- ◼︎I went to the Beautiful Alexandria in Egypt, and while there, I was told that I could only find Authentic and Original Hawawshi there. I gave it a try and as other Egyptian meals, this was delicious!

I've been in Alexandria 2015 and I loved the food expecially falafel the Bestiest ever the sea food my goodness 😋 😋 i would love to go again and eat falafel...

This is the original Alexandrian Hawawshi idk what the girl was thinking when she said it's not authentic lol there is a big difference between Cairo Hawawshi where they use baladi bread and Alexandrian Hawawshi where they use fresh dough, and the chickpeas salad is hummus salad, kinda similar to the Sabra chickpeas that we have here in the states at Walmart. long live Zamalek.

she meant the traditional one. it is match smaller bc they use the traditional Egyptian bread and there is no cheese in it

Actually that’s the original “Hawawshi”, called in Alexandria “Eish belahma”, but without the cheese and tomatoes. It is made with made with dough and raw meat and baked together.
There also other variants with sausage or pastrami with cheese.
The Cairo “Hawawshi” version is the fast food take on it, made with already baked bread and cooked meat, and is significantly worse than the original Alexandrian “Eish belahma”!

actually this is no hwawshy, in alexandria they call it meat loaf :D rgheef lahma. in cairo they make another meat loaf another way and this one is the one called hwawshy :D
