  • in this video {829} what is flyback converter topology in switch mode power supply smps, i explained what is isolated flyback converter and how it works. in Flyback Converter topology (FBT), it is a transformer isolated converter based on the basic concept of buck boost topology. In a flyback converter, a semiconductor switch is connected in series with the transformer primary winding. The transformer is used to store the energy during the ON period of the switch, and also provides isolation between primary and secondary side. in normal operation, when the switch is ON for a period of TON, current flows in primary winding and creates magnetic field, but due to reverse direction of secondary winding, the output diode becomes reverse-biased and the transformer behaves as an inductor. The value of this inductor is equal to the transformer primary magnetizing inductance LM, and the stored magnetizing energy from the input voltage source VIN. Therefore, the current in the primary transformer (magnetizing current IM) rises linearly from its initial value to peak primary current. As the output diode becomes reverse-biased, the load current is supplied from the output capacitor. The output capacitor value should be large enough to supply the load current for the time period TON, with the maximum specified drop in the output voltage. At the end of the TON period, when the switch is turned OFF, the transformer magnetizing current continues to flow in the same direction. The magnetizing current induces negative voltage in the dot end of the transformer winding with respect to non-dot end. The diode D1 becomes forward-biased and clamps the transformer secondary voltage equal to the output voltage. The energy stored in the primary of the flyback transformer transfers to secondary through the flyback action. This stored energy provides energy to the load, and charges the output capacitor. Since the magnetizing current in the transformer cannot change instantaneously at the instant the switch is turned OFF, the primary current transfers to the secondary, and the amplitude of the secondary current will be the product of the primary current and the transformer turns ratio,

    Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! It really helped to clear up some misconceptions I had about how a fly back converter works. I love all the videos you have devoted to talking about SMPS, as it has greatly increased my understanding of how they work and how to troubleshoot. All the best to you and take care!

    Excellent. So, I can understand why one might use a flyback, when the supply source is already DC (portable battery device) and the circuit requires AC. What are the circumstances where an AC supply is rectified to DC and a flyback is used to change it back to AC, as in your example? What are the advantages of doing so? Please and thank you.

    I wound a transformer for my 12V to 300V flyback but I wound the primary and secondary in the same direction.
    The start of the primary winding is connected to the 12V input. On the secondary side the start of winding is connected to ground.
    It seems to work fine but is this wrong?

    • @HaseebElectronics
      @HaseebElectronics  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes it is also good. actually it needs keep secondary, during conduction of the switching device.

    Issue is, schottky diode UF5408 is getting heated upto 85°C & checked on oscilloscope the actual frequency is 39kHz (at MOSFET gate, +duty is 15% & -duty is 85%, where as at transformr output +duty is 60% & -duty is 40% )
    What must be the problem.??

    herşey gibi enerjide (sinyal) üç boyutlu ortamda gerçekleşmektedir! bu yüzden anlatım da üç boyuta uygun bir şekilde yapılmalıdır. yani insan, beyninde üç boyutlu hayal edebilirse veya hayal kurabilirse "öğrenme ve anlama" o zaman gerçekleşebilir !!! birbirimize anlatmak veya öğretmek istediğimizde, kalemle çizerek anlatım yolunu seçersek, üç boyutlu olarak gerçekleşen bir şeyi iki boyutlu olarak anlatmış oluruz ki bu da, ya anlaşılmaz yada ezberlenmiş olur. yani öğrenme tam olarak gerçekleşmez. veya öğrenme yanlış olur!
