Love it when you fibd these hidden gems in the far flung reaches of utube, its like a hidden overgrown half ignored swim with a hippo of knowledge hangin out in the snags, only those that know, know. Love your sharing of knowledge, thank you. Best boilie bait vid on net 🫡
John, I saw you video, I bought the ingredients, I followed the recipe and on my first attempt put faith in this recipe, made pop ups and bottom baits, fished a mixed carp and catfish lake where the carp are shy with a capital S and caught 5 cats from 44 lbs, 38lbs, 22lbs etc, where no one else was catching.... proof is in the pudding!! So happy with the session.. I will now be testing this recipe on a carp only water and I am telling anyone who will listen to watch your channel and “cease control” ... thanks
Hi John just wanted to say thank you really for all the info you have given it has really improved my understanding on carp baits and fishing Please keep up the hard looking forward to the next instalment
Thanks John and Will. Wow. The last time I saw what Will looked like, he was holding a small barbel with his sister on a club brochure, RMC Angling I think it was! 😂 You guys are really helping guys like me to want to take my 1st tentative steps into my river bait making. Thanks John for finding what little time you have, in answering my questions on occasions too! Love the chanel and I really value your expertise!
You really sound like your dad!! John I think I speak for a lot of home rollers and hobby business bait guys when I say I could watch your stuff for hours. When it’s safe for you to do so it would be fantastic if you could do a full Korda podcast on your own. Three hours of your bait knowledge would be an amazing listen.
I used to always make my own baits in the 70s and 80s. Back then I swear I would get more action on my own fresh bait especially in comparison to the first commercial baits, often as much as 3 times the pick ups. I was into it big time and am loving your passion an encouragement for more to get into making their own. You have also made me realise through my own experimentation that I was pretty much going it right too, from ingredients to flavour levels and boiling times. And you are right it was a big edge to have a lump of paste left you could use to other boil up more maybe super sized baits on the bank to deter Crays etc or just to wrap around the boilie or lead for added attraction. The satisfaction of catching on your own hand made bait is immense and can be a big cash saver too in this time of raging inflation. Oh yes I remember paying over 14% interest rate on my 1970s mortgage. Buckle up people the best is yet to come but at least by making your own your can still afford to go fishing…even if you have to dust off that old bike and go more local instead because of the fuel price! Lol
Enjoying these. Interesting how much (little) hydro you used. I tend to use much more: Around 10% in weight of the dry ingredients. Would love to see a video about formulating base mixes. Or one on powdered additives...
Above and beyond as usual John, and Will. Great idea about the flavour level chart, might save your fingers typing out all the emails! Still keep searching your website for the lovely aprons! 😂Keep up the great work.
Such a genuine man, thanks fo taking the time to reply to my emails. Loving the videos and thanks again for the inspiration to get me tinkering with hookbaits again 👍🏻
Great video John & Will. Now I know how to get my hands on one of those gas burners. Please keep them coming as I really get a lot out of watching them.
I've really enjoyed these films; so much knowledge and experience (and passion) packed into a few minutes. I generally don't put artificial flavours into my mixes, preferring to let my natural ingredients speak for themselves, especially in fishmeals and savoury baits... But I would DEFINITELY use John's flavours, 'cos after hearing his thought processes and the care he takes to source, I trust them.
Nice video john. I have listened to the podcast with korda. And i immediately searched for you’re channel. I’ve learned a lot from you’re podcast and you’re vision about bait en feeding fish thanks for sharing that with us i am gonna use that for my fishing in the future. Greetings from holland. 👍🏻💪🏼👌🏽
Absolutely fantastic video thanks John I’m about to make my first batch of the bio shell fish with the Alsalar and plum flavours so this was really helpful!!
Great video again,Would love to see a video about how to formulate a solid basemix recipe from scratch,I’m ok with what are classed as good ingredients but how do you decide what ones to use in fish mix,/milk/bird ect,how to decide on quantities included ect any info on this would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the good work
Hi John, very interesting videos. As a complete novice when it comes to making baits except using commercial boils to make paste, would you have a suggestion for a recipe for barbel on a very difficult river, if it helps at all the water also contains a good head of chub which as we all know will take anything aimed at the barbel. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Kevin.
