Solo from this song was my friend's favourite guitar solo, so I decided to play it for her as a birthday gift. Originally, I recorded it on CD and gave her a physical copy, then I uploaded it here on YT later. This is why there are those pages out there. Basically, I wrote "Hey happy birthday" on the pages.

As a player for the better part of about 40 years, I wanted to commend you on your excellent playing. In particular, you have very good vibrato and are able to successfully merge lead and rhythm in the solo. Well done - thanks for posting.!

Just the best version of this I have ever heard. This girl has incredible feel. Shredders take note - vibrato, tone, phrasing, timing, feel, soul. Speed is meaningless when compared to this level of musicality.

I just stumbled on this video and was watching when my wife came in. She loves Pink Floyd and I told her to just listen to this solo for a minute, then told her to look at the screen...She says, "Wow! She's excellent! She's Polish!" My Sweetheart is from Krakow and said that she recognized your name as being Polish. When your video finished, I started again and asked her to read the cards you were flipping before you began playing. She said that you were sending birthday greetings to Madziu and that this solo was a gift for her. Very nice - you made our day! Thank you!

Finally someone playing Comfortably Numb almost correctly. You have the bends in there very nicely. For the long sustained notes, though, turn to your wammy bar and give it a good shake or two. Watch his New York session and you will see what I mean.

    • @MichaelEber
      @MichaelEber 10 ปีที่แล้ว

Who ever said to use the whammy bar for more sustain??? David uses it for more vibrato on the sustained notes and that is the only thing she is missing in David's style of play. The only thing.

great tone. a little tip that maybe you've already sorted out for yourself, but @00:25 you bend the 14th fret of the B string up that nice sweet half step bend but you take it to the edge of the fingerboard and at the tail end you hear it clip the edge. My advice as a player is to generally bend toward the middle of the neck. so top 3 (E B G) bending up and bottom three (D A E) bending down (i.e. in all cases in towards the middle of the neck. cheers.
just finished listening and wanted to add that you have a really great vibrato, way to go!

I like the variation you put into it. The tone was also perfect, and while you could use the whammy bar I think you did just fine. My only question is what guitar is that?

That was awesome, Sylwia! You did a great job! If I closed my eyes, I'd think it was Gilmour himself playing! Rock on, girl and don't listen to idiots like "John Smith" (John Smith! Sure!)

Might I ask why she shouldn't listen to those who don't like her cover, and tell her why they don't?

    •  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sub Royalty Did you bother to read John Smith's comment below? You need an explanation for that? Sheesh!

Sub Royalty I think Mr. Nunez said it better than I ever could! I didn't see your reply until I saw his. Thanks, Luis!

After watching you, I watched David Glmour at the Royal Festival, and he does not play it as well as you do, for one thing your bends have more life (say more). He may have written it, and maybe you can't do that yet, but you can play it, and maybe that is why your version has been pulled twice as many times as his. You can smile about that. Check it out, David may be better a lot of tmes, but not this time. You really have great feel for this, like a singer, not a shredder.

If you listen to Chuck Berry play "Johnny B. Goode" twice, you will hear plenty of missing notes and mistakes. Mark Knopfler said when he was growing up everyone learned Chet Atkin's material, "even the mistakes". No mention if Chester agreed that there were mistakes. Louis Armstrong thought that flatted fifths were a cheap and tawdry plea for affection. And you can compare Gilmore other guitarists, Don Felder's "Hotel California", I suspect, sold more and has more covers. Judging guitar playing is not like weighing gold, it is more like picking which painting you like. If you consider the affect you want to create, leaving some notes out may not be a mistake. A lot of people, seem to like this version and I am sure 90%, and I, did not notice which notes were missing, but if you like Gilmore's versions better (no missing notes in those? Hard to imagine), good for you.

this rocks...so much better than other covers! One small problem, it doesn't appear natural. Why are you concentrating so hard? Maybe you need to stop using picks. Let your face match the flow of your fingers.

Zenomexican Yuo yourself are whiny little jealous nitpcking bitch. And you know that.
She can post whatever she wants, what ever language she wants to you tube as long as it does not offend anybody. English is not the only language in you tube and in the world and you tube is for everyone. Her cover was ment to be public, not the message.
This was indeed one of the best cover from this solo in you tube, deal with it.
Please post your own version of it, we would really like to hear and comment.

Zenomexican No he did not come even close to that but you did, mean it or not. And your language tells it all. "fucktards" is that some new word or what ? haha. Actually your idiotism is more than you tube trolls have offered for a while. Dont bother to reply. Go and spit your anger to somewhere else. I will not read futher comments from you.

It's funny how you assume I'm Mexican just because it's in my name. Proves how much of an artard you are. And no. I said fucktards. Learn to read.
