Anywhere you can get pizza and good coffee. Sounds like a great place to me. When you show the price of your meal, it’s always very reasonable especially compared to combo meals at fast food places in the USA. And absolutely has a lot more character in flavor! Much better than a big Mac. L O L.
Oh absolutely, if you compare any prices in Egypt to another country like the U.S. or some European countries, things will seem cheap. Whether that's accommodation, transportation, food, etc., it's all much cheaper. But for Egypt, this is an expensive hawawshi. But yeah much better than crappy junk food McDonalds lol
@ I finally found a place where I can get Shawarma less than half an hour from my house. It’s probably more like USA prices, but I really want some Shawarma. That will be my lunch on Monday. It doesn’t even have to be Great Shawarma as long as it’s Shawarma. I have never typed the word Shawarma so many timesin a day.
I've been to this place, its the best Hawawshi in Egypt and probably the world. I wish you got to try the rice pudding shop next to that butcher, again it's the best rice pudding in Egypt, you were standing in front of it at the end of your video, if you still in Alex and able to go back order it with nuts and vanilla ice cream on top.
Legend has it that at the coffee shop that you were eating at "Farouk Cafe", the old king Farouk used to come in every morning in disguise, take his favorite morning coffee, leave an Egyptian Pound that was made of gold -1 EGP made of gold cost less than a normal 1 EGP, and 1 normal EGP was a fortune back then anyway- then leave without saying a word. They say he did this for years till they discovered it was him so they named the Cafe after him.
Hmm. I haven't heard that tale. But Farouk Cafe is next door to where I was, actually. I did stop by there and have a coffee 😁 Another legend I have heard about the cafe: The Greek woman who started that cafe (by the name of Mary Panayoti) ran out into the street when King Farouk's motorcade procession was passing nearby. She asked him to visit her cafe, which caused quite a scene, but he actually agreed, and ever since then the name of the cafe has been Farouk
I know, that's why the title is "Hawashi WHAT?!" and the thumbnail says "Hawawshi pizza?!🤨" and in the video I say "it's unique and unusual to make this pizza style." Here's an older video I made about original or classic hawawshi (also there's a really talented guy I met who sings in this video!) th-cam.com/video/dx8rBo2xZCo/w-d-xo.html
Please take good care while riding your bike I am afraid of motorcycles. May I recommend some places in Alex - Delices patisserie in Raml station - Meshmeah BBQ in Schutz station - finally sea food in Greek club (expensive)
Thanks for the recommendations! I've stopped by Delices already, I am just working on editing that video. I will take note of the other two and if I have time, I will try them too. Thanks again! ❤️🙏
Gigi welcome. to Alexandria Maria And its soil is saffron. This is the logo of Alexandria Because Maria is one of the wives of the Prophet Mohamad. She lived in Alexandria.❤😂
You know, I gotta tell you, hawawshee is not one of my favorites at all. Never liked it. When the guy suggested suggo' I figured okay.. let's see this!! But, I have to admit it looked very good in pizza style!! And the fact that it was piping hot was even better, LOL. I thought you might have gotten a little jibbed for the amount of meat but I took that back. Alexandria really is different and the proximity to the sea is definitely taken for granted. Distant relative has a place on the 10th floor somewhere overlooking the sea and it really is something else. Thank you for the wonderful video and your kindness!! Safe travels sailor.
You don't like hawashi?! Oh man, I love hawashi. But I do prefer the regular hawashi, actually. The pizza one was unusual and very good too, but I think I'll stick to the classic in the future. This place also apparently has very good meats, I was told the tarb was very good here, but I only had room for hawawshi (this time). Alexandria certainly is beautiful, I love love love the sea. Before this trip, the last time I was in Alexandria was almost 2 years ago! I realized I need to come here more often, because it's not that far and it's so much fun. Thanks Mozedition! 🙏❤️
@Gventures oh yeah, I forgot to mention the tarb, lol. Only got to like that as I grew older. The notion of a fat wrapping was just not the the meat rotation by any means!! Then they did get better at it by adding spices and charring it and making it crispy. 😂😂🎉. By the way, Alexandria used to be a three hour venture. And three hours not because of distance mind you, because of all the stop and go. It was grueling! Looks like it has gotten better. Or a motorcycle does the trick? 😂. Be safe.
@@mozedition3339 Yeah I dunno, my first time having tarb was only when I came to Egypt 3 years ago, but it certainly is delicious. What do you mean "Alexandria used to be a three hour venture"? From Cairo? I know the bus takes around 3-4 hours to get to Alexandria from Cairo. The motorcycle took me 4 hours, but it's not an extremely fast motorcycle, and I like to take breaks. Very little traffic on the way up though, just when leaving Cairo and then again when entering Alexandria.
@@Gventures yeah, it was about an hour to get out of Cairo and then 2 hours if you took the desert road vs the agricultural road. The highway was quick but by the time you got to the highway it was exhausting. And then another hour after you hit Alex to get somewhere. Always crowded. However, bright side, many years later, it seems from your videos and others on TH-cam, traffic has gotten a little bit better. I think traffic has gotten a little bit better because a lot more, totally encompassing, cities have popped up and the need to travel for work, services and play has decreased dramatically. Did you make a video about the new Capital?
@@mozedition3339 Oh the Agricultural Road, man that road is not good 😆 I rode it to Alexandria on my first ever road trip on motorcycle and it took me FOREVER 🤣I have filmed the New Capital, yes. th-cam.com/video/KI2obVHQHKY/w-d-xo.html
Hwawshi is mainly egyption innovation (There is family in egypt her name is hwawshi ,,and they are the first who innovated it it egypt ,,and it was simple that time ,,no cheese etc ,,those family was butchers mainly & they were thinking for a non expensive meat meal for those poor who cant afford money to buy pure meat (unlike america & west ,,west everyone prefere the manufactured meat) ,,
@Gventures why dont you use kilometer instead of miles ,,Celsius instead of Fahrenheit ,,kg instead of LB ,,,why dont you educate us ? (Culture exchanging)
I have an international driver's permit, so I am legal. But I didn't rent it, I bought it in Cairo, as I live there. I'm on a road trip driving to the Siwa Oasis, and Alexandria is just the first stop th-cam.com/video/z-wGz5PPUVk/w-d-xo.html
Alexandra food is far tasty than any city in Egypt , and people in Alexandria is nicer and Alexandria Hawashi is completely different recipes than Cairo and more tasty in Alexandria they bake the dove with meat and it isn’t ready bread filled with meat .

