This is my favourite places in Alexandria! As a tourist I would come here after walking an hour along the sea and sit at their seating outside and order tea and a dessert. Best desserts I had in my life! Their food is excellent!
@Gventures I hope to travel from the UK next year. It is my perfered Mediterranean destination now. As Italy and Greece have overtourism issues and extremely high cost of hotels and restaurants. Alexandria is the place to get Egyptian and European vibes in one city.
While working at Patisserie Délices from 1968 to 1989, I saw and used most of these objects in Mini antique museum while downstairs or upstairs in the accounting department next to Me. Moustakas, the son of the original owner of Patisserie Délices.
I'm less than 6min into your video and I am determined to get my guide to bring us here for lunch when we visit Alexandria in December. Thank you for all your wonderful videos!
It is REALLY delicious. There's an abundance of amazing food in Alexandria, and so hard to choose where to eat, because I want to go everywhere! 😅 But I can say, in my 3 years of living in Egypt, this is hands down the best patisserie I have been to. They are really so good.
In my 10 days trip to Egypt...I have been to Cairo,Luxor,Aswan and Alexandria....have visited the ancient places that tourist generally visit in these places.....but what I liked most are the people, specially in Cairo, after every 3 minutes, u can hear people calling..hey India..r u from India....

That place looks incredible! It looks like the kind of place that you can smell before you walk in. I bet if you had one different thing every day in the morning with your coffee, it would probably take a couple of years to have had one of everything. To be around for over a century means they must be really good at what they do! They would probably have to wheel me out of there as I’m snoring from my sugar coma. Thank you for sharing.

@@BobBaader I was stuffed! So stuffed I forgot to order my apricot tart before I left. I found the little paper order in my pocket when I got back to my hostel and remembered. I didn't need it anyway 😅No chocolate euphoria, but definitely a sugar rush. That bubbly tart was packed with sugar

They are a very old sweet Shop at Zamalek Ireland called Simonds, it has been around since 1889, and also Maison Thomas pizza Shop since 1922, please try both, they are excellent, the quality is great, is a must try.@@Gventures

@@Gventures there used to be another great restaurant called Osso Buco near Chez Gaby, I don’t know if it’s still around. I tried to look it up online but no trace of it ever existing. It’s been a long time… I grew up in Alexandria but haven’t been back in 25 years. Miss it every day. Ask around if it’s still open. It’s worth a visit but go with your boyfriend and make a date out of it :)

Oh yeah of course, but I wouldn't recommend comparing prices from the U.S. to Egypt, that doesn't accurately reflect the reality of life here. I mean, for a tourist coming to visit from the U.S., sure everything is cheap to them. But of course, for people living here and for most Egyptians, things are not cheap. Wages are much lower, and, in fact, there has been inflation and devaluation of the currency, which has greatly impacted the economy and people here.
120 years ago Alexandria was a true cosmopolitan city. Its cotton stock exchange was the fifth largest in the world by market value. The city hosted one of the early cinema movies only 2 years after it was premiered in france. The city hosted a good number of Armenian refugees after the ottoman massacre. Unfortunately, its fortune was lost after the coup / revolution of 1952 which was hostile to foreigners and free market in general. The city still has glimpse of its glory past but may never regain its full past glory anytime soon

@Gventures No, I don't mean to go on a tour, I mean for personal transportation use, to get around, can you rent an ATV. When you were trying out the hotels in giza you came across a place that looked like a ATV rental shop.
@@shiningforce9033 Oh, no you can't rent an ATV just for personal use, those are just for the tours around the pyramids and deserts and such. There are ATV rentals around Egypt, but it's always for tours and excursions, you can't rent them as a vehicle to ride around the city with.
@@shiningforce9033 No, I have asked around at many places and never found a rental in Cairo. Or anywhere else in Egypt, that I know of. But you can search and see if you can find one. If you do, let me know, because many people ask me this and I have never found a rental in Cairo. It seems most foreigners do not want to drive here because of the chaotic traffic.

@@Gventures there used to be another great restaurant called Osso Buco near Chez Gaby, I don’t know if it’s still around. I tried to look it up online but no trace of it ever existing. It’s been a long time… I grew up in Alexandria but haven’t been back in 25 years. Miss it every day. Ask around if it’s still open. It’s worth a visit but go with your boyfriend and make a date out of it :)

Oh yeah of course, but I wouldn't recommend comparing prices from the U.S. to Egypt, that doesn't accurately reflect the reality of life here. I mean, for a tourist coming to visit from the U.S., sure everything is cheap to them. But of course, for people living here and for most Egyptians, things are not cheap. Wages are much lower, and, in fact, there has been inflation and devaluation of the currency, which has greatly impacted the economy and people here.
120 years ago Alexandria was a true cosmopolitan city. Its cotton stock exchange was the fifth largest in the world by market value. The city hosted one of the early cinema movies only 2 years after it was premiered in france. The city hosted a good number of Armenian refugees after the ottoman massacre. Unfortunately, its fortune was lost after the coup / revolution of 1952 which was hostile to foreigners and free market in general. The city still has glimpse of its glory past but may never regain its full past glory anytime soon

@Gventures No, I don't mean to go on a tour, I mean for personal transportation use, to get around, can you rent an ATV. When you were trying out the hotels in giza you came across a place that looked like a ATV rental shop.
@@shiningforce9033 Oh, no you can't rent an ATV just for personal use, those are just for the tours around the pyramids and deserts and such. There are ATV rentals around Egypt, but it's always for tours and excursions, you can't rent them as a vehicle to ride around the city with.
@Gventures OK but what about renting motorcycles/scooters. I've seen that you purchased a nice one. If you can buy a motorcycle then you can rent one?
@@shiningforce9033 No, I have asked around at many places and never found a rental in Cairo. Or anywhere else in Egypt, that I know of. But you can search and see if you can find one. If you do, let me know, because many people ask me this and I have never found a rental in Cairo. It seems most foreigners do not want to drive here because of the chaotic traffic.