Brilliant video as always, just out of interest if dried correctly and put into hookbait tubs would you recommend using a liquid bait preserver for a longer shelf life? And if yes would you add a small amount of natural sweetener to counteract any taste that may be present from the bait preserver?
Another great tip with Cork balls pop ups is to soak the Cork balls overnight it helps suck the paste into the nooks and crannies, pat dry before adding paste otherwise you'll have a slithery mess
Hi John hope I find u all well and good. I fish socked pellet in feeders for a lot of my carping as I usually just fish the margins and haveing just ordered ur bio shellfish base mix and shrimp extract I was thinking of using the mix to sprinkle bio as a sort of ground bait and add a bit of shrimp flavour to it. Any other suggestions to maybe improve the mix thank you Duke
Great John, one question regarding using your flavours in a paste bait presentation, in the guide you mention half the usual flavour levels. Would this be across the board, what if you were using a single hookbait in paste format?
Cool video again, how much extra egg albeum would I have to add to a 1 egg mix of hookbaits ,to make them crayfish/mitten crab resistance as much as possible ,thank you ,loving the videos, good health and safe travels, cheers craig
Great video. Question, say I make some hookbaits like this, I’d want to keep them in a pop-up tub, how can I prevent them going off like the pop-ups? Would I have to glue them to preserve them that way? Thanks
Another very informative video. I think you are hitting the mark by targeting home rollers with quality bait. Last years horror shows in late summer with rotting bait floating around was appalling. Less bait , better placement and high quality is the way forward. 👍
I asked the same question by email Thanks for the mail. I would say most of the MPG based flavours will be fine for at least 2+ years from date of purchase. ( EG: Plum, Crab, Milky1, TM1, Banana, and the creamy / fruity ones etc...) The ones that are oil based, such as; Ala Salar, Chicken Tikka, Roast Chicken, ASM, Sizz & Muskspice would be best used within 18months - 2 years.

@UCFPnt3dkYXFe2jbzq1rMJ9g Making a marriage last is hard work! How's single life going buddy?? I used to get pleasure from making mixes but I am lazy that way now, id rather spend my time fishing with my son who was top rod last year, I sold off all of my ancient flavours very recently on JB say so (made good money thank you very much), makes me even less likely to bother again! JB could buy machines like Solar etc have done and let his son run them, I assume he is trusted 😂 or even get staff in and build that trust so quality never dips!
@@davestone2939 I replied to a noddy so looks out of context because they retracted their comment , but here we go again! Are you thick? Most people I meet don't understand that there are spectrums of intelligence and that they sit very low down on that list! I understand good quality bait, I'm out fishing the whole lake so buying JB bait or not won't change my life, but saying that I'd happily buy if I could buy from JB ready rolled freezer bait! Do you understand that?? 👋🏻
Some great videos Mr Baker. However, I’m not sure about your explanation about carp liking to eat fruit. Yes, chub may have eaten elderberries or a plum but then chub might eat anything. It doesn’t mean they especially like it. People have tried fishing for carp with whole strawberries, blueberries etc and they don’t work other than starving stockies. Otherwise Jamie Hughes would use them rather than pellets and corn. Carp love fruit flavours but isn’t that because of the reaction to changes in PH rather than because it thinks JB Plum tastes like a real Plum? Hard to argue with a guru!
No minamino, marine amino, liquid liver and all that BS on the liquid part of the boilies...it's all that just marketing?that's first question... 2...is the base mix more important than liquid part in a boilie?i asume yes,by what you've used to make the hook baits..a good quality base mix is more important than the liquid/s that go in a boilie... Regards Tiberiu.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on air drying free offerings instead of boiling them to help with the breakdown during short sessions.
Have you tried this? I’ve never tried myself, just used paste or boilies - I’d be intrigued to know too.
@@ZoltanHercules yes I use them all the time!