Because I'm not politically active, and because I think tons of companies and governments do f-ed up things, but I still visit those countries or eat/drink companies foods. I just go where I want and eat/drink what I like
@@Gventures Appreciate you taking the time to answer, but I'd honestly appreciate it even more if you took the time to read this comment too. See, I very much respect your stance; but identifying as being "not politically active" is kind of just a way to ignore what's going on .. one way or another, you do participate in politics. Simply because you live on the grid, go on stats, feed off the system (which we all do) means you do play a role one way or another. I hate to be this guy, never honestly thought I'd have such stance, but it is true! You do participate in politics, you just never know. Plus, I get it that you obviously vote? So identifying as "politically not active" while being a voter yourself (thus, your voice matters in politics and does affect it) .. is kind of off to me, and doesn't seem right. I take it you're a very genuine person, I hope one day you change your stance. There's no black and white, true, but you can't say everything's grey, sometimes there is black and white. We either exist, or we don't. You're either GVentures, or you're not. Anywho, appreciate you taking the time to go through this comment!
@@drmowafy Okay, I appreciate your stance, but what I do is my own choice, and it's (respectfully) none of your business. I also don't really care what is a "turn off" for you. And FYI, I don't vote. You can be upset about that if you want, but that is also my business, not yours. "You're either GVentures, or you're not." That makes no sense. Maybe to you, in your head, it does. But I am who I am (Gisselle - my channel is just Gventures), and the person I am doesn't care about voting or politics. You don't have to agree, but you shouldn't try to convince me to share your beliefs. On the same coin, if I disagree with a country's policies, laws or government, but am traveling there or living there, then I suppose I am supporting that government. Does that mean I shouldn't live or travel in those countries, either?
@@Gventures Please do agree with me that text can be misinterpreted without any facial expressions, body language or tone involved. So there's no need for you to feel like I'm personally attacking you by any means, I'm simply having a discussion with someone I do appreciate, follow and love his journeys in my own country. I also see we both had our own false assumptions, I assumed that you vote .. you assumed that I am being aggressive or whatever - which is not true, that I do apologize for on my part. Regardless though, I still believe even if you're not a voter, you still participate in politics one way or another, again .. as long as you're "on the grid" you do participate somehow .. your videos definitely do participate in politics? (one way or another, even if you don't see it/know it) - and I hope one day you can realize that, or that I have the words to describe it for you from my own point of view. The way you describe Egypt, what you choose to portray and to hide on your channel (not assuming that you hide any, I am just saying ..) definitely does affect "politics" again, one way or another. When I adressed you as "GVentures" It's because that's your username, I was simply stating the fact that you can only be who you are, you can't be Khaled and Ahmed at the same time, Mariam and Amy; that's all haha. I don't quite understand why that came across wrong. And as for the "turn off" .. I never used that term, I just said that sounds OFF to me,; sounds weird, not that it turns me off .. I'd never use such language with someone I know let alone someone I never met and is commenting online haha. To answer your last question frankly, the answer's ofcourse not. Being present in a country with X's government, doesn't mean you support that government perse, but It all depends on your stance and your actions. For me, that you choose to simply not boycott (solely for the reason of not being politically active) is just off to me, I'd understand it better if you said that I feel like boycotting doesn't help anyone, but for you to just take a step back away from it all and think that by doing that somehow you're not participating, is just wrong to me; because we both know that these products do support certain regimes/governments, and they publicly stated it. So how come you pay them and simply say you're not politically active? That's all I wish to understand. Stay safe on your trip.
@@drmowafy Your messages are very long. It takes a good portion of my time to read and respond to it, when I have so many other messages. I don't like to have to explain myself in such great detail. I know I don't need to, and I could simply just ignore your comment, but I am inclined to respond not only because I disagree with what you are saying, but I try to respond to all of my subscribers. But it would be nice if you were more thoughtful or considerate to the fact that I have dozens and dozens of comments to reply to every day, not to mention the comments on other social platforms I post to and the direct messages I receive. That is just interacting with my viewers. Then I have an actual job of teaching English. After teaching, I then have the work to do of having a TH-cam channel, where I spend all my free time filming, editing, recording voiceovers, making thumbnails, researching information for videos, etc. etc. And it would be nice to actually just have some time to relax and watch a video or read a book instead of taking the time to write this. I am not looking to have lengthy discussions in the comment section of my channel. Yes, I do enjoy interacting with my viewers, I enjoy reading short comments or even a long one on the occasion, I enjoy the recommendations and hearing feedback. But just because I make videos about travel and Egypt and post them online does not mean I am waiting in a chair for a line of people who watch my videos to come up to me (metaphorically speaking, of course) and ask about my religious beliefs, my political stance, to analyze or question me in this way. I am not inviting you or anyone else to analyze me decisions or pick my brain or have a discussion about why you or I disagree with personal life choices. We are not friends, we are not discussing this over a cup of coffee in person, you are simply a comment I read on the internet on my channel. And I am not trying to be rude, but that is the honest truth. I hope you can see the difference here. Now on to what you have said, I will address this once and only briefly because again, I am short on time and am responding to you in between my job of teaching English lessons. Of course, I agree people are involved in politics in some way or another, whether they intend to or not. I am passively involved in politics, because, in this day in age, it is quite literally impossible not to be. This is not a new realization for me, I know that and agree with you on that. But I am not actively involved in the way that I am, as an example, not boycotting coke products. I don't hide anything on my channel, I speak from my perspective and my experiences about things I enjoy or want to show people because I find it interesting or think it will prove useful to people. That is it. I see I misread the "turn off" when you actually wrote "sounds off." My mistake. I have had people comment that I am supporting a dictatorship and other such comments simply because I am living in Egypt and they disagree with many things the government does. So yeah, it all depends on someone's perspective. Going back to (again) my response as to why I am not boycotting - I simply wrote a quick response. If you were actually a friend and we were discussing this in great detail, I would take the time to explain in more detail and my response would have been more accurate. But I did not take the time to write a perfectly worded response because I don't have the time for this. Sure, let's just say that I don't feel that boycotting a massive company like coke is going to have any impact on the situation. But if you believe it does, and that I should boycott them because of their stance on the war, let me ask you, do you use an iphone, do you use a samsung phone? Because the way these products are made are many times in terrible conditions in developing countries. If you use either, you are supporting these companies and therefore supporting terrible working conditions for people less fortunate than you. Do you eat meat in the U.S.? Because then you are supporting factory farms. I just just throwing around examples, but that list can go on and on. My point is, it's not your place to judge or question me. You can choose to believe whatever you want about me, but in the end, (respectfully) it's none of your business. I have to go to work now. Take care.

