Metmask is one of the dozen or so applications you can use to access decentralized applications, decentralized websites, and other decentralized protocols built on cryptocurrency blockchains
Metamask was founded by Consensys developer Aaron Davis in 2015. Consensys is an American blockchain technology company based in Switzerland which builds infrastructure for Ethereum
💻Setting up Metamask💻
The first step to using Metamask is to download the browser extension. The best way to do this is through the Metamask website. Make sure you have the correct URL or you could get scammed
After creating a password and checking off the terms and conditions, you will be able to create a wallet. Make sure to write down your wallet seed and never show those words to anyone, not even mum!
💱Adding ETH to Metamask💱
Before you can use Metamask swap or any other decentralized application, you’re going to need some Ethereum. This is because Ethereum is used to pay for all transaction fees on the Ethereum network
You can either transfer Ethereum from another wallet address, buy Ethereum using Wyre in the Metamask app, or buy it elsewhere and have it sent to your Metamask wallet
👩💻Using dApps with Metamask👩💻
Most dApps require you to give them permission before accessing your wallet. Once you’ve given them permission, you’ll be able to interact with them
Before you confirm any transactions in dApps using Metamask, take note of the advanced options when it comes to gas fees. If they are incorrect, you could be overpaying or your transaction could fail
💸Sending a transaction with Metamask💸
If there are any Ethereum addresses that you will be transferring to regularly using Metamask, you can add them to your contacts list. This will protect against accidentally transferring to the wrong address
When you send a transaction, you’ll be given three different transaction speeds to choose from. Remember to click on the advanced options to make sure you’re not overpaying on gas
Once you’ve sent the transaction, it will show up under the ‘Activity’ tab on the main Metamask page. This is where you can cancel an incorrect transaction or speed up a slow transaction
⛓Metamask Binance Smart Chain set up⛓
To add support for the Binance Smart Chain, open up the Metamask wallet and click on the top where it says ‘Ethereum main net’
You’ll be given a list of test nets used by Ethereum developers. At the bottom of this list you’ll see an option to add a custom network
This is where you need to enter all the information about the Binance Smart Chain, which can be found using the link in the useful links section of the description
This will look a bit wonky since you’ll still see the Ethereum icon in the wallet, so make sure to double check you’re on the right network when switching between Ethereum and the BSC
🍰Using Metamask with the BSC🍰
Not all of the dApps on the Binance Smart Chain support the Binance Chain wallet, yet all of them seem to support Metamask, most notably the Venus dApp
Unfortunately, the Metamask wallet does not have a record of any Binance Smart Chain assets. You have to use BSCscan to find their contract addresses and add them manually in Metamask

Thank you for this content. One improvement feedback - as a beginner I followed all steps, and bought ETH through Wire, then it was not showing up in my account. Took me a while to understand how to "fix" it. I needed to change back the privacy setting from "when you click the extension" to "on all sites"
Faced the exact same problem and a lot of reddit and metamask community posts were hinting towards an issue with bank tx not confirmed with Wyre, but turns out it was this minor setting change. Did you manage to send any other Eth tokens to metamask? I can only see the ETH wallet address instead of specific token address.

FYI, I noticed an issue in Metamask where ETH deposited into Metamask does not show in the balance, even though it does show on Activity and can be seen in Etherscan. A quick bit of Googling pointed to a Reddit thread, where it turns out this issue happens if you set the Chrome extension setting "This can read and change site data" to "When you click the extension", rather than the default of "On all sites." I changed the setting back to that, and my balance appeared straight away.

