- The Minister of Works Dave Umahi has suspended work on the Eleme section of the East West road.
The minister did this during an unscheduled inspection tour of the Federal Government’s road projects in Rivers state.

Again, there are lots of research around bitumen modification and optimization . Especially using biomas. The ministry should get involved and provide funding for some of this research.

By God's grace I am a COREN Registered Engineer and I must admit that I am proud of Engr Umahi. He is doing exactly what should be done. I wonder why a registered COREN Engineer is not on a Federal Road Project! This is why the job is being done shoddily. From the video I can see that what the Contractors call Laterite is more like a material full of Clay which is bad for Road Construction.
Having a Minister for Works as a qualified registered COREN Engineer is a big advantage because work will be done professionally and to required design specifications.
I suspect that the Project Supervisors and the Contractors are conniving to cut corners. These are the reasons for road failures on pavement after a short time of work completion. May God help us in Nigeria!🙄

Shocked with the knowledge of this former governor. Nigeria is blessed, but the right people are not in government. But this Minister of Works blew me away. He knows his stuff when it comes to civil and construction engineering. I will have to visit Ebonyi state and see what he did during his tenure.
Am a Yoruba man and I like this minister since his days as governor of Ebonyii state . He performed wonderfully well.
