And then they tried to make every character do flippant humor 🙄
That moment changed his entire life
This guy has a lot of potential I think he can become an amazing actor ! 🎉
would be interesting to watch other actors for this role
the last test was probably the reason he got the role, that was amazing
Marvel please consider this man as the role for IRON MAN. Thank you🙏

iron man is dead bruh
You're 16 years late, bro...
guys its a joke and it is funny
this means so much to me, rdj always been a huge role model and motivation for me for years.
mans giving an audition like they're filming on a million bucks worth of film stock, giving it full effort. he's one of the greatest of our time.
For a person who had lost so much and this was his chance for a comeback, you can hear the nervousness in his voice.
But ofcourse as you get into the character more and more and learn and practice being that character, confidence automatically showd up and he owned that role like it was meant to be.
RDJ made Iron Man and will always be the best Iron Man.
the only one
4:42 ... doesnt blink at all for a while... he is in the ZONE .. nice job
Bros life was LITTERALY on the line
Those other actors are very good too! I always find it so interesting to watch these auditions...
RDJ is one of the greatest actors of our generation. I loved his characters all the way back to 1985's "Weird Science".
Wow, it’s like he’s not even auditioning but instead already filming. The eye contact, the mannerisms, it’s like he already knows how the movie plays out. RDJ did incredible for this role.
Good for him.. and us, cant imagine a better Stark. He would never be hired by Disney due to his past, if they owned Marvel at that time.
We're so accustomed to seeing pure greatness from the Tony Stark character that we take for granted just how far RDJ has come. Such an absolute gold find.
even though he had to audition we all know they were gonna give it to him anyway.
No the director of Iron Man 1, Jon Favreau had to beg and plead with Marvel for RDJ to even be considered for the role.
@@ohtrueyeahnahwhy? Did they not want to hire him
because of the jail time??
@@thesilverblader6714 Yeah he was on Hollywoods blacklist at the time. The only acting gigs he could get were from friends
@@ohtrueyeahnah I’m not sure about that he still had a steady career after the jail time just not in very high profile movies but they all made splashed. Zodiac, scanner darkly, kiss kiss bang bang?(I think was after jail?) etc. if he was blacklisted then damn does he have some good friends and directors. Singing detective was made because of Mel Gibsons help paying out his bail bond apparently and the rest is history. His real comeback was iron man and tropic thunder but still got work.
@@Calypso694 yeah true
This is how the legend began
I don't think anyone in the world who can play Tony stark aka iron man better than him because he has that passion and enthusiasm for playing this character ( I can see it in his eyes )
dang that last one was so good.
You can say that again.
He is legit soo good man.i swear
this RDJ guy is good, I think they should cast him as Tony Stark.
Full control of his acting instrument. Every tiny head move and twitch of his mouth serves the character and the line he's saying. Notice in the "confrontation" scene how long he's able to go without blinking his eyes. There's a reason this dude won an Oscar.
It's a miracle, a guy showing only one emotion throughout the whole decade, and still making people admire him is out of this world. One in generational actor!!
I’m convinced they just had him walk in and talk to random casting directors
I wish iron man will release soon
It’s nice to know that Marvel got a chance to audition for Robert Downey Jr
How can finally see his Tropic Thunder character in the making! I could never picture it before this video!
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian….
I had that same mindset when the announcement came a few weeks back! It’s gotta be good with the Russo Bros in charge
I love this man, he is amazingly talented and so strong ❤
He was so natural. The one and only.
Now an Oscar award winner! That’s the Marvel GOAT right there!
👏🏼👏🏼 Nice playing mate !
Literally born to play the role.
This is amazing to witness.
3:00 that lean in, he looks like Al Pacino
bro identical, kinda freaky 😂
No lies told. Exactly like Al
He should have played Michael Corleone
The lady here killed it too 🔥
The lady is Sasha Alexander and she did a better job than he did. Thankfully the later auditions were better
Robert's most known role is a really cool superhero but this video shows that he is such a brillant actor, one of the greats of our time!
These would've made great scenes in "Iron Man." ❤
I was always worried about Robert Downey Jr. playing Iron Man before I went into the first movie. I’ve watched Robert his whole career but when I walked out of that first Iron Man, you couldn’t of picked anyone else there is no one else forever. Who’s gonna play Iron Man except Robert Downey Jr.
This movie basically launched an entire franchise, in no small part because Robert ad-libbed he was Iron Man at the end of the movie which wasn't in the script.
couldn't have*