I setup my metamask wallet and used Wyre to buy some ETH, the tx was successful immediately showing success on Wyre and ETH Scan but metamask was not showing any ETH balance, bank transaction was pending so i was almost sure it was something to do between my bank and Wyre, turns out this minor change in the setting was the culprit, i can now see the balance and activity details on my metamask wallet. Thanks again :)

Hello Guy! Great tutorial but I think you missed one crucial option there. You actually CAN hook up your Ledger cold wallet to create a secure wallet managed by Metamask. Given you are all about security in your videos I wonder why you did not mention that. I hope you will cover it in next video as a lot of your viewers could benefit from it! I've been using Metamask for several months but I still learned some useful things here. Oh, and thank you for not saying "smash" the like button. That is so cliche haha.
Just wondering how long it would normally take for my transaction to finish? They are currently reading as queued and/or pending and have been for 2+ hours now...
So, is it possible to use Uniswap via Binance Smart Chain in Metamask, and thus avoid ridiculous Ethereum gas fees?
I've used metamask before but how does it compare to Gridlock wallet?
it's only taken me 4 months in wrestling with the crypto and Alts world to discover this training video (which I just noticed I couldn't have found before 3/6/21 anyway--no wonder!). It is literally the first time I have actually understood and had access to the actual steps for ANY of the various components and aggregators mentioned in the video. This despite the more than multiple interactions and videos I've endured with little more than increased confusion and frustration on each occasion. So briefly, thank you SO MUCH for this invaluably clear and useable training. Couldn't recommend it more highly to others. I'm definitely headed for your other training videos for more!

Guy, you make me feel at home... many blessings for that... my mother used to leave messages in rimes on the fridge magnets and my brother loved doing it too, I was not especially good at it, the truth but I loved it; she even would buy small gifs for my bday and make me guess with rimes where each one was... it was the highlight of my b'days for sure... My fault completely, Guy. I accept this. I am sure I missed it, but maybe mention the gas prices before transferring ETH into Metamask. I followed the steps. When my ETH got to Metamask, the $100 turned into $66, now to get it out is another $31. Just a quick mention before the first step would be greatly appreciated for us newbies. I would have never tried it, instead bought 50 more shares of ADA. But really love the videos, you seem to be someone who cares and respects the future value of this crypto transition. Hi, you break down the info well... but since you value your privacy, could you create a detail video and tell us a quick breakdown on what's the best way to buy crypto with non-kyc applications and the best way to keep safe and private while using them. With apps getting hacked and more likely in the future as your account grows it would be good to research more in to non-kyc services and platforms as its not the lost of crypto but other info needed to get your assets. But Guy, you can connect your hardware wallets, Ledger or Trezor, directly to Metamask as well. Of course you don't have to give out your private key. Try that out.

This is something I have been avoiding because the whole Defi wallet, and sending coins and paying gas fees thing confuses the hell out of me. But the reality is, I gotta do it. So... lets figure it out. oh, btw, thank you Guy!

Guy, a single Eth gas fee is a months wage for half the world - that's not scalable, 90% of crypto investors have just a few hundreds or a few grand, they wont be paying to pump any defi this year. Appreciate the metamask tut but its not ideally timed - Eth is not seen as cool or a good investment by the people bringing the pump so Metamask is not exactly anybody's priority. Anyway, much love to you man, you do a great job.
Is there any alternatives to meta mask. Will they eventually move their platform away from ethereum
layer 2 scaling solutions are in the pipeline to solve this.

HEADS UP: I followed this tutorial exactly. The Wyre transaction shows completed but nothing has shown up in my Metamask account after 20 hours.
Try adding whatever you sent to your wallet in the custom token / coin box

Hi, I have something similar: eth funds thru wyre completed, but balance is zero. Tired adding eth tokens but i can't find eth contract address. Can you please help?
@@andresfeliperuiz2573 I fixed my issue by uninstalling Metamask, then installing it again and putting in the seed phrase. Try that. Also found out later it happens when you don't grant those permissions while installing (mischief fixed part of the video lol) metamask.

Great information learned today about metamask
After watching this video I think I begin to understand why the coming saitamask seems to be a big deal. I hope it will have less absurd gas fees. And less risk of loosing your currency if you do something wrong when setting up your transfer. For now I keep my little crypto capital on exchanges instead of getting my own wallet.
