amazing. I watched several reversed pendulum served tutorials but this one is the best!!! the drills are perfect and the instructions like the degrees of the different spins are superb in which other tutorials dont even taught.. great vid!! superb technique drills!! thank you man!!
Great advice for progressing to better pendulum and reverse pendulum serves. I plan to study this video many times alternating practice and re-viewing the video. It is a tough to master serve. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Eli - fantastic video!!! 👍👍👍. I was really amazed how the more extreme pendulum grip allowed me to get more spin and keep the ball short for the normal pendulum serve - really surprising. But I really struggle to transition into shakehand for the return ball. Would love your ideas on how to do this fast and safely without dropping the bat. Dan
Waoooo is is one of the best video for pendulum 🏓. The way you have described is very helpful for upcoming players and also for those who are not consistently placing the ball with rotation and spin. As always I appreciate 👍🏽🏓. Keep going, keep rocking.
I've resisted trying to learn the reverse pendulum serve, rationalizing it by thinking "I can have enough variation using the pendulum and a few other serves" But what blew that argument away was seeing you serve a series of pendulum and reverse pendulum and noting how deceptively similar they can appear while being so diametrically different in spin and direction. I need to get busy on this when the shutdown gets lifted! Thanks coach!
Totally agree!. I have been practicing pendulum serve and it’s noticeable that many tutorials do not emphasise the high elbow position in fact some advice low elbow close to body. It’s only when you consider trying to do pendulum and revers pendulum with a high elbow position that you can develop a similar motion to perform both . The Penny drops!. Great video ,thanks for illustrating this so well.
Technique beautifully explained by you Eli. After the technique is learned, the only way to master this serve is repetition, 100s of multiballs to train your muscles to co-ordinate in this un-natural movement. This is why I've never managed to master this serve as I don't have the time it takes.
This is the hardest serve! I'm still learning it, but to get it working I had to film myself, and then compare what I was doing to another tutorial video. I found, similar to the backhand flick, that contact point is very important because it's a fast but tight swing, so the end of the racket is moving much faster than near the handle.
I'm at the exacct same point. Trying to film myself and get it right. I'm finding it super difficult to get the full backswing and follow through connecting to the ball so that the ball hits the first bounce correctly. A lot going straight into the net or not getting enough contact to get the ball over the net.
I'm a little bit confused now. I watched both videos and especially had a look for the contact point. At nearby 6.00 the two guys told, that the contact point should be at the front of the bat, you tell us the contact point for a backspin serve should be at the end of the racket. What is right?
Very well explained. I m Sure of getting this point even the effect of my serve is 50% compared to the demo I ve watched. I would like to know how it should be returned ? If returned effectively, how to tackle?
I naturally do side and back using this serve. It defo the hardest. I find the finger placement on back height up help for feel and control. Under wrist for back spin feel so unnatural to get ur bat to normal position.
Good explained! Nice video! I struggle with the placement at my backspin/sidespin variation. I only can do this diagonal or to the elbow at max.... what should i change to place the ball although parallel. Is it the hip movement or what?
Great video, explanation and demonstration. I practice this one in my home, but one thing I dont do well is the transition to the normal grip following the serve (when playing an opponent). I find myself maintaining that grip for a few volleys. I didnt see how to properly do this from your video. Any tips on this? I dont want to drop the bat in a match. Thanks!!
I like to do it with almost a fully open bat so it makes it harder for my opponent to judge how I am touching the ball. This seems to be how Fan Zhendong does it as well, but its not an easy thing to do.
@@ebatt8803 But as always nice and very informative video. Learned it originally from a tutorial video over at TableTennisDaily and this one is a very good extension especially your bat movement angle tip!!! Looking forward to maybe some another collaboration with Tom Lodziak again! Keep up the awesome work!
This channel is the best related to table tennis. Eli does explain very well 👏

Thank you,
And unfortunately for now it’s a little too hard to explain, hopefully in the near future when I do videos again I can cover such questions

Thank you for showing us! I find this one so difficult but I hope I will master this one at some point.

There's also so many different ways to do it. I see the eBaTT way is wristy without elbow. More Timo, less FZD.

Great video, helped me so much, I am still practising the service to get as mush spin I can. I won´t just give up the one needs trainting a lot

Can you explain more details about how do you make a variations spin directions with a same motion.
Thank you so very much.
Very hard to explain but hopefully in the future I’ll do a video on the topic you mentioned
I love this serve as I normally get a short touch to the backhand which I can flick aggresively. Takes forever to learn tho. Keep up the good work🏓

Definitely 🙂

Any reason you chose flat handle over flared handle??

Which blade and rubbers do u use??
I use penhold grip, can you do this services in penhold grip thank very much..🤔😊
Yea I can I’ll upload it onto my social media over the next few weeks

Thank you 😃
Thanks for the tips, I noticed a few errors I was making. Also, why ST handle over flared?
eBaTT I think I’m going to give it a try actually, do you have sqst or rst? Also, good luck to you and your family battling this Corona pandemic.
Super
Thank you 🙏
I also let loose of the three fingers while doing a normal pendulum due to increased wrist movement.
