    Her costs are not bad at all. My mortgage with VA loan in the DMV in 2014 is $1,119 and HOA is close to $100. I have solar and my car is paid off. Water is so cheap I can pay that several months at a time. Maybe $20 a month? Not to mention $130 for car and house insurance.

Since there are a lot of us out there, you shouldn’t let your love prospects interfere with how you want to live your life! Find a woman who enjoys the lifestyle you enjoy, so you can laze on the water on a sunny Sunday morning eating fish tacos for breakfast 😉 that’s what makes a relationship

    That's less than my real-estate taxes alone! I am surprised how reasonable your marina is. My experience up the east coast was ~$3/ft per night! The west coast was 'don't ask'. Also impressed with the low 'mortgage' on your new, nicely appointed boat. You must have done well in both price and rate.
    I do have one question. You mention a trailer cost but no mention of the substantial truck it takes to pull it. How do you handle that?

    • @houseboatgirl4764
      @houseboatgirl4764  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha wow! Yes my marina is very cheap! I'm sure when I move south eventually my costs will go way up!

    • @skyak4493
      @skyak4493 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@houseboatgirl4764 Fortunately, having a 2 story box boat is super efficient when they charge by the foot. You have the living space of a 50 footer and the slip fee of a 24. You seem to be fairly self sufficient (maybe need more water tank capacity) so you could anchor out most of the time. The great thing about trailable boats is you have so many options. There are lots of fresh water marinas. Your boat would be awesome for a summer around the Erie canal and the finger lakes for a summer, spend a fall week in the Hudson doing NYC. Then trailer back south for the winter.
      I just started your series. I look forward to seeing where you plan to cruise.

    There 'IS' one future problem and that is Local Government (councils). I started looking into HB living 20yrs ago I had the deal almost clinched and the council stepped in and closed down Shoalhaven R. to HBs. Up here on Nambucca R. They did the same and that fell through. The councils through the 'Greens' intend to take over control of basically all waterway activities within 10yr. Look what they are doing now at Eildon Vic- Gradually moving them off the water. If we dont bring back in Common Law 1901 you will be moving in less than 10yr 😢

    I've tried to watch 3 of your videos so far, yet to actually see the boat.

      I show it in this cost video.. haha and my very first video is the tour. Also, I have a recent one where I took it out. Almost every video is filmed on the boat.

    My boat is 45 feet. How much and where is your location if I doc it at your location.

    • @houseboatgirl4764
      @houseboatgirl4764  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yours would be around $530 in my location. Since your boat is way bigger than mine it will be more expensive anywhere you go. I don’t say my location for privacy reasons but my advice is to look in smaller places rather than big cities to dock!

    Cost really isn't that bad. Most apartments, at least where I live, cost about 1000 dollars a month and then you have utilities on top of that.

    Informative video :) thank you. 270 just to park your boat at a dock seems almost like extortion though :/ is this the norm? That's like 2 months of eating good food lol

      FreakMeat74 thanks for your feedback! Yes it’s the norm, and actually relatively cheap! I’m bigger cities they usually cost even more per foot!

      @@houseboatgirl4764 Thank you for reply! How viable could boondocking alongside a river be, are the rivers heavily enforced? Marina fees would be the biggest obstacle for me and many others I would think, seems crazy to have to park the boat like it's an RV :(

      Everywhere is different. I know here on the inter coastal waterway if you anchor you have to move your vessel every 48 hours or can be fined. I’d look into your local laws. Although, you won’t have fresh water hookup or electricity then, which I see is an essential part of living. Living off the grid would be fun for a few weeks at a time I think, but I know a man who lived like that on his sailboat for 9 years!