Oh yes, I love kebda! I've been recommended a famous place in Alexandria (كبدة أولاد الفلاح) and plan to film there on my way back from Siwa
GOD! How I miss Hawawashyyyyyyyy.. Thank you Gigi for the video. Enjoy your time in Alexandria . You gotta Try Kebda Al FAlah (Liver) It is close to where you are
Yes I've been told to try that! I plan to on my return journey, thank you! 😊❤️🙏
Try Basturma, it is Egyptian cured Beef which is eaten with eggs.
And try basturma inside the eastern pie also with vegetables and cheese it name
فطير شرقي بالبسطرمة
There many dishes have basturma better than basturma with eggs
but basturma with eggs is 10/10 also
Hey Gigi, what do you know about the medical and insurance scene in Egypt? Have you spoken about this at all? Saleem🌺
Haven't spoken about it much because it's not a topic that seems fun to research or make a video about. But I made one that sort of touched on the subject when I crashed my motorcycle and had to go get stitches th-cam.com/video/-w8cGE1fYy8/w-d-xo.html
I’d be interested is seeing a grocery store. Maybe you’ve done a video of that before. I’m slowly catching up on all your videos.
It's difficult to film in certain places, like grocery stores or malls. I always get told I can't film. Here are 2 attempts (they're both older videos):

