as General Voronin, but I could be mistaken.
Another awesome video, dude. Keep up your excellent work, STALKER!
Thanks.
Catching up on your posts. Thank you for all the hard work you put into explaining all the lore. I have learned a lot
Nice!
Honestly i like the savior character.i hope we will see him in stalker 2
Yes he seems like a nice stalker.
you are one of my fav lore dudes on yt and i dont only mean Stalker lore
Nice :)
so glad you covered this one my friend
I'm glad as well.
Yes, I wonder the same thing. Time will tell.
I do believe the death truck from the cut scene is the same truck in the game.
Could make sense for someone that doesn't have the full details but recognize the Zone's inherent danger as a whole,
Indeed, thanks!
Yeah I don't really know. Another mystery...
death trucks when life trucks walk in:
:D
Great video, as always 👍
Thanks :)
4:19 we all know his real name is Redrick Schuhart ;)
Yes.
His name is Jeff
most important thing is that the death truck that strelok fell off was shown to be completely destroyed - heavily implies that it was an anomaly not a lightning
and the one truck found in cordon is intact - people who lack this basic awarness yet spill theories left and right should be ignored
Thanks. I think Sid only pays for Marked One because he is alive. That way he can exploit him later on.
Sidorivich’s reaction will always crack me up
5:31 my theory is that the monolith sent out a unit to steal/acquire military hardware with some disguised as soldiers, but didn't get any further after getting caught by a patrolling hind.
Could be, nice theory!
One of the greatest mysteries is what is in the can food...

Proverb has to be the best Stalker nickname ever
After all, Monolith soldiers could have been on the death truck as guards... And then again: It is also possible, that the developers just didn't have the entire picture of what is now S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lore in their heads, when creating the models i.e. the beginning cut scene of SoC.
Yes, that's definitely possible.
0:24 awesome zoom out
I really hope we see Savior again in STALKER 2. Not necessarly a big role. Maybe just bumping into him and having a short conversation with him.
I contacted the Game Devs and asked where all Electricity came from as I had not seen a solar susytem or Generators+NPP is offcourse destroyed....

These take time.
@@anomalousdugout9557 true, but everytime it comes out it's always perfect
Nobody mentions the frequency of death trucks, how many of them are being sent a day? a week? a month?
Monolith bodies and Military bodies could be explained by my theory of just agents that are not in other faction suits yet, only the driver and other passenger has military uniform. Strider and his group could be also be agents, they could have forgotten their task or lost PDA's under psy-wave influence or when being Monolithians.
Not to my knowledge. Having agents dressed as Monolith would blow their cover pretty fast, but I guess it is indeed a possibility.
@@anomalousdugout9557 i guess changing their uniform at the drop off point would make sensr
Finally, I have been trying to find information about the Death Trucks for the longest time. Thank you!
Better late then never :)
Great video stalker!
Thanks stalker.
Yeah perhaps. These mysteries will likely remain unsolved...
Have you ever thought about doing a video around the collectors/special edition physical copies of the stalker games? Might not make a long video but it would be nice
Wow, lots of traffic on your channel bro, congrats!
Not as much as before, but thanks.
@@anomalousdugout9557 I don't know that, I guess I wasn't around when you're up haha
I think at 5:25 those monoliths are captured alive by military for interrogation and that truck is not a death truck.
I don't think Duty and the Military are working together, but perhaps I'm wrong.
@@anomalousdugout9557 maybe not in this idea but duty and military do work together quite a bit with the military even supplying duty
(The small patch near the driver's cabin.)
Would be great as a non Russian or Ukrainian reader to have a comprehensive translation of all the text on textures.