@ Oh nice. THANKS! :)
@@BobBaader 😆

@Gventures Ahhh! The amount of stuff we Alexandrians make up! Probably none of em is true hahah

I need a Hawash soon 🎉😊
The name of place is mohamed hamed high quality place
You live in alex as its your city❤
Keep it up , All support from Eire
Thank you!
Original Hawaushi is made from Egyptian crispy bread full filled with mince fatty meat and lot of spices❤🎉
I am from Alexandria. I wanted to welcome you before you return to Cairo
Ah, I'm sorry but I won't have time. I've had quite a few offers from people but I am on a pretty tight schedule. Thank you though 🙏
I hope to meet you later. Good, I watch you constantly

Please take good care while riding your bike
I am afraid of motorcycles.
May I recommend some places in Alex
- Delices patisserie in Raml station
- Meshmeah BBQ in Schutz station
- finally sea food in Greek club (expensive)
Thanks for the recommendations! I've stopped by Delices already, I am just working on editing that video. I will take note of the other two and if I have time, I will try them too. Thanks again! ❤️🙏

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know that
You entered Alexandria, please visit Damietta. It is close, 2 to 3 hours away.
I won't be heading that way, as I am going west after Alex. But I plan to visit Damietta in the future 😊

Yes, Cafe Farouk! I stopped by there and filmed, but didn't include it in the video, as it was very brief and I wasn't allowed to film inside
Awesome
Hwawshi is mainly egyption innovation
(There is family in egypt her name is hwawshi ,,and they are the first who innovated it it egypt ,,and it was simple that time ,,no cheese etc ,,those family was butchers mainly & they were thinking for a non expensive meat meal for those poor who cant afford money to buy pure meat (unlike america & west ,,west everyone prefere the manufactured meat) ,,

I wonder if you had to provide a driver license to rent the bike?
I have an international driver's permit, so I am legal. But I didn't rent it, I bought it in Cairo, as I live there. I'm on a road trip driving to the Siwa Oasis, and Alexandria is just the first stop th-cam.com/video/z-wGz5PPUVk/w-d-xo.html

Alexandra food is far tasty than any city in Egypt , and people in Alexandria is nicer and Alexandria Hawashi is completely different recipes than Cairo and more tasty in Alexandria they bake the dove with meat and it isn’t ready bread filled with meat .

I'm good, thanks
Hey Gigi, just curious, why don't you boycott?
"You're either GVentures, or you're not."
That makes no sense.
Take care.
